Covered by house dresses so we don't get the gowns dirty.

My sister started watching that. I can't even call when the show is on.
-
I just remember seeing the grandparents. Not to say there's no mom in the picture, only that I remember the grands. We'll see what happens. Perhaps it's an extreme example, but all Steven wants to do is have his child grow up with him in America. There are people who put their babies in microwaves, sexually abuse them, or starve them to death. I'm gonna wait before I start comparing Steven to Pol Pot.
-
But isn't he just 40?? There are plenty of women in their 30's & 40's who would like to be married. I was gonna say that Eric could have many more chances at love, indeed, there are men in his age (cough cough) who have true love every weekend. Leida may be Eric's last chance because Eric is Eric, poor, several kids, and underemployed. Call him "Dr. Eric" or "Eric with 2 McDonald's franchises" and he'd be beating them off with a stick.

So the sister thinks Asuelo "did it" to tie her down. Newsflash - Kalani has an infant. She is tied down for the next 18 years.

Yeah, Steven is all kinds of wrong, but I am still going to cut him a little slack because there are NO ADULTS around these two. They need guidance and they don't have it. They are both led by their emotions (for different reasons at the moment) and they have no extended family with whom to talk things over. As I've said, there's no one to smack Steven upside the head and tell him what happens when a woman has a baby, etc. Once they get back to the US, if he doesn't listen to his grand parents and if he doesn't do right by Olga, yes, we can call him names, but for now, I'm going to hold back. People have started off married life with less.

Or Mother Seattle.

Oh you crazy kids. You're gonna make me cry. Steven, you're doing the right thing leaving the baby with her, even tho you should have told her you didn't get the visa earlier. It's gonna be hard slogging, you two, but I'm still gonna keep you in my thoughts.
-
We can't, but as people here have told me, the Kalani clan don't see themselves as active Mormons anymore.
-
And you can buy the crust and just put on your own topping. Why did Coltee think this sounded 'delicious'? Sounds like pizza.
-
Poor girl. I'm sure the new mom hormones are just all over the place. Not only is Steven not treating her well, but she can't even think clearly about what is going on. Is it true that she can't even contact the US embassy to at least get a status on what Steven has done re the visas?

Kalani & Asuelu: Cheeto Dust and Slut People
aliya replied to Drogo's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
Whoa - I didn't even pick up on this. And she's doing it on TV? (clutching pearls) I'm a bit sheltered because the people I know are observant and church going, probably because we live in a smaller town, non-LDS area like Utah or Idaho, so we hang together. I suppose that where there are generations of LDS and, humans being what they are, some have gone their own way over the years and yet still call themselves Mormon. Maybe like secular Jews who still identify with Jewish culture. If I behaved like that, I would stop calling myself Mormon, but I wasn't raised LDS, so maybe it's not as ingrained. -
Apparently I've missed all kinds of stuff. Jon paid for Fernanda's education? In what?
-
She loves Asuelo???? I don't believe it. How is it possible, the way she speaks to him?
-
OK, immigration law wasn't my thing - why can't Olga & Steve get married in Russia and they all come back together? Aren't the foreigners coming over here and getting married? Aren't they being allowed to stay after marriage or do they have to go back to their country and come back in after some kind of final approval?
-
I got married the day I turned 23. My husband was 28. Not only older, but a combat veteran and all guy (coming from a family of girls, that was a unique perspective). I left the 'boys' back in college. I don't see what these females see in these boys - especially boys who are too young to get decent jobs or don't come with any VA benefits or anything. eta - watching Olga nurse the baby. So sweet. I remember when Aliya jr was a toddler and learned about breast feeding. His eyes got big and he asked, "Is it chocolate milk?" Love ya, my little garbanzo bean.

"My life is going to be tied down forever." Run, Ashley. The dude isn't ready to be married. He should be saying, "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."

I'm gonna say something from my experience practicing law and trying to help women with problems that ranged from getting the heat turned back on to paying rent. The more I tried to help (at my own expense or being paid some semi-volunteer rate), the more problems they developed. Eventually I realized that people with problems often make them for themselves. I thought that everyone was like me, but they aren't. People not only make numerous bad choices, but some folks seem to enjoy living in the drama. In the end, to paraphrase 'Scrooged,' you gotta scrape 'em off. Things happen. People need help sometimes, but sometimes they are their own worst enemies. It can take awhile to figure that out when you are young and idealistic. So, stop crying Kalani. You made the choice, you live with it. You don't even like this guy and yet here you are again with another baby of his. Way to go.

It's kinda like how the Brits say that a person "fell pregnant." Yup. Just walking around, tripped on the sidewalk and fell pregnant.
-
Good grief. You want to be sure not to get pregnant? You aren't married and you hate your other baby's daddy? DON'T HAVE SEX. Jeez. Stupid. Just stupid. And I'm going to say it - if she had followed the teachings she grew up with, she wouldn't be fooling around until she got married. Once is a mistake, twice is just being dumb. Of course, Asuelo (sp?) is just fine with it 'cause they can all live in the back yard and eat coconuts or something.
-
Jeez, I wondered where everyone was; I was in the wrong thread. Just when I wanted to cut Steven some slack for not knowing stuff, he acts like an idiot. 'Don't have a visa, Olga? Too bad for you. I'll just take my American son with me and your mom can hang out here and wait for her visa.' Both of them need to be around some adults who can impart some wisdom and do some head slapping. What - what's her face is pregnant???

I had to get a new air conditioner a couple of years ago just for this reason. My HVAC guy could only top up the coolant for so long w/o my needing a new system. The old one was from 1995, so I guess it was time, still, it's never what you want to hear. In the summer.

Small Talk: Only 2 Ounces Of Commenting Allowed
aliya replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My 600-lb Life
This is the only place I can think to put this - do people here watch Amberlynn on YT? I never heard of her before. OMGoodness. Who is the person she hangs with? Her child? Partner? I'm still dipping my toe in with her, but jeez Louise. I hope I don't end up watching her stuff all weekend. I think she got recommended to me because I've been watching some plus sized (being of that persuasion myself) clothing hauls (who knew plus size girls did that - and with some outrageous clothes, too!) and one of the women is extremely overweight. It pains me to hear her talk about "cute" clothes when nothing she puts on is cute because of her weight (must be hitting 450-500) and its distribution. Most people tried to be halfway civil and tell her she looked OK in something, while still suggesting that she needed to deal with her weight. It was kinda sad. She has a very up personality, but clingy knits are not your friend when you are that big. I guess this leads me into saying that I saw the previews for both My 600 lb Life and My Big Fat Fabulous Life. Get yer popcorn ready.
