  1. By New York I mean NYC. It is solidly “all 3 are different” here.
  2. Jeopardy contestants use Who/What/Where/When for every answer. I’ve never noticed any of them pronouncing them Hw. None of the three today did. Neither does Ken.
  3. That Obama answer though… 😂 I laughed so hard at that!
  4. It sounds like you have one of the accents with the Mary/merry/marry vowel merger so you use the same vowel for all. I am from New York where they all have three distinct vowels that would never be said the same. It also sounds like you have an accent where you say “hw” for “wh-“ words, like Stewie Griffin in Family Guy.
  5. Of course. What do you mean “now”? They’ve always been homophones because they are said the same. 🤨 I chuckled when Ken commented on Melissa not wagering enough on that final DD. So dumb!! She had a runaway game in the bag but couldn’t do simple math.
  6. Ha wow. I thought I had no idea for FJ but said “For some reason I am thinking Wyoming so I’ll go with that.” About fell off my chair when it was right! I guess that fact did manage to burrow into depths of my brain somewhere.
  7. Production making fake idols that are indistinguishable from the real ones just adds an element of meanness to the game that I don't think I like. There needs to be some element of doubt about it in the player's mind. Why would a player ever even think that a production-created idol is not a real one?
  8. I can’t believe they both missed FJ! I thought it was so easy! I had it before Ken even read the full clue. A famous 1980s adventure set in the 1930s? Raiders of the Lost Ark. I also totally thought it was K! I’ve definitely seen huge banners with K written on them hanging from the bleachers during games. The clue referenced something about 3 which made sense for strikes. It’s really nothing like a western or James Bond movie though. I hate westerns and have only seen 2 or 3 of the Craig Bond films but the Indiana Jones movies are awesome!
  9. I thought since Ron spoke with an accent (and was played by an Icelandic actor) there was going to be a big reveal that the silver writing corresponded to the Icelandic language (which has 32 characters) but nothing was ever mentioned about his accent and the letters don’t mean anything? Lame.
  10. Why do people in this thread keep saying that Carolyn has the idols mixed up, as if that was something said in the show? It’s not!! Each team has a different combination of idol/fakes. At no point during the episode did the editors give any kind of notice that the idols were mixed up. No sound cue, no CU to the instructions, no flashback to her reading them, nothing. This is something that has been completely invented in this thread.
  11. Carolyn is really growing on me, and I really did not expect that after Episode 1! Helen made no impression on me so eh, another forgettable early boot.
  12. No. It was an orange medallion. I just reached the scene.
  13. I honestly didn’t even know she had a last name! I’ve only ever heard her referred to as simply “Malala.” Like Cher. I felt bad for Stephanie flubbing both Greta Thunberg and Katherine Johnson. I knew who they were going for in FJ but couldn’t get the name. “The doctor with Booth after Lincoln’s assassination!” is all I came up with.
  14. Exactly. Even if the jury were to believe that he would be justified in shooting Carlo, he ended up killing a completely different person. They aren’t going to find him innocent so taking the deal for 10 years will be way better than what he’ll get. What was the point of Gina bringing the expensive liquor to the club opening? I was expecting that to actually lead to something happening…
  15. The problem with trying to make the cheating alcoholic storyline from TBBT match up to this show is that there, Sheldon’s father was just a name from the distant past with no actual relevance to the show. You can make him seem as bad as you want because it didn’t matter. But here he’s an actual main character that we are supposed to like. Didn’t George and Brenda kiss? The story has been dragging on for so long that I don’t remember but I thought that happened.
  16. No you are wrong here. Every drawing is dependent on the ones that came before, you can never pick the same straw or rock twice. That does not mean that the last person to choose has a 1:1 or 0:1 chance at winning. You have to add in the probability that the previous picks did not pull it. The math evens out that each pull has the exact same odds of 1/6. Unless the first pick is revealed and then the next player picks. Then their odds would change. Google this and read any mathematical answer. The odds do not change. https://parade.com/415809/marilynvossavant/the-chances-of-drawing-the-short-straw/ https://math.stackexchange.com/questions/1475654/in-a-game-of-drawing-straws-why-are-all-turns-equally-good https://www.reddit.com/r/askscience/comments/3ogz3m/if_you_are_drawing_straws_as_a_group_of_6_when_is/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
  17. No. He’s just woozy. He stumbles into his house after dumping both bodies into the hole and then realizes that his parole officer is outside his front door and his ankle monitor is missing. Charlie, Jimmy’s body and Chloe’s bones were then found inside the tree hole because she held onto the ankle monitor when she cut his leg and the police tracked it there.
  18. No she didn’t. The odds were exactly the same. If 6 people draw straws the odds do not change between the first person and last person picking. They all have a 1 in 6 chance.
  19. I’ve never heard of The Things They Carried. Never would have come up with that. Lucas looks so much like Rider Strong from “Boy Meets World.”
  20. He hit his head. Very hard. They get back to camp and later that same night he starts stumbling around with a headache. They were absolutely right to pull him. You don’t fuck around with head injuries. He clearly wanted to still be there.
  21. I was confused by the nephew plot. So he raped and murdered his own aunt? Was he supposed to have some criminal past because that’s a hell of first crime to commit.
  22. It was an homage to Phil Tippett. I think the Orpheus head may have been a sculpture of his face? He even created all the maquettes shown in the episode and filmed the stop motion scenes. I loved everything about this episode! This was my favorite so far. Someone was asking about how Laura knew Arthur removed the incriminating piece of film, there was a close-up of the film when Laura removed it from the fire showing that there was a new splice between the leader and the middle of the film scene. Arthur had removed the sequence of Laura turning off the light. (And for those wondering, safety film takes a while to actually burn, so that was totally accurate. I have film reels that have been in a fire and were only slightly damaged.)
  23. I’ve got no problem with the tournament itself. The contestants are in college now so the clues aren’t dumbed down like they do for the regular Teen Tournament. I don’t care who the contestants are as long as they have good clues. The only Jeopardy tournament I gave up watching was the Kid’s Tournament. I got no pleasure out of guessing an entire board of $200 level clues.
  24. Why wouldn’t it be? I thought that was so easy and was shocked they all missed it.
  25. I’m no fan of Mayim’s but there was nothing “belittling” about that! She was poking fun at herself, not the contestants.
