I had to laugh. Hoarders is free on Prime now and I spent all day yesterday listening/watching while editing a journal article. You are not wrong, my friend. I do think that Colt takes a tone with Larissa that I find a bit stern considering they just met. Be nice, already.

I gotta stop typing and look at the show. : ) They were in Reading Terminal market? Eric didn't take her around the market and show her a bit of American food and hand crafts? I lived in Philly 10 yrs. Most tourists love Reading Terminal - and while a cheese steak is typical Philly food, there is some really good Italian food in the market, as well. Plus, they could have gotten some food for the road - I get the feeling Eric is gonna be a little cheap with food on the road. OMGoodness - did Colt and him mom just move in? Where's the art? Where is their personality and style? Jeez. No wonder Colt wasn't aware enough to bring some flowers or another token to the airport.

40 yrs old? No way. I find Leda (sp?) to be a bit of a bitch - "Why did you bring me here if you haven't been here?" 'Cause it's freaking Philadelphia, the birthplace of the nation, you dolt. Goodness, if you are in a new country and people are taking you around, you open your eyes and see what they are trying to show you, you don't ask why you are there. Too busy typing - what is the problem with Eric and the child support? Why is he supporting a child that isn't is? Even if there isn't child support in Indonesia, I wouldn't think Eric would need to pay support until they got married, and then it wouldn't be support, it's just supporting the family.

Jay's from Jamaica. He can easily go back and visit. It's not like he's from Mongolia or something. Jeez. And isn't the father a winner?

I thought beef Wellingtons were hard enough for these people. I don't eat lobster, but isn't most seafood kind of delicate? How the heck do you correctly cook lobster inside of pastry? I picture a lot of raw or very overcooked lobster.

Former TWOP member also. I was 'aliyameadow.' It was a very, very poor attempt at some kind of Lord of the Rings elven name. I'm ashamed. I shortened it to Aliya for this site. Aliya is just Aliya; a name that I've heard around. I also had a student with the name, but spelled differently.

It's killing me ... Do bison float? Can they swim?

Nope. That's what people with manners do. You bring flowers to your freakin' fiance or other people who have been away for a long time. Maybe, with airport security being what it is, you don't want to have a bunch of stuff with you, you have them in the car, or a nice surprise at home. You have food ready for someone coming from a long flight (I can understand if they don't want to stop at a restaurant right away). And, since you are in sweltering Las Vegas, maybe you bring a newbie a bottle of water for the drive home. It's called being civilized. Colt's mother should have taught him that.

"We are in a desert, you know."

I understand what you are saying, but as someone with 1 child and who lost her husband when that child was 14, I know how difficult it can be to see change coming. My son and I have worked at the same place, I moved to his uni for another degree when he went to school, and we currently live across the street from each other. I cook for him a few times a month and we enjoy each other's company. He lived with me until he got married. That said, he's lived his own life with traveling and girl friends. Just because he is more independent than Colt, doesn't mean I don't have moments of sadness. I like us as a couple (probably the wrong word, that's all I can come up with now) and can understand why Colt's mom would be unhappy thinking their relationship may change. Of course, it doesn't have to be mom or wife, with nothing in the middle, but mom may not realize that yet.

I lived in Oklahoma for a year in old WWII officer's housing that had been turned in to married student housing at OU. No A/C. In Oklahoma. Every time someone told me that it's a 'dry heat,' I wanted to shoot them through the head.

Wait - did Colt (?) just tell his fiance to roll down the window if she is hot? He lives in freakin' Las Vegas and he doesn't have A/C in his car? Turn around, sweetie and get on the next plane back to Brazil. This isn't going to be good for you...

I thought I was gonna wet my pants. So, I've missed her story - what is her background? Her English is good and she sounds like she has a mind.

Maybe it's like 'sauna.' Most people pronounce it 'saw-na,' but 1/2 of my late husband's people are Finns in the UP of Michigan, and Finns pronounce it 'sow-na.' They all have one.

I thought he said he was kicked out at 16. Still young to me. And yeah, 18/19 is an adult who probably needs to be on his own if he doesn't know how to act at home.

I'm Mormon. We have a lot of Mormons in the Pacific Islands and a lot of non-Islanders who go over there to do missions. When they leave/come back/are on their mission, they get into the island dances. Samoans and Tongans here in the US frequently break into dance at the airport when their missionary family member comes back home. I wasn't surprised by this guy's behavior at all. This is her culture, isn't it (I just started watching. I didn't realize it was on last week)? At least her father's, right? I'm a black woman in fly-over country and I know that Islanders dance for all kinds of reasons; she shouldn't have been surprised. Re the 20 yr old going to Russia - this is what happens when you kick out your child. My late husband's father kicked out another son in 8th grade. Yes, 8th grade. Nice guy, but in and out of jail for petty stuff because he didn't have an education or a trade. Alcohol abuse and just general low-level living (not low life) because that action by his father set the path for everything else. Now he's in his 60's living on minimal SS when he could have been so much more in his life.

The stuff you learn when you actually pay attention - that early scene where she eats the waffles, sausage & strawberries w/whipped cream? She's eating out of a pie plate! A honking big pie plate! On the other hand, maybe it wasn't a gluttony thing. By the looks of her apartment, maybe that was her only clean dish. And because it bears repeating - No, Janine. Your body didn't betray you. You betrayed it by eating enough for 3 people everyday.

So, years ago there was some flap about pre-made food delivered to some of Ramsay's restaurants. I believe his excuse was his people made the food in a central location and sent it out to the restaurants. I guess if you have a few places in one location, this might make sense. If it's made fresh everyday, I'm not sure I see the harm in it, but who knows? Anyway, I wonder if the pre-made fries are like that - his food, just made earlier or somewhere else? It's like the wellingtons - I think those come in pre-made. I haven't seen them being made, just being cut or cooked (and badly). I did a search: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2009/apr/18/gordon-ramsay-preprepared-meals-offsite-kitchen

I've never seen the show before or since, so I don't know if they only do one space (which was easy since this is a row house and it's pretty much a straight shot from the front door to the back) or what. Maybe Christina didn't want America seeing her bedroom. Still, it was nice of Ramsay to do it.

Mother of Mercy - I usually watch these shows w/my back to the TV, typing away on the forum. And even when I buy an episode, I usually play it while doing something else online and admit to missing a lot of the detail. Let me just say that James' legs are something else completely when they are 6" in front of you on the phone while you are eating lunch. Dang! Double dang! You would think the legs alone would be a reason to stick to the diet. And watching them cream up the legs... OMGoodness... ewwwww. I was looking for something mindless to watch during lunch. I think I made a mistake.

I was just thinking that I would like someone to make me Princess Toast. I guess I will have to make do with banana bread.

And he can still have girlfriends because his wife is in the US and what she doesn't know won't hurt her. Can somebody explain why Rachel had to marry him while she was visiting? Is there some UK thing they're trying to satisfy or make it easier for him to come to the States, since he would be married and not just a fiance?

Trash, Angela, just trash. Michael is better off in Nigeria with a decent human being.

Rachel, stop. Edith Piaf you ain't.

I so wanted to go there, but thought it would be too heavy for the board. I am 4 degrees from Hitler (yes, little black girl from DC is 4 degrees from Hitler) and watch WWII/Nazi documentaries all the time. Jesse would be just what Adolf was looking for.
