I appreciate that she actually had a plan when she moved; so many shows/books/movies would have her movie and get a job in a coffee shop or something, but in this...she's still a lawyer. Just with a slower pace. Makes perfect sense.

I agree. It was getting to me that Dean always "won," so I was happy that he was toned down and Stuart came out ahead in this episode. They need to be balanced.

I love Glenn. I doubt he'll survive much longer, but I enjoy him so much. Ruby's "My bake is so awful!" attitude has been grating, to the point where I don't really like her anymore; I have my fingers crossed that the comments this week will get her to stop and I can start liking her again. Kimberley is my favorite, and I hope she gets back to more solid footing soon.

They really need to stop acting like Jimmy is a bad person for not knowing Gerald super well after knowing him less than a month; it almost feels like he stepped into the father role too quickly and happily. I did like the pepper mill avoidance tactic, though. But yeah, the restaurant is way too separate from the Gerald storylines.

And Jon has taken a decent amount of heat for his softballing of politicians. Trevor has room to grow, but you can't compare him to a guy who was in the job for 16 years.

I thought we did see them talk a little before making out, but I could be wrong. And totally agree that my investment in that storyline was based totally on the Scottish doctor. No idea why the boys were falling all over Kitty.

I feel like the show hasn't highlighted the showmance in any way, so most people don't have an opinion on it.

It's not a reality show, but there's a great documentary about the 2003/2004 Broadway season that follows Wicked, Taboo, Avenue Q, and Caroline, or Change from preproduction through the Tonys. It's called ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway. It's been a while since I saw it, but I enjoyed it a lot.

There's the Broadway tap and there's rhythm tap, but I don't think even rhythm tap is a "Street" dance.

Yes! It kind of kills me that people who haven't read the books are left to debate whether Claire made a choice to stay. That's something that should be made 100% clear.

I'm a bit disappointed that the voiceover for the decision scene was recorded; in my brain, the next episode starts with Claire and Jamie riding to Lallybroch with a Claire voiceover that details more of her decision process.

I agree that it would've been more effective if we had time to see Phil and Carol accept each other more, go through some more stuff before introducing the Hot Girl. Because of COURSE she's hot. And probably comparatively normal. Carol was much less annoying this episode, and I'm also feeling bad for her in advance.

Yes, in the book, Anne is a confidante of the Queen. I remembered the name Rochefort from the book, too, so was just perusing the Wikipedia entry.

I really liked this episode. I like seeing more of Frank; Claire is legitimately torn between Frank and Jamie, and we're actually being shown why. The scene with the two of them at the stones just about killed me.

I was spanked myself as a child, but what happens to Claire isn't a mere swatting or spanking--he truly does beat her. A light spanking as you describe doesn't immobilize the spankee for days afterward. I'm not saying that I disagree with Jamie's actions, but this wasn't a few taps on the rump.

We know that despite her, um, physical happiness with Jamie, she continues to pine for Frank and the 20th century--the fleeing to the stones that leads to the controversial beating is after Claire and Jamie are married. I think it's a good mix right now of settling into 18th century life and thinking about what (and who) she's missing.

I also didn't enjoy the NY episode as much as the others. I didn't really enjoy the improv section at all. I loved George having to tell Poppy to turn around on the runway was fab, and the stuff with the social media guy was great. The barista was annoying--zero sense of humor.

I enjoyed it! Fun script; I love the rapport, and they managed to make the musketeers distinct and include a lot of action and plot for an hour and fifteen minutes. I'm also a fan of the 1993 movie, which got me into the book. It's interesting seeing where the series takes from the book and the many places it deviates. Of course, now I want to reread the book.

Their frequent mentions of Rick Moranis is hilariously random. Love it.

Thanks! In a preview clip, it looked like we get some clips of WWII, which we don't really see in the book. (...Which I am rereading. Of course.) It does also include Claire voiceovers, which makes sense.

I think I read that the goal was to do one book per season. I'm not sure how many episodes the season is (or how long the episodes are), but I have no idea how they're going to pull it off. She'll probably be through the stone in the first 15 minutes of the show.
