The ruination of this country.

I'm mixed race with curly, Jewish type hair, not kinky black hair - think Weird Al, but better. : ) White stylists often don't know what to do and black ones want to over process it with chemicals. I just stopped going to the hairdresser for years. I would just cut my own hair - the curls hide a lot. : ) When I lived on the east coast, sometimes I could find a stylist from the Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico and was used to mixed clients, but ain't none of them in Iowa. Fortunately, I've found some well-trained white stylists out here who have been able to work with my hair type. The best thing I've done is let it be cut and styled, learn Curly Girl, and use product. It's all so much easier to deal with now. I actually look like a human and don't have to pull my hair into a bun on humid days. : )

Please tell me this person did not say she'd order food so her helpers could keep working, rather than letting them take a break and go get lunch? Terrible people.

No lie. I dyed my hair for years and finally worked through my fear of hair dressers to get it done professionally before I went on the academic job market. I've had it done professionally ever since. I think it makes a big difference.

All of these obesees say they hope Dr Now can help them. Nothing has worked before. blah blah How 'bout you stop eating so much? How 'bout you employ a little discipline, try changing what you eat, stop snacking, or just give up the pizza and soda? Something. But no. They go to Dr Now as if he has a magic wand. No one ever starts before they see him. Even assuming that they are so big that they will still need surgery, why do they never go to a local bariatric surgeon or dietitian, get on a diet and drop 100 lbs before going to Houston? Because they have no ability to delay gratification. None.

Did she say that? She's getting ready to get on a plane and she's worried about a burger?

So why couldn't Maja do this in the airport? Plan ahead, people. And news flash - they are staring because you have a camera crew with you. Trying to be compassionate here - can you imagine not being able to fit in the bathroom??? Why don't people stop eating before they get to this point? Who would want all this agita every time they leave the house?

You know, I didn't want to think bad thoughts...but... I was messing w/the thermostat - what was the deal with her father? Was he morbidly obese? What ruined their relationship?

It's -3. I'm cold, too and need to leave you pounders for a minute and go turn up the heat.

How y'all doing? My eating habit was a big salad and some Gardein fishless fish fillets in a sandwich like a McDonald's fish fillet. And a Cadbury's egg. No one is perfect.

I can't believe she told the volunteer that her 'spouse' left her and now she won't have children. Good grief. If anyone wants a fun group project, we made birthday party bags for parents in our local shelter. We bought favors, paper plates & cups, cake mix and frosting, etc. and put them in colorful bags. This way, when a child has a birthday, the parent doesn't have to feel bad that they don't have the funds to have even a little party. We knew this shelter had cooking facilities, so you might want to check before you buy a bunch of cake mix.

Man, I read through some of the posts and work and couldn't wait to get home. Not only does she not enjoy Alaska, but she is a slob and a vulgar person. No wonder she doesn't attract any men. Who the heck would want to date a woman who admits to peeing in the hot tub with other people there??? (Buddy?) She ran up the path, even though everyone told her to slow down - what is the purpose? Enjoy the walk. I saw Twit & Babs in the gondola, but was on the phone and had the sound down. I didn't know Babs had height issues. I understand. I took the gondola in Aspen and thought I was going to have a heart attack. When you get on in town, you only see a nice little hill - not the mountains beyond. It was not pleasant (tho I enjoyed the view once I was at the top and back on land. Coming down, I had to close my eyes most of the way. I was by myself, but if I'd been with someone and they told me what it was really like, I wouldn't have gone. How terrible for Babs' own daughter not to respect her mother's wishes and make her go on the ride. I'm sorry. I still can't get over peeing in the hot tub and and thinking it's no big deal.

Apparently you haven't watched all of the 'Hotel Impossible' episodes as I have. Don't be too sure. : )

OMGoodness. I am on the phone and just partially watching. I saw Heather's look and caught that something had happened but had no idea that's what she did. So gross.

I frequently regret that I didn't go to Alaska when I lived in Seattle and it would be less expensive to get there. I'm retiring this summer; so maybe then.

So I've watched this show a few times, did the chat, read the comments here and in reddit. Somebody help me understand what Christian's motivation was in suggesting her for the show? If he doesn't think she can do it, why nominate her? Why risk having to move somewhere as hot and humid as Houston (I'm with him there) to support her if she does lose the weight? It's obvious he was checked out of the relationship from the beginning. Did he think she would go to Houston and he would be free back in Portland? I noticed that when she complained about him not telling her he was going to leave, he said he did tell her. I bet he said a lot of things that Maja didn't want to hear, and that his leaving wasn't the shock she wanted us to believe. That said, why start this ball rolling at all?

Watching episode with couple going to a 'work camp' (still need to look that one up. Sounds like where the Joads hung out.). Why are they looking at tiny houses/5th wheelers when she wants to entertain and have more than 1 person stay over and needed space for books and crafting?? Wouldn't they be better off in a regular RV? Or a freakin' house?

Twit is no fitness icon for me, but I just thought of a way she could have framed these adventures that might have been slightly icon-ish. Many overweight people put their lives on hold. Either they are waiting until the weight magically comes off, or they are too embarrassed to be seen doing physical stuff out in public, or don't know how they would hold up even just walking around a museum, etc. Twit could just go places and have low energy/low impact adventures and activities. She could show that you can get out and enjoy the world and your life at any size (this is not HAES, at least not in my mind). She could even show what kind of accommodations she had to make for her weight - seat belt extenders; tables, not booths, in restaurants, etc. so that others could see how they could make these activities happen for themselves. But no. We have coke head Buddy, cryin' eyes Heather, and 4 people left in BGDC. It's worse than Ruby.

I've watched this show for the 2nd time now on YT. I wonder if she hasn't flown before and isn't aware of how big airports are? I know enough to ask for assistance when I need it because I know, without fail, my gate or connection will be on the friggin' other side of the airport, probably 20 miles away. I wouldn't have had to ask how far baggage was from the gate because I know it's always in the next county.

People - this sh$tshow is on YT (but in those stupid formats they use to avoid copyright issues). I'm listening at work. If you thought seeing it on TV was bad, just listening is even worse. Whew! What a terrible person. The screaming, the yelling at Christian & her mom, the crying... wow. I may have to pay for this one on amazon.

My thought exactly. She's mobile, fairly articulate, get a freakin' job. I think this is a different wig. Wasn't last week's wig shorter?

I have to laugh - Maja's world is turning upside down and then the scene changes with that upbeat bouncy music.

That was my thought, too. Good thing she didn't kill an innocent family driving and texting like that.

Wow. And now she calls mom, crying. Christian is sort of a jerk, but yeah, he probably needs to just leave and Maja needs to control her own life and not worry about whether Christian can help her. This guy is something else. "I'll answer questions another day."
