  1. Not 2021 Instagram, but 2012-2013. Her hair is dated. Sure there are still some women who are wedded to their Beachwaver or other curling wand, but they have been around forever and that curl pattern is tired.
  2. From what I have seen on Twitter by people willing to talk, brands pay influencers very little for sponsored posts. Brands also tend to give you free product vs. straight cash. Or provide "experiences" for influencers to snap photos and take videos. There is no way Jer and Jing are bringing in anything on the regular from their social media. Hell, even the people who pretend to "influence" fulltime have a parent or spouse bankrolling them off screen. There's only a handful of people who make bank from their social media and most of that comes from deals they make due to their Instagram and not from their Instagram.
  3. If the fabric has extra SPF added to it, I need to look at that company. I bought a rashguard this year in order to protect my skin at the beach and pool. I was tired of always getting a sunburn on the areas of my body where my sunscreen always rubbed off.
  4. I don't see how anyone's fifth child is a miracle especially when you admit to surgical intervention. That caption is a slap in the face to Erin's sister Michael and the thousands of other childless women who desperately want to have their own biological child. It isn't God blessing you, but your own arrogance and greed.
  5. Their pictures are sooo staged. Their motivations are also very apparent when they choose to use Instagram as their social media platform of choice and have largely ignored their Twitter account. They want the platform that values images over text (and that also conveniently allows them to delete comments they don't like).
  6. I chalk it up to the Medic Corps guys always willing to stop and play for the cameras. The professionals don't have the time nor the inclination for it. The networks will get the token spokesperson who is willing to be interviewed because that is their job. In my experience, the people you see on camera are the ones who are willing to do it and not always the best person to be speaking or pretending to work for the cameras.
  7. Yep. These fools keep on inserting themselves into the situation to get media attention. Their latest Instagram post has a clip from CBS news to go with them already being seen on camera for NBC news and a shout out from FOX news. They did the same thing in the Bahamas. Their ability to sniff out the cameras is uncanny and it makes me wonder how much actual work they are accomplishing.
  8. Her bit role in History of the World is one of my favorite parts. "Oh a bullshit artist," "did you bullshit last week? Did you try to bullshit last week?" Her tone just sold it. I also adore Madeline Kahn in that movie.
  9. I agree that there is a lot of unethical behavior in the non-profit world. And if Medic Corps handled all of their money in-house, it would happen there as well. Their whole mission has a lot of overhead built into it without adding salaries or other wasteful spending on themselves that also happens to be legal (though their SCUBA training is toeing that particular line). I get you about the cat rescue. I am open to allowing a cat adopt me, but I will not patronize my local cat rescue. It's run by the type of cat people who give other cat people a bad name. They always have a ton of cats up for adoption because no one is ever good enough. I just looked up their adoption form and they want 3 different phone numbers, the names and ages of all people living in the home, name of employer, home ownership status, etc. plus a vet recommendation. I actually surprised they did not ask what type of food I am planning on feeding the cat, or maybe that's part of their second round of screening.
  10. Last week someone over on Reddit went through the motions of donating to Medic Corps, and the result was interesting. Medic Corps uses a third party to collect donations called National Christian Charitable Foundation, Inc. I find this very interesting because Medic Corps is a component fund and the donation is "subject to NCF's sole discretion and control." There is no guarantee that the money donated actually goes to Medic Corps. The NCF can decide (after taking their cut, naturally) that the money is better off going into their larger slush fund. A fund that doles out money to other "Christian" organizations like the FRC. Granted these are like-minded groups, but as a donor I would be very upset to find out the money I gave to help people who are actively suffering was diverted to fund another project. I do understand why non-profits contract with third parties to help invest their donations, but this seems extremely sketchy.
  11. I am a bit curious as to how Jeremy will interpret James 2: 14-26. You know, the whole faith without works is dead.
  12. I really dont know why Sony did not have a plan in place once Alex went public with his diagnosis. It became a matter of when not if. I know Alex was a national treasure, but as the saying goes, the show must go on.
  13. I gave up on Sleepy Hollow when it became obvious one of the showrunners had a hard-on for the actress playing Katrina. Her wardrobe looked like it came straight out of his wet dreams with Katrina wearing a corset without a chemise (the chafing, oh the chafing), skinny jeans, and long flowing hair. Also, I signed up for a buddy cop time travel show with supernatural elements, not Crane family drama.
  14. What is with fundies and being skincare-adverse? I know I have years on both of them, but look younger.
  15. Jane Austen was writing and died before Queen Victoria was conceived. She is not a Victorian writer.
  16. That is a man who knows what foreplay is and that there are more positions than missionary.
  17. Jinger, we've seen you wear those shoes out of the house, and now you are wearing them while Evy Jo is playing on the floor. Between your siblings and Felicity, you should know by now that kids her age are apt to lick the floor and put any and everything into their mouths.
  18. I assume someone back in the USA is crafting those posts based on pictures sent from Haiti. It's a common practice done by charities like World Central Kitchen, but those organizations have more talented social media managers. Charities do this so donors can see how their money is spent and to solicit more donations. It sounds bad to us because the Medic Corps dudes just really suck at composing sentences. They sound patronizing no matter what information they are trying to get across. I keep on thinking about the language they used for their Philippines post and that colors how I read these.
  19. Yeah, the toxic people I have seen online coming out with outlandish theories and harassing others online have all been adults. It's not teenagers over on Crazy Days and Nights or Tumblr dissecting videos and comments to prove Meghan Markle was never pregnant with her children or that there is something fishy going on in Benedict Cumberbatch's marriage. It's adults with fulltime jobs, families and other adult responsibilities who do this. It's their hobby. The toxic Stucky shippers who drove Emily Van Campen off Twitter were adults. Same thing for the mob who drove Leslie Jones off of Twitter for awhile because she dared to star in a movie that ruined their childhood.
  20. I saw that. I cackled when Gabe Gutierrez either mentioned or interviewed other charities and volunteers. Lawson and the other Medic Corps were just grunts working in the background while the professionals were interviewed. Like it should be.
  21. Honesty, because Joy shouldn't have to. Joy should be able to post pictures of her kids without comments like that. Anyone commenting on Joy's posts about Josh is an asshole and should be blocked.
  22. Or if you have the time and are capable of doing heavy-lifting, you can join an already established legitimate aid group and work with them. Medic Corps is not doing anything special that no one else is doing. The only reason the Bateses and Duggars formed this charity is greed and pride.
  23. I see they are now blurring the faces of the people they are helping. I guess it's a step up from their Bahamas posts, but still terribly invasive. That poor woman's whole life has been blown up and she needs actual compassionate care, not some asshole wearing airpods with little to no training all while another asshole is taking pictures of her.
  24. I remember calling them out on Instagram when they posted the medical history of the people they were evacuating along with accompanying pictures. Their callous disregard for the people they claim they are helping was too much for me. I pray they learned their lesson and don't broadcast private information again. I was curious and looked at the old post that I commented on two years ago, and the post is still there along with the privacy violation but my comment is gone. I'm disappointed, but not surprised.
