  1. Bye, guys. Are we sure this is the season finale? Charles is never gonna lose another ounce.
  2. A tarp kinda thing to cover the computer and monitor because ash gets everywhere and is bad for electronics and a mask, like we wore during covid. Before I left Washington, I went on a tour of Mt St Helens. It was fascinating to see life coming back to the mountain. I still have my little bottle of volcanic ash.
  3. I'm not sure if it is fried - though I guess 'chicken fried chicken' would be a hint, huh? There's certainly a batter? skin? on it, but it doesn't taste like fried chicken to me. It's a different texture. I'm not putting any of that white gravy on it, though. I'm not a barbarian.
  4. I had it once or twice decades ago in Oklahoma, where I assume they know how to do it well, but didn't like it. What I do like is chicken fried chicken. Omaha Steaks sell it, but I can also get it from the grocery store here in Iowa. I thought I wouldn't like it, but I do.
  5. Why go to the park? Can't you get a little hibachi for about $15? Maybe they can't have a grill on the balcony. We can't have them at our townhouses because of the trees. Some idiot would set the whole community on fire.
  6. I've been eating the mini Clio yogurt bars. 60 calories, so I don't feel like a pig if I have 2, but usually 1 will hit the spot.
  7. Dr Now ain't gonna be impressed by you coming to Houston, big boy. How many people have said, "I'll show him!" and wind up with a weight gain? He's seen it all.
  8. Can you imagine just showing up at your doctor's for a surprise visit or blood draw? Wow. Who does that?
  9. My son and I have had rabbits off and on for years. One lived to be 11. The ashes of the most recent on are still on his mantle. No way am I eating a rabbit.
  10. I lived in Seattle for 5 years. Absolutely loved it (this was before everything went to hell in a handbasket there). I loved seeing the mountains just riding the city bus or on campus. I loved the trees and the overcast sky. This guy has a wonderful environment all around him and he can't even take advantage of it. Drumheller Fountain on UWashington campus, with Mt Rainier in distance. I used to have dreams about the mountain becoming a volcano. Too many movies, I guess. And the fact that we were each supplied with a volcano safety kit at our desks in the doctoral office.
  11. None of these people have a car that works - or have the credit to rent a car. None apparently have the home training that would tell them to call Dr Now's office and say you can't make it. When they hide out like that, it's always because the foods they are eating are not on de diet. Jeez, dude. Just eat the diet. It has real food. You don't need protein shakes all the time.
  12. Hello, my people! My eating habit was kielbasa, onions, peppers, and some canned potatoes (eating thru some of my food storage before the move). I may have posted this meal before; it's become my go to right now. I added some Better than Bouillon with garlic. Yummy. And I made some chocolate cottage cheese 'ice cream' for later. Man, you would not believe how much stuff you throw away while packing for a move. Between the 'I don't need that anymore' and the 'jeez louise, just throw it all away' stuff, there's a lot. Some missionaries from church are coming tomorrow to haul the 1st ton of bags to the trash bin. Then we're going to stuff our faces at Applebees. There's nothing as satisfying as feeding a passel of teen-aged boys. Not a picky eater in the bunch. I got a house to rent in Wisconsin! My son did the walk-through and made videos. Just wanna say, that I love you, pumpkin, but scan the whole freakin' room, not just individual parts. Turn the camera right side up. And no, sweetie, I don't need to see the service sticker on the furnace.
  13. I feel sorry for her. She needs someone to help her manage her food, she's obviously eating more than what's on de diet. She strikes me differently than some who won't try, but maybe I'm being taken in by a sob story. Please don't just show up in Houston, sweetie. Not a good plan, given your track record. Bye, folks. On to the tumors.
  14. I have 'informed delivery' from the post office. I can check online to see if I have mail or a package. Don't even have to get dressed, much less talk to anyone. And if it's not worth it, I don't have to go get it - in 10 degree weather w/6" of snow, down a hill (truth).
  15. Let me know if you're interested in participating. $25 is $25. As I've gotten older, I haven't been afraid of allergies, but I often face new foods with, "I hope this doesn't make me sick." or "Which will kill me faster, this or bad mayonnaise?" I don't consider myself a fearful person and I like a variety of ethnic foods, but the thought goes through my mind, "What if?"
  16. What kind of care do they get in a hotel? Visiting nurses or is it just a place for the disabled to live and they handle their medical needs on their own?
  17. I was just in a research study for ARFID! They do a preliminary survey thing first, and if you're still a fit, they send you a vial for saliva. There might have been another survey, but I forget. I got a $25 amazon card. You don't have to be diagnosed to participate. I thought I might be a candidate because had gallbladder surgery last year, followed shortly by pancreatitis from Ozempic. While the pancreatitis was acute, and not the chronic kind often caused by lifestyle, the specter of going through that again has made me really concerned about food. I even bought a pancreatitis cook book, which isn't as restrictive as one might think. My doc says I'm fine, but I can tell I've gotten weird about my food. If you're interested in seeing if you qualify, I can send you the link to the preliminary survey & info page. The study is out of UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
  18. Didn't notice the big rear on her friend before - or wearing slippers (as cute as they were) to the doctor's office. People - just a little pride in appearance, please.
  19. I retired about 6 months before Covid. Working at a university, we had a good employee counseling service and I took advantage of visits to work out a plan of what I was going to do with myself and how to avoid trips to the fridge. When Covid came, I was already in 'just 'cause you're home, doesn't mean you're supposed to eat all day' mode and actually lost few pounds. I think being diabetic also helped because I knew mindless eating, especially of the carb variety, was just going to cause me trouble and probably greatly increase my insulin dosage, so I had a reason to continue to manage my food.
  20. I lol'd at the burp. I don't think that's happened before on the show. For someone else, I'd just call them uncouth, but girlfriend enjoyed her meal! Do it now, sweetie. You're eating chicken and broccoli from here on out.
  21. I've been thinking about that. I had it done many years ago and it was one of the best decisions of my life.
  22. Boy, her breathing and her leg! Normally I'm a little hardhearted about patients who've eaten themselves into these problems, but she's had a lot of real trauma - not 'mom loved him best' stuff. She needs a wheelchair or walker. Whew.
  23. Whoops, I was over on another day. These boards are getting hard to figure out. My eating habit was ramen (I only use 1/2 the noodles and make my own flavoring/broth), with chicken, broccoli, onions, peppers followed with a couple of Clio mini yogurt bar chasers. Whew - I thought she was making all that food for herself.
