  1. Hello everyone. Worked from home today because of the snow, but will have to go out tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. I need an obesee to take my mind of off the morning commute.
  2. Oh my good Lord - Buddy is triggered by the campfire?? My sister called earlier so I missed a lot of the dialog, which I'm catching now. I'm just tired of all of these people. This is why I retreated to the convent that is academe.
  3. I could have written this same thing. As a new lawyer, I tried to help women but it often seemed that once you get some people out of trouble (and I was just doing civil work, not even trying to keep them out of jail), they keep having problems. You get to the point where you can't help some people. They don't do the little work, they avoid problems which only creates bigger problems, and they make bad decisions like buying a car when they need to get a handle on their rent. Very aggravating.
  4. That's no lie. All I could see was her big midsection.
  5. Wait - why is Todd dancing around while Twit is just moving her arms on the couch??? Maybe she can't handle a little practice and actually dancing at the same time? Hmm....not so fabulous, now huh?
  6. Yeah, Twit, you should have anticipated how bad Heather would feel, except since you only focus on yourself, it never even occurred to you. Twit doesn't disappoint in the distasteful human category.
  7. My son lives across the street from me. I buy paper products 6 months at a time and give him some. I don't think that's treating him like a kid. Treating him like a kid would be paying his mortgage. Giving him some toilet tissue is just being nice.
  8. 'Cause it was killing me, I had to look it up. The Cleveland Clinic says their gastric sleeve surgery takes 1-2 hours. 10 hours on the table, under anesthesia, is a LONG time. If you recall, one reason Dr Now does the sleeve is because the patient is on the table for less time because they can't deal with a long time on anesthesia.
  9. I looked into surgery and did everything up to the psych eval. The purpose is to make sure you don't have an eating disorder or some mental health issue that would stop you from following the post-surgery program. It's not there to find out why you hate your mother or anything deep. It has nothing to do w/the state of healthcare. If you need therapy because of some terrible childhood trauma, which many of these people have, the bariatric clinic is not where you should be. I think we see the 'therapy' where the obesee talks about their trauma because it makes for good TV and we can get an idea of what a therapist might say. There's no way any meaningful therapy is being done in one, one hour session.
  10. I'm just going to complain a little here. I'm watching Ashley D's show (home waiting for snowmageddon). As usual, she says no other doctor will help her. What does she, or any of these other obesees think he is going to do - give them the surgery when they walk in the door? I remember Janine's intro story where she finds out she's 400 lbs or so and says, "What do we do now?" What 'we'? This is on you, girlfriend. The show's been on for awhile, everybody has to lose weight - he may specialize in larger people, but he's not looking for a patient death - if you are 650-750 lbs, you are going to have to diet before the operation. Why do you have to go to Houston to do that? Find a bariatric specialist in your area, work on an eating program, a lot of hospitals have them, and drop 100 lbs before you get in that van to Houston. I think a lot of these people don't even want to try. Many say they've never dieted before. So you've gained weight continuously over the years and never once did you tell yourself you need to rethink your eating? I've seen tons (no pun intended) of people on reddit and YT who were 400 & 500 lbs and they work hard to lose the weight right where they are. You have to start and you have to put in the effort. I have to tell this to myself right now, so I'm not just being mean, I just don't understand how nothing ever worked before for these people, and suddenly Dr. Now gives them a 1200 calorie, low carb diet and they lose 30 lbs in a munt. It must be a miracle.
  11. Lord have mercy, do any of these obesees do anything without an entourage? It's one thing to have your parents there, but the grandma and aunts? My 600 lb life is full of entourages - and usually most of them (except for the mandatory skinny husband) could use the surgery as well, just like w/this family.
  12. My provider did something on its end that disrupted my internet for a week. I finished writing an article, cleaned my house, did laundry, and read a little. Very productive.
  13. 'Night y'all. I'm going down to make my lunch, then I'll check in on the Family by the Ton page.
  14. One of our missionaries finished his term and went back home to take up welding. He went to school for it , though. Also, I'm glad Robin & her spouse are happy, but darned if she doesn't have one of the most hangdog looks I've ever seen. Physically, I find nothing feminine or attractive about her, which can often be overcome by a warm smile and pleasant personality. Not here, tho.
  15. Lack of weight loss efforts aside, why is everyone dissing Robin because she says she's in pain? She has bone on bone pain in her knees. Without her shot, I know my mother is practically crippled by her similar pain. Robin's legs looked awful and eventually ended up to be a big problem. She's 600 + lbs. I'm not sure I see why folks think she can do anything else but complain/cry/not walk.
  16. A new guy in my church works at the local cheese factory (?). They make cheese curds by hand; he says it's very physical.
  17. I am FB friends with Paul Mason, formerly Britain's Fattest Man. He lives in the US now and in the 2-3 years we've been friends, he has been in an out of the hospital with cellulitis. It's too bad that some of these very large people don't realize that even after the surgery, they may have a lifetime of surgeries, hospital stays, poor health, etc. The surgery is almost minor compared to all of the other things someone who is 600 lbs or more has to go through to get anywhere near normal.
  18. You forgot the pigs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMYGbRO-jmE
  19. We are in Iowa, which isn't as flat as people think, but pretty flat with straight roads. My son and his ex drove to Branson, and when he returned, he said the winding roads were very stressful.
  20. Well, no excuses. She admitted she was the only thing holding her up.
  21. And the first pair of gasoline-soaked drawers of the evening goes to .....
  22. We moved to Iowa from Seattle. Aliya jr has the nerve to complain about the traffic here. Smooth sailing, except right on campus and on game day. Shoot, I missed the weights.
  23. Whoa - is she breathing like that because of the heat? Her weight? The walk from the car? Gosh.
