Caitlyn Jenner: Call Me Caitlyn
evilmindatwork replied to Lisin's topic in Keeping Up With The Kardashians
I kind of doubt that Burt was talking about Kylie. Mostly because I think few people would put a teen on blast over something like that. I think he was probably talking about either Kris or Kim. Both of whom have been supportive in the public eye but I doubt were as supportive over the last few years. I think Kylie was just defending a family member. Right, Kim has been openly nasty to Rob on the show-- snarking on his earning capacity, weight, etc. -
I've always liked Michael too because he seems to be the one voice of reason in that mad house. But, at this point, he seems to be an enabler.

Kind of over Jane and her self-righteousness. While I get that in this case she was in the right, the show needs to stop painting her as a Mary Sue. At this point, I get irritated whenever she has a conflict because I know the show will have her win/ depict her as morally in the correct lane. I so prefer Xo, Rogelio, Michael, basically any scene but Jane. Nothing against Gina Rodriguez, who I think does an excellent job with what she's given.

I am not sure that they're in love. But I understand why it's difficult to walk away, given the time they've spent together and the baggage they share. I am going through a similar thing and walking away from heavy history is really difficult. Ultimately the best thing either of them can probably do is leave, but I am empathetic to how overwhelming that must seem.

Guys, I really like Teddy as a dad and I don't want him to go anywhere! Also, this is totally going to blow up and Daphne is going to turn into a poor, tragic orphan in comparison to Rayna-Deacon-Maddie and their perfect nuclear family. Also, even though the US Attorney's Office is supposedly offering him a deal I totally don't trust Teddy to get his own lawyer and make sure that everything is in order. This is Teddy and the only thing he doesn't seem to screw up is parenting Daphne.

I just think they've been together since they were babies and they grew horizontally towards each other (not a pun) instead of vertically individually-- don't know if this makes sense on paper but it does in my head. I met my not yet ex- husband at 18 and we are now in the process splitting as I am turning 28. I held on so tight to him even when I felt like I deserved better than how he was treating me. He was really reluctant to break us up even though he was super restless in our marriage. I am in my second year at a highly ranked law school -- capable of earning my own money, worked at a great job before going back to school, and have a very supportive family-- but it is still heart-wrenching. We don't even have kids or assets together. I think it's because I met him at such a young age and met a lot of milestones with him that I otherwise would have met by myself. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for Catelynn, who I am sure knows that Tyler probably doesn't love her the way she deserves to be loved, because I am quite she feels like he's the only good thing she's ever had in her life. Tyler probably can't even imagine a life without her even if the life he has isn't completely what he wants. Their past, giving up Carly for adoption, and the new baby is probably going to hold them together until one has a real mid-life crisis. I have so much sympathy for them (Cate more than Tyler) but obviously I am projecting. I just think it's so hard to leave someone that you grew up with because in many cases you don't feel like a whole person on your own.

Not to get all off topic but I just did not UNDERSTAND that story line. Do they not house train their dogs? How is that even a problem with an adult dog, living since puppy-hood, with a wealthy family with the resources to hire a trainer?

I don't understand why people think they can't get pregnant because of PCOS. People with pcos get pregnant all the time. The only issue is that ovulation doesn't happen on a predictable schedule so it's a little bit more unpredictable than it normally would be. I have it and while I don't have any children yet, no doctor has ever said that it would be very "hard" for me to have kids or that I would never have them. Maci is full of shit with her pcos story.

I've felt for a I've felt for a long time that while I like Jane, she Alba are the characters I like least on the show. I feel like they're both righteous and judgmental and admire Xo for putting up with their self-righteousness for all these years. Xiomara is a stronger and better woman than I am.

S03.E17: This Just Ain't A Good Day For Leavin'
evilmindatwork replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Nashville [V]
Why does this show hate Daphne? Not only do all her needs come second to her bratty older sister but it looks like she's going to lose her father to either death or lock-up. -
S03.E14: Someone Pick Up My Pieces

Rayna isn't trained to be an executive though. She's an entertainer. She's a fish out of water in the executive world, and learning how to run a label. Running a label is what Jeff DOES. He should know how to do it and how to get along with his employees. He has a narrower latitude for messing up. -

The thing about Jeff is that he's TERRIBLE at his job. As the head of a major label, it was his job to get along with his major artists and he couldn't even do that. It makes sense for him to have friction with someone like Rayna (maybe not in her element at that point in time) or even a lesser known artist such as Scarlett or Will (maybe conflict as to how they were managed), but he sure as hell should have bent over backwards to suck up to Juliette, who was at her peak and touring sold out venues. Jeff just sucks. There's no way if Rayna values competence she would give him a position at her label. Luke may have been cold but he made the right business decision. He just can't get along with people and that is an issue in a business where there are so many human decisions. -

No, no, no! I can't bear the loss of either Bucky or Glen! Jeff, however, can be the victim. -

UGH. Why are they doing this to Teddy? He's not the most dynamic guy in the universe but this plot isn't even interesting. Eric Close deserves better. -
I think it's not so much that Edith was ignorant of contraception as much as she didn't have time to prepare. Wasn't it an unplanned encounter?

S03.E13: I'm Lost Between Right Or Wrong
evilmindatwork replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Nashville [V]
Do you all think it's a slight on Teddy that Maddy wants Deacon and Rayna to be together but not Teddy and Rayna? -

I think so too. I think it's pretty unrealistic that Teddy would betray his daughter to save his own skin when throughout the run of the show he's been all about his kids. Even at his worst moments, he's been a pretty good father. I wonder if they're going to separate Teddy from Maddy further. As far as I can tell, Maddy seems to elevate Deacon over Teddy at this point. Maybe she no longer really thinks of Teddy as her dad and this is the end of Eric Close's run on the show. -
Tbh, while I loved the S1 IchAbbie relationship, the more recent iteration of IchAbbie professing witness love to one another has only made me wistful for S1 instead of feeling like the ship is righting itself.

Katrina Crane: She's a Good Witch!
evilmindatwork replied to mad_typist's topic in Sleepy Hollow [V]
Honestly though, unlike Katrina and Sleepy Hollow I think the viewers of Grimm were equally divided between those who enjoyed Juliette and those who just didn't (I think both camps had valid reasons for their like or dislike). I was one who liked Juliette from the beginning. Juliette always had redeeming characteristics such as loyalty, transparency, and independence but many viewers just didn't feel was well integrated into the Grimm universe. However, Juliette was written very consistently from the beginning so no one doubted where she stood within the scheme of the show-- she wasn't a shady character, just an unexciting one. Katrina, in comparison is just written so unclearly. She's been shady from the start but the writers kept urging us to support and stand by her. We were told to feel certain things for her but those urgings did not fit into the context of her character within the Sleepy Hollow universe. Not sure if I am being clear but I just think the problem with Katrina (besides Katia's acting) is that her actions happen in a vacuum because no one knows what her mission is or her stance on issues. -

I understand that, based on interviews and her IMDB profile, Katia Winter is an in demand actress. Wasn't she just in a movie with Christian Bale? Is it just because she's pretty? Because she's so stiff and one note in Sleepy Hollow. I am in no way a performer but I imagine if I was forced to perform on camera, I would make the choices she makes (this is not a good thing because I HATE being the center of attention). Is it just because she's so pretty? I still don't get it because there are many pretty women in Hollywood. Maybe she's better in her native Swedish... -
Gary: The original Belden Lineman
evilmindatwork replied to zenme's topic in Teen Mom: The Next Chapter
I agree that Amber is quite pretty minus accessories and personality. We have to agree to disagree on Gary :) -
They could have, you know, paid the actors for acting out real scenes instead of reciting exposition. Like give us a scene with Cora and Mrs. Drewe instead of having Cora say, "Mrs. Drewe said you were mean to her." Show us Robert talking to Edith about her grief instead of having Robert say, "I spoke to Edith and she's sad."
-
True. I guess I forgot about that context because the show is usually so frothy.

It seemed that Mabel knew what she was getting into and didn't mind. I don't really know why she wants him-- he dumped her for Mary, slept with Mary and basically did everything but show Mabel nudie pics of Mary to let her know that he and Mary slept together. Why she would think he's a good investment is beyond my understanding. She knows he has the attention span of a tom-cat and the man doesn't know how to keep a secret.

I don't check for licenses or permits but I have never been an early adopter. I usually wait for a place to take off before patronizing it. I also go by word of mouth etc. The exception would be if a friend or someone I know well is trying to start a business-- I wonder who called the board on her. I am certain it's someone she knows or maybe she did shoddy work and a customer complained.
