  1. Is it possible that Dexter did not understand the effect his news would have on Emma? He seemed to deliver the news with some trepidation but I don't know if it was because of his concern for Emma or that he himself was ashamed that he was getting married because a baby was on the way. I think it was the latter. This is such an excellent show. I love the pace and how they are really trying to delve into the 2 main characters feelings about life and for each other. Unfortunately, it is taking Dexter so long to grow up.
  2. I saw an interview with Winslet about that singing scene. She was terrified to sing so she practiced endlessly. However, when it came time to shoot the scene she said the director told her to be bad, not polished (I am paraphrasing). So, she did the scene like any non-singer could do. I thought it played very well.
  3. Clearly the producers knew that they were only getting 2 seasons given the ending and how it brought the storyline to the present. It was a fun 2 seasons and brought back many memories from that era of the NBA.
  4. For sure. I have been following the NBA since the late 60s. While most of us weren't privy to what was going on behind the scenes, the players and personalities depicted in the show seem pretty true to form. I am even impressed with how the actor playing Bird shoots the ball. It looks exactly like Bird's motion.
  5. I am glad Joyce has been knocked down a notch. I think she was getting a bit to big in her own mind. After a little bit of a slow start I am enjoying this season as much, if not more, than last.
  6. I thought this was the best episode of season 7 so far. Chuck and Wendy are on parallel journeys to look inside themselves. I wonder if these journeys will intersect...
  7. What happened to the old district attorney of the southern district? In prior seasons they would make some attempt to make it seem as though things happened over a normal course of time. Now they aren't even bothering to do that. They got the doctor to admit wrongdoing in 24 hours and the POTUS to appoint and assign Chuck immediately. The show has some entertainment value but they are asking the viewers to believe anything.
  8. After a slow start I thought this season was very good. I like that Sam has had to deal with ups and downs while sober. It could have been so easy for the writers to have her drink again. I am glad they avoided that. Busy Phillips character is just too over the top. Some of the advice she gave Sam was good, but I would have preferred a more low key approach, like her first sponsor. Carol always grew this season. I don’t love the character but at least she gained some self-awareness.
  9. Very disappointed. Juliet was amazing as Della and Rhys was very good as Perry.
  10. I don't see it as Shiv chose Tom over Kendall. Shiv chose Matsson over Kendall and the Roys. While Tom is now CEO, he can easily be replaced since Matsson will effectively control the board. If Shiv had voted "nay", the Roys would not only have their CEO in place in Kendall, but also control the company. Shiv did exactly what Logan was doing with the original GoJo deal. He had decided that if he was not going to run the company anymore neither were any of the family, namely the kids. In the end, there was no "succession" and probably never was going to be.
  11. That they don’t have Roy DNA. One was adopted and the other was from Rava and the sperm donor.
  12. In the end Roman was the only one true to himself.
  13. That’s because this show isn’t really about the “who done it” part but about the relationships among all the players. I find that part much more interesting than the specifics about the attack. Each of the characters is navigating their way through personal and business relationships. I think the show is doing a great job with that.
  14. Agreed. Episode 3 was awful. Too many extended Rogen monologues about nothing and Byrne’s character doing stupid things that no normal person would do.
  15. The description says “former childhood friends reconnect as adults..”
  16. I enjoyed the first 2 episodes. Byrne and Roger have very good chemistry. They clearly enjoyed working together in the Neighbors movies. I am a little confused about Byrne’s accent on the show. She is definitely not hiding her Australian accent even though it is watered down. Given that their characters were friends from way back when, I don’t see when the character could have picked up an Australian accent. Just curious.
  17. While I agree that Sam may be her own worst enemy, hearing that her 2 sisters hid the truth from her was a big blow to her. Even if Tricia was correct in assessing Sam’s inability to deal with bad news, I get why Sam would be so upset (even if she was upset with herself). On top of that, she has to hear personal news from the Chef waiter regarding Joel’s new found love. It was a lot for her to process in a short time period. Hopefully with a little alone time she will be able to move forward and not cause more damage to her relationships.
  18. The funeral portion of the episode did a great job of showcasing all four kids' feelings and connection with Logan. Connor was fairly indifferent which was consistent with his lifelong detachment from his dad. Shiv was still looking for her dad's love of his only daughter and hoped it was there beneath his rough exterior. Roman finally fell apart realizing that daddy was gone and he was forever going to be on his own. His forever protector was no longer. Kendall's speech was supposed to be the counterpoint to his uncle's, but he couldn't help but emphasize some of the negative points. Yes, Logan built and empire was he was an awful human being and dad. Snook's and Culkin's performances were the highlight of the episode.
  19. I really like that this show is about more than just typical spy/espionage stuff. The personal relationships are getting a lot of screen time which adds to the quality. Kate's issue of living in her husband's shadow is very real and a struggle for her professionally and personally and she is honest about it. Everything in life is driven by people and their relationships. Too often these shows ignore that.
  20. Who says it is ok? Shows depict life and those things happen. It isn’t ok to shoot someone but they show that in half the shows now.
  21. Except, in the article the "I" was in italics which I took as the author of the article passing on some information.
  22. The Vulture article was more enjoyable to read than the show was to watch.
  23. I will be very happy if episode 10 jumps ahead to when the Roy kids are broke.
  24. That would mean that multiple states were called wrong since the Wisconsin situation could take weeks, if not more, to sort out and there are only 2 days left.
