  1. Just out of curiosity, is S.H.I.E.L.D. strictly a U.S. organization, or does it have an international component?
  2. As is the same for any show that I stick with for a long time, I am watching the character development and especially the relationships between all of them. Adding in a competent dimension to Erlich was a very positive moment for me, as was Richard's respect for him. On the other hand, Richard didn't really develop much at all in this episode. It would be nice to give me a reason to really like the main character.
  3. As long as it doesn't happen in episode 9, I think there's a chance they might survive a reunion. And let's be fair, there isn't really a lot of good news when it comes to the Starks in any situation although it does seem that when you add more than one of them to the situation, you find that 2+2>4. Heck, even reuniting two of the wolves ended up being terrible news. Since we seem to be heading for some reunions, I'll do some some speculating. I'm going to say that if Jon Snow finds Bran, even though he's bringing death right to him in the form of Locke, that the two of them come out of it alive. I'm not sure about the wolves, but I think those two live because it is pretty obvious that one or both of them should get surprised by known killer Locke. On the other hand, if we bring Sansa and Arya together, I would be watching the rest of the episodes through a gap in my fingers as I covered my eyes. That is being set up as a happy reunion, so naturally, one or both of them will probably die horribly. Stupid show.
  4. This is fun! I share two more of Danny, both for reasons that have nothing to do with him. First, notice that the glasses are held on to his head by a rainbow loom band that my daughter made specifically so that she could strap the glasses onto his giant head. The kid has a streak of creativity and dedication to goofing-off that I haven't seen since the planning sessions for my fraternity parties 20+ years ago. I am both very proud and terrified of her at the same time. Second, while he stares at me wondering when breakfast will be served, notice another one of my yet to be posted here pets in the background. In the cage (to the right of the pink pig-loo) is Oreo, 9 month old guinea pig. I would like to mention that the pig is a pretty cool pet. Way better than I thought it would be. Fortunately, we are currently terrier-free, so nobody in the house wants to kill it. ETA: I suppose you could also notice the "I am so smrt" pants I am wearing but feel free not to notice them.
  5. EW's episode recap had some fun with that scene. in particular, I'm going to have a hard time not using this term when thinking about her now: "Later, young King Tommen lays in his royal bed. He hears something. In strolls Lady Wet Dream of Highgarden"
  6. From the moment some eagle-eyed person here pointed out the jewel-snatch scene at the wedding, I've been analyzing everything necklace. (There have been quite a few scenes with necklaces involved.) I think that Littlefinger tossing the poison carrying necklace back into the boat with deadfool was a relevant scene. And then we get this week with more talk about that particular necklace, and in case we missed it, Lady O once again putting her hands on a necklace. I'd put a wager on the necklace somehow saving Tyrion by the time we wrap up the trial.
  7. Best line [said]: "Sansa is not a killer... At least not yet." Best line [unsaid]: as Tommen closes his eyes to go to sleep, "It's good to be the king!"
  8. And I think the penny served the dual plot purpose of 1) giving Skye the clue that something was up, and that it was Ward who did it and 2) That Skye had pulled herself together enough to put the penny back (and that Ward didn't suspect she was on to him by the end of the episode.)
  9. Best I can figure is that the show introduced the Oliver's Baby story in this episode because Moira still had contact. With her dead, that would mean that the contact (or possibly ongoing monetary support) goes away, thus giving a reason for mother and child to return. Or, as mentioned above, Slade already knows and the show needed to tell us about it before he heads off in the direction.
  10. I'm not 100% sure this is a career setback so much as a professional life lesson. It's up to him on how he handles it. Jake wants to be a captain. It is nice to see that drive and ambition in the young man. But I am not sure that he was really ready to make that move. I think he was technically capable, but I don't think he had developed the people skills that come with age and experience he really needs to lead. That trip into the world on his own taught him a bunch of stuff that I think, and hope, will make him a better captain when the day comes. So is he broken, or is he humbled? Sig and (I think) Edgar think it is humbled. And I got the impression that Sig thinks it was a good thing for Jake. I think Sig believes that Jake could be a captain some day, and I think that he would like to see it happen. So I'll be very interested in watching how Sig treats Jake this season. I'm assuming that he will still let Jake be involved in the paperwork and other captain stuff, and that he will still treat Jake as a person who could go on to greater things. I am also assuming that Jake will treat the opportunities Sig gives him with more gratitude and less "why won't you let me do more?!" this season. It should be one of THE most interesting stories this season if it goes the way I think it might.
  11. I liked the mention in the most recent episode about the bullmastiff puppies that in the not to distant future, the mom will have 500 pounds of puppies on her hands. That was one of those "Yikes" moments that snaps me out of the whole "Aww... we could take care of another puppy!" thing that this show does to me.
  12. I like and respect logical, hardworking, smart Keith. I am not a fan of emotional, stressed Keith. He genuinely cares about the guys, but man, when he gets stressed he can be a real jerk to the same guys. In this episode we got to see logical, hardworking Keith. So I liked watching him go about his business. I also liked to see him go down and show his support for the crew. But even when all that is happening, I am still aware of the other side of him where he will be a total ass to the same guys when his stress levels go up.
  13. A lot of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons don't do it for me. With Boomerang showing them, and my children rolling into the age group where they might want to check them out, I thought it would be fun to watch some stuff I watched when I was a kid. As it turns out, I would much rather watch some of the newer stuff on Disney and Nick than I would almost any old episode of any Hanna-Barbera cartoon. Having said that, Boomerang is also showing the old Warner Brothers cartoons, and they are just as awesome today as they were when I was a kid. Giant Acme steel ball to the head will always be funny.
  14. Heh. I didn't think about ANY of that. All I thought was that Agent May probably has a quite a bit of history with what is clearly an equally strong-willed Mama May. And the "That bad, eh?" line implied that over the years she has developed respect for her mom, but still would rather go to almost anybody else for support. And while Mom has come to accept that part of their relationship, she isn't above pointing it out.
  15. What is a season without greenhorns on the Wizard? Man, Junior made me uncomfortable just looking at him. How the heck is he going to get through the season like that?
  16. Mama May: "Why me?" Agent May: "I needed somebody I could trust." Mama May: "That bad, eh?" I think it was more "didn't have a choice".
  17. So I find myself asking, how much of Littlefinger's involvement in killing Joffrey is related to advancing his own wealth and power, and how much is just so he can get his hands on Sansa. Which by the way, setting things up to make it look like Tyrion was the killer, would certainly benefit somebody who was looking to get his hands on his wife. I wonder how long it will be before Tyrion figures it out. He's still thinking along the lines of who would want him dead and thinking about of all the Lanister and political things he's done. It make take him a while to get to the Sansa angle.
  18. Okay, I admit it. That was a fun episode. The new old guy on the Bounty Hunter was likeable, and that was a really interesting fight with a very big fish. Given how the Bounty Hunter tends to lose fish in pretty much every way imaginable, I'm still in a bit of shock that they actually landed that one. I pretty much watched the entire fight with the thought, "Okay. THIS is where they lose it." And then we have the very cranky tuna.com battling for 10 freaking hours. I think my favorite part of the whole thing was when Dave let Mailman throw the harpoon, and we got to see the interview about how happy he was he could get to throw the harpoon, and then HE missed. Heh. I was pulling for them at that point to just land that fish, because seriously, can you imagine losing it after fighting all day? But I laughed out loud at harpoon miss #5. Of course he missed. How could it have been anything but another miss. And the show did a very good job setting me up for that moment, first by starting the catch clock right off the bat, and then making a big deal of the harpoon miss #1 which happened when it was still dark out.
  19. Ah the necklace. Not an episode goes by without some talk about that necklace. I noticed that it got tossed into the boat with the dead fool. I wonder if it still has more story in it.

I was listening the radio this morning and heard the replays of the radio calls for the tying and winning goals for Colorado in last night's game. Heh. (If you can Google them, it would be worth it.) Of the many things that went through my head, the one that stuck was "Ah playoff hockey! So much fun." Of course, my team also won last night, so I was in a good mood.
  21. I think something happened with Simmons, but I am not sure they are going with HYDRA. She had more than one un-Simmons like reaction or statement in this episode. I wasn't sure if that was just her way of dealing with the world being turned upside down, or if there was something else going on. Whatever it is, I noticed a definite shift from innocence to confidence in her social interactions.
  22. I couldn't think of a better guy to give lanyard-issuing authority. Chet: Lady, I wanna get to the bottom of this. ASAFP. Lisa: Oh, so do I. Chet: But first I'd like to... butter your muffin. Lisa: Why do you have to be such a wanker? Chet: Because I get off on it!
  23. I know Danny. I can't believe you are standing on a snow covered porch on April 16th either.
  24. I kept seeing him deliver his EEEEVVIILLL! lines, and somewhere in the back of my head was his voice doing this same thing before. When it finally clicked, I can now not stop thinking about it. I realize that it is a 30 year old movie, but I would be super happy if the writers would just throw me one bone like the one I referenced above. If this show were Chuck, I already would have gotten it.
