  1. To me, the most intriguing part of the finale is the Gemma storyline. If "she" is still alive does that mean she doesn't have an outie? I assumed that after the car accident there was a body which Mark saw. Did Lumon resurrect her and make her just an innie?
  2. I do hope that Rebecca's end happens in the next episode and they use the finale to do a "Six Feet Under" closing.
  3. You are suggesting that people often make the right decisions about their lives? Plus, Ruth's advice to Wyatt was for him, even if she insinuated that she would be a part of it. Ruth wanted Wyatt to rid himself of Darlene.
  4. The fundamental issue with shows like "This Is Us" is that they spend 5 1/2 seasons trying to be deep and then close things down by swimming on the surface. In a 2-3 weeks they have broken up Kate and Toby, remarried Kate, and reunited Kevin and Sophie. There will be no exploration of the any of the relationships (yes, they did try to show how Katoby wasn't going to work but it felt forced), just a bunch of "this is how things end up." I just hope they give Rebecca her due since she is not on the best character on the show and the glue to the entire clan, but Mandy Moore has been nothing short of spectacular.
  5. Because Kevin's sister was getting married. Elijah was the "most distant" from the bride or groom. Makes sense to me. Plus, he already had to care for his child.
  6. It sounds like next week’s episode is going to be like “To Tell The Truth” with 3 contestants vying for Kevin’s heart. I hope they don’t make a mockery of the situation. If he ends up with Cassidy then they are throwing a lot of curve balls since that was not her bra on the chair.
  7. I thought the first 6-7 episodes were really good and then the pace of things changed quickly, as others have said. Maybe it was due to a lack of commitment for futures seasons but it felt like the show’s focus changed. I wish they had done more with Amy Landecker’s character.
  8. Did I miss these scenes since I don’t remember any of this on SDF.
  9. Kevin has no depth but they tried to give him some, literally, by using the deep end of the pool as a metaphor. It didn't work. I don't know why but I hope Kevin and Cassidy end up together. Maybe it is because I like Jennifer Morrison or maybe because I am a Deadhead and like the song Cassidy. Either way, I am rooting for it. Finally, it is a stretch that after decades of living alone and struggling with mental health issues Nicky seems completely "normal" and "over it." I don't think it is that easy.
  10. Having James start drinking again is an interesting direction for the show. I am sure there are a lot of recovering alcoholics who have to deal with seeing one of their own relapse. I am sure it is a challenging situation on many levels. I hope we see Sam continue her recovery as opposed to James drag her down with him.
  11. It is about the evolution of professional basketball as a money-making enterprise, not just the game itself. Buss and Stern turned basketball into a popular entertainment option to compete with football and baseball. That's what it is about. Having grown up during this era I am really enjoying this. It is quirky and a bit tongue-in-check but I know all the characters from way back when so this is a lot of fun to watch.
  12. What a great and touching ending to a great season. I really wish more shows were like this one, about normal people dealing with the challenges of everyday life. Sam’s friendship song to Joel was amazing. Can’t wait for season 2. Well deserved.
  13. While she didn't come out and say he was gay, she said enough to leave people with the impression that he was. Some of her lines from the Apollo show include: “He pretty much has a guy for everything else,” and she made a comment about Shy’s “Judy Garland shoes.” Sterling Brown's character even mentions that to her on the tarmac. Shy confessed to Midge that he was gay, without using that word, and I am sure he felt she went too far divulging information.
  14. I think the 30 minute format works well for this show. Every show has meaning. I wonder if that would get lost in 45 minutes to an hour.
  15. It is refreshing to watch a show about everyday people dealing with regular stuff. Of course, “regular” people have their own kind of destructive behavior but at least it is not about money and fame.
  16. I agree. That is definitely a father/daughter relationship from both sides. Marty is definitely not happy that Ruth is exposed to Darlene who could end her life at any time. When Wendy was talking to the new sheriff and implying Ruth is linked to Darlene, Marty was not only trying to protect his own interest but also trying to protect Ruth.
  17. The original triangle was Marty/Wendy vs. Omar vs. Helen. Now Helen was replaced with Javi who is way more dangerous than Helen ever was. At some point one of the 3 will perish and there will be 2 left (just my guess). Then we will see who outsmarts whom. Darlene is just a special kind of crazy.
  18. I don’t think they are making Sam seem selfish. Other than asking her parents to let her sleep on their couch, which is sad in itself, she isn’t asking others for anything. She is a lost soul. She was probably lost before her sister died but at least during the time she cared for her she had some purpose. Now she is back home and adrift. It must be sad to feel like an outsider in the town you grew up in. Hopefully she is starting to make connections.
  19. Who was the actor he took revenge on? When did we see it?
  20. I thought the episode was great, despite Jackie's death, up until Tai's wife finding the ritual table and Nat getting kidnapped. I really have no interest in the Lottie-led cult. The rest was entertaining and did provide some closure. I guess next season will show the continuing saga in the woods (I am ok with that) and the modern day fiasco (ugh).
  21. I liked the movie more for the prequel aspects than the current storyline wrap-up.
  22. I enjoy the episodes which do not focus on the triplets (and Jack), and instead dig deeper into one of the supporting characters. They have done a good job with the Nicky character, both as a late teen/solder, and the modern day version.
  23. Excellent point. However, these Nat and Tai have some much else going on in their lives they can’t think straight. I would think one of them would realize that at some point. I agree. I still get nervous when Apollo 13 re-enters the atmosphere and there is radio silence.
