It’s the middle finger for me - that stops being edgy after sixth grade if it ever counted at all. And COME ON, none of these ladies ever heard from a teacher or professor or a friend to clean up their social media before interviewing for a job? I know it should be common sense, but in case any of you lovelies reading this weren’t sure…google yourself before applying for ANYTHING. Go to your social media and scrub it, and even if you’re private, the world can be smaller than you think and a friend might be friends with a future employer or someone who knows that employer. If you’re showing off your dance moves and want to keep that up on socials, I get it, but use the censored version of the song. Tho honestly maybe just find one other than WAP 😂😂😂

All of this. I think relationships and break ups are just part of growing up. You learn a few things about yourself and what you need in a partner, and maybe you grow together and mostly at that age you don’t. And it’s totally fine! Marissa and Victoria both are young. So young. I can’t imagine VK left the squad to spend more time with her boyfriend - doesn’t fit the “unselfish, mature” decision. Tho I don’t know that anyone figured that part out. Maybe just an injury or time to work on herself personally. I think 18-21 are such hard years of figuring out life. Your brain hasn’t quite caught up yet and you’re trying to figure out careers, living on their own, etc. I totally had it together in high school and was a mess at that time 😂

I’ll be the first to say that I wasn’t sure about Marissa last year. Her tik toks with her boyfriend were immature and obnoxious, and I didn’t think she had the look. That said, she was 18-19, so immature isn’t unreasonable. And then her boyfriend got sick, they got engaged…she was in NYC and had to come back due to the pandemic, etc. That’s a lot for mature adults to handle, much less peeps as young as they are. Hopefully he’s recovered his health just fine and they’ve just grown apart/had different dreams. I know some marriages that start that early can make it last, but odds weren’t in their favor even before factoring in the huge life changes they’d been going through. I wish them well! Once I saw the show last year and not just still pics, she’s really a cutie and lights up when she dances. Super fun to watch.

I feel bad for her, and she’s obviously upset still. That said, they’re specifically told they need to be up on current events for their interviews, and media “training” is on their schedules. A quick way to do that is look at trending hashtags on your social media accounts or flip through the news sections on Facebook and Reddit…would have taken her ten minutes.

It’s Courtney, Truck Taylor and Megan for me of the campers…all more interesting with stronger abilities than Breelan, Morgan, Meredith, Loni, etc. Maybe if Taylor had tried out in a less competitive year, because worse kickers have def made the team before and after. Justice for Lacey, whose muscular arms are covered by a damn blouse just like a cankle is covered by the damn boot. I’m willing to bet Lauren with the insane abs was also putting on a majestic gun show, same as Stephanie, Lisa, etc. Like hey that’s some great, hard earned, strong bodies these women have busted their ass for and fueled up to get. I’m alright with Auto Amy and Vivian not making it either year tho.

I think they did accommodate her though...she clearly wasn't up to her usual standard in episode one. But she was on the road to recovery and targeted to be fine for the start of the season. Tearing the other one too? She wasn't going to be able to recover for any of the football season, I don't think. IIRC, Cassie was about where Daphne was episode one...mostly healed but still not 100%. Danielle was a quick recovery. Brooke I can't remember the backstory - was she out that whole year? I feel like they used to bend a little more in those early days. I would have liked to see Daphne transition into an All-Star role, though...she would have been great on appearances. I believe they have some where they don't necessarily perform.

It's easiest to make money when you already have money...and I suspect it might be easiest to marry money when you also already have money. Just running in the same social circles. And when you're an attractive person on top of all that, certainly makes either of those two things easier. Everyone has their issues and problems, but having money sure helps a lot! I have an acquaintance who is a influencer of sorts, and it's been interesting how many athletes slide into her DM's. Her uncle was a pro athlete, and she's gone to a few fundraisers, but 90% of her instagram is workout reels, so here we are. Plenty of DCC go that route as well, and honestly, Dallas is the "smallest" big city I've lived in terms of who knows who. You're legit 2 degrees of separation away from knowing someone, especially in that age group. You go out in the same places, attended a lot of the same colleges, etc.

Haha it's like Lacey vs. Kashara. Lacey is so technically gifted but Kashara has that extra pop and sparkle. Lacey for head of show group, Kash for the triangle.

I'm SO EXCITED about this. For those who aren't familiar, the Emerald Belles are the drill team for Southlake Caroll High School, which is in a very affluent DFW suburb. Lacey was an Emerald Belle off the top of my head, tho I can't recall any others. I'm sure quite a few have been a DCC. I've known a few Belles through the years (and have a good friend whose daughter is in their elementary school program) and they're seriously so amazing. Great call to have their coach help with kicks. Howie Mandell said on AGT that they didn't compare to the Rockettes, and their director was like well, sure. They're the Rockettes, and they're professional dancers. These are teenagers at a public high school. I laughed so hard at that...tho seriously, many of these high schoolers could try out for Rockettes once they're of age and kill it.

Sorry for the awkward quote, but wanted to respond to this outside of the episode thread since it fit better here. Been on this site since MBTV and apparently don't know how to move a quote correctly, sheesh. Anyhoot! 100% this...which brings it all back around to how being a dancer like this is pretty much a rich girl's game. Every once in a while you're going to get someone who breaks through without those advantages, but these days most come in with the look, years of dance experience, expensive costumes, etc. Seems like makeovers lately are just taking OUT extensions or tweaking hair color versus full on glow ups. I miss some of those. Being a DCC opens some doors for those who want parlay this into a media gig like Natalie did. She might have gotten there without it, sure, but it's not something that's hurting her resume and certainly can help with networking. Other DCC have been media driven as well, like Jordan Chanley, gymnast Kat, Gina, and others that are slipping my mind. They can't pay rent with the perks, but if they can live lean for a little bit either from part time jobs and/or your family (or credit cards for many I'm sure,) might be able to turn it into something bigger for yourself. And of course a lot of DCC marry upper middle class/wealthy peeps too.

Great find, thank you for posting. I remember a lot of talk about it happening, but don't recall this video. The 36 hour thing is BONKERS. I'm kind of surprised the boyfriend didn't follow up before then, but thankfully her boss did!

That I believe. Not uncommon for a rookie to get all yes votes. And for veterans to get one or two maybe votes, especially if they aren’t classical beautiful or flirt with weight warnings. Or still struggle wkth the dance. I think Christina got several maybe votes every year, and a no or two, yet she persisted. I think the leader board starts out based in fact and then TPTB make some switcheroos based on personal preferences and storyline.

In those two pics, it's tough to compare because of the lighting and filter changes, but she also looks thinner on the right? And that'll change some stuff on your face too. That said, I'll never cease to be amazed at how hard "preventatives" are being pushed at 20-somethings.

New discoveries about Natalie's personality aside, I don't mind that she's been sprinkled into some episodes over the years. She was a candidate I rooted for back in the early days, and I do like seeing updates. I do think it's weird that it's kind of the fourth wall being broken since she's a producer and ZERO other alumni were featured. Cassie didn't host anyone? Any of the Jordans? Nicole? Kashara? Shelly B? The other Shelly? Some other awesome local ladies from the 2000's? There are lots of recurring alumni that work with the organization who probably hosted, so why SO MUCH time with one person? And that reminds me of Kat trying to find a place for her and her cat at a nail salon in Frisco. They really should have been providing housing of some sort all along, though maybe they do have a block of apartments in a corporate housing type of situation available at a reduced rate for the duration of camp. I feel like it puts the TCC in a bad position if they don't feel comfortable in a stranger's house, aside from their feelings about guns in the home, masking, etc. They might just not want to stay with a stranger but feel like they can't say no.

She came across as nervous to me as well. I feel like some of these ladies are so, so sheltered in their bubble and then they get to Kelli and Judy and are like WHOA WHAT? They might have grown up in the same studio for years and grown used to a certain kind of critique and just aren't quite ready to pivot. Plus cameras in their face and producers behind the scenes asking them questions or possibly leading them in one direction or another. I really liked the snippets of her dancing we saw, but I wonder if she'll be one of those amazing dancers that earns a Barbie and just can't get this style fast enough. I'm surprised some of the lyrical and/or ballet focused candidates haven't taken more hip hop just for the fun of it. I'm all for serious music and graceful lines but FUN! Have some FUN! (You too, Madeline Malloy, bless your heart. I like you sis but why are you acting so surprised?)

Caila had posted about the wall on Twitter shortly before auditions, though, and I think that made her fair game for questioning. It's of course okay for her to have her own opinion, but she needs to be able to speak clearly and thoughtfully about it if she's going to put her stance in the public eye. Normally, I would say it's great to ask them about current events in a broader sense, without getting into their specific feelings about it. Are they intelligent, can they hold a conversation, can they nicely deflect when a conversation goes sideways. Mileage varies, and I have a lot of respect for those who can compartmentalize when their friends and family hold values that are so clearly different, aside from basic things like racism, sexism, etc. But personally, I don't feel the need to continue the relationship when our core values are so different, especially if so much of their identity is wrapped up in it. If we have different religions or different sports teams or a gin martini versus vodka, how we feel about hunting...those are things that we can differ on and still break bread together. And have a good robust discussion about it, and try to find some common ground and understanding.

Oh I 10000% agree. It’s so hypocritical. I know there was discussion about some of A-R’s very sexy dance costumes from her prior gigs, and I remember some super cheeky vacation beach pics from this year but can’t remember the candidate. I guess as long as they don’t tell Kelly they were meant to build their portfolio 😂 Poor Ika.

T for timeliness on this considering the conversation from episode one 😂 My guess is - is she an amazing dancer or one of Kelli’s favorites? Then it probably won’t matter. Curious what they’d consider inappropriate. Some of the rookies had some super sexy swimsuit pics, wonder if that would be an issue since it’s pre DCC.

IIRC, it’s alphabetical by vote. So A-R would have reviewed all “Yes” votes and listed alphabetically at the top for that group, followed by the next group that had 14 “Yes” and one “Maybe,” etc. That said, this is two years in a row when veterans who made show group as ROOKIES magically find themselves on the bottom of the veterans. Okay then. Normally when that happens there is a visual weight issue (like Veronica’s 4th year.) But no one is going to tell me that coming out of the dance heavy audition process, Hannah last year and Amanda this year magically forgot how to dance.

And then one might make the mistake of looking up Natalie’s social media because one is curious about where her life went and what one might do for a living to be in that house. Yikes. Wish I hadn’t. I guess keeping the focus on Natalie is more about “hey look how successful our alumni are in their gorgeous houses,” but while TPTB might also share said values, they know they’re controversial and wouldn’t want a current DCC using their platform in the same way. So it’s weird to me that she got so much focus instead of a quicker feature amongst others. Sooooooo why not feature other Dallas area alum too, spread the love around. The housing market has gone nuts for sure, but DFW is still the most reasonably priced of the major cities and a more modest house would have been okay on camera too. Sheesh.

I think quite a few alum HAVE been hosting all along, Natalie in particular since she has some involvement (had?) with the show if I’m remembering correctly. Was she who had hosted Yuko? IIRC some corporate housing was available in years past too. One good thing about last year was that they were able to stay in a hotel. I really would like to see this happen every year for those who don’t have permanent residency already…quite a few are already local or would stay in Dallas with or without the DCC. But those who come in for training camp, good to know they’d be taken care of in some way. No need for Karissa to be camped out in her car or Kat to be making contacts at nail salons and Alex Hermes spending $150 a night for a hotel room. Lol. Curious how labor law works with the dances they had to learn on their own before camp officially started as well. I would assume once they’re selected and the videos sent, they’re on the clock.
