I think it just opened in the last few weeks - I remember seeing Sydney prepping for the opening pretty close to her due date. Super fun that there was a good opportunity for a store front. Looks like a cute store.

The current tall DCC reminds me of poor TCC Lindsay, who stood out so much. Lots of shorties on the team that year. Tess had been the tallest for a while, and IIRC she’s 5’9”. I’m 6’0” so unreasonably pleased about the tall additions.

Haha - Keyra’s stories from the dance floor woke my dog. Looks like they had a great time. Keyra and Cersten both looked great too.

Is this the year they said they didn’t have many blondes? I like the poses and layout here, but not the placement. So much dark hair clumped into the middle that it’s harder for ladies to pop. IMO, anyway. Veronica, Nicole and Jacie are gorgeous and just blend in. Even tho this pic is awkward, Kat is still so freaking pretty. I can see Kat herself using it for memes. Most of the “bad” DCC pics are like the one of poor Megan C, accidental double chins and all derpy.

This account has a ton of footage in his stories - she looks absolutely gorgeous. Pretty ceremony too. Looks like both the LSU right song (?) and Thunderstruck were done. A-R was hedging her bets, I would guess. A better opportunity probably popped up. Might be a big no no to do that in the NYC dance community, but unless she wants to do pro cheer again, probably won’t make a difference in her career unless she gets a horrible edit. I assume they don’t sign the year long contracts until they officially make the squad, after camp? So maybe not the best thing for optics as far as DCC concerned, but best thing for her personally. She also might have thought the cameras and camp were better on the veteran side of things and found out not so much.

Good for her, honestly…she found a way to keep in dance shape and a paycheck in a horrible year for professional dancers and live entertainers. Tried it, took what she could from it, moved on. Not a darn thing wrong with that!

The show will start airing on CMT Friday, September 17th. Crazy slow turnaround IMO.

Marshall has his quirks but I refuse to believe his mobile device is on a high schooler's comic sans/Disney mash up font. I REFUSE. Seems like bad karma that would mess with his witch vibes. I know it's a weird thing (the font) to have get under my skin in all of this but I'm like for heaven's sake this entire thing is just juvenile. I like sparkle and pink more than the average toddler but that whole site has tattle tale, slam book, nice girl to your face but actually a locker room bully vibes. Bad fonts and smug posting while wearing a t-shirt that says "if you can't handle me at my worst, then you don't deserve my best." Hide/block/ignore the posters you don't like and move the heck on. It's very rare that quality content is also coming from someone who is ignorant, hostile and plain old mean anyway. I'm just annoyed with myself for even posting about it.

Since camp is over, do we need a current season thread? Maybe we can amend this one to include current DCC and social media? I can’t remember how we had it last year. Gave a quick scan and looks like this is still the best place. I don’t remember seeing it posted, but Dani got the Abbey Bear this week. I haven't heard that song in a while (Prince, Baby I'm a Star) so had to google it...1984. It was on the Purple Rain album. OMG I'm 1000 years old. None of the DCC were even born when it came out. Shoot, 99% of the NFL players weren't either. (Shout out to Tom Brady.) Such an amazing album, though, and I think I'll go watch his Super Bowl half-time again.

I thought that at first too, but the account follows a ton of DCC and staff. None follow back, but I’m not surprised it caught some attention when the cheerleaders saw who their new follower was. The account says they “support” all DCC and staff, but then put more negative content out there. I think a cheerleader is more likely to accidentally see something scrolling on Instagram vs. purposely coming here or Reddit. And at least on these two sources, it’s easy to ignore posters who are consistently mean spirited in a way that doesn’t meaningfully contribute to the conversation. There will always be haters and critics, but at least some have a sense of humor worth reading and carry on a conversation. For what it’s worth, I agree with the cheerleader that wrote to the account creator…and as a side note, WTF font are they using in their app for that screen shot? It’s like Disney had a baby with comic sans. I like this site for the insider information, added dance links, the audition sleuthing, etc. It’s a great group of contributors with some people who are low value. Hide, move on, and man I miss the MBTV rule of no boards on boards. (And also requiring you to have read at least a few pages back.)

I think she's someone's brand of sexy, though. She looks super young to me (Marissa too!) but there's probably some Gen Z out there whose minds are blown. Or however old she is. There have been some TCC out there where I totally DID NOT GET IT, but I don't mind Lea. So far, anyway!

I stopped wearing foundation years ago because I couldn't get it light enough. Rihanna's make up line actually has two shades lighter than me and I was like WHOA. MIND BLOWN. And I got a tiny hint of what it must be like to be a woman of color with so many shades and undertones and how hard it is to match anything. But yeah, if they're making her wear the lightest shade of Diva tights, they need to make sure she can get a spray tan to match. Personally I would much rather see the fair skin and finding dance tights the right color. Mocha isn't exactly covering a lot of shades either. Three shades to pick from! Sheesh!

Yes! I came to post this - she fills that sporty cute niche. I like a handful sprinkled in with the glamour girls, especially if they have strong dance and the extra sparkle in their style. It’s relatable and good for camps and appearances too IMO. She’s giving me Christine Baranski in her early 20’s playing a Disney princess vibes.

As much as I would like to see more awareness about being underweight as being overweight on the show, I don’t have faith in TPTB to handle it properly based on Kelsey’s first camp in season 6? 7? If anything, I hope they did an off camera uniform check and just told Gina that she was looking too slim on camera, and to get back to her audition weight. Aka bootie like a shelf and less sinewy.

I thought Hannah was awkward in every moment that year, including that intro - “highest of honors!” I would be proud too, but she just seemed off from the beginning, like she was hyper aware of everything she said. Kelli is bizarrely pissed every conversation with her, plus Hannah went for the sound bites of “doing it the right way” - so I think Kelli thought Hannah was trying to make her look bad on camera. Tho Kelli should have said it to her face - hey girl, you had all last season on weight warnings and repeated opportunities to work with our trainers and nutritionists and you’re pissing me off now. Hannah didn’t make the team the first year she tried out, then made show group rookie year…and in that same episode, they talk about how she was on weight warning all year (as a rookie.) So I think it was weight that kept her off that first year. Anyway, I wonder if Hannah got the “don’t come back unless you’re in better shape” talk at the end of her rookie year, came back anyway and then Kelli just kept her for storyline. Because if she liked her character, she would have shuffled her into the My Fit Foods paid promo like the other ladies. Or maybe she did, and the editing monkeys cut it out. OR, maybe My Fit Foods said they had to cap it at X girls, and they planned to include Hannah, but Kelli didn’t like her attitude, gave her the boot and they popped Schram into her place. Of all the weight “issues” that season, Veronica’s was the most visible physically, but she was a well respected leader and more importantly, had the Nike campaign. I think Paige was freshly divorced and maybe dating the Cowboys player by then too, curious what was going on behind the scenes. Paige’s figure didn’t show it quite as much either. Human bodies are so weird - the bigger builds hide it better, and Hannah was just so small framed every bit showed. She looks happy and healthy now, so juggling school and DCC was probably just too much pressure. Living off My Fit Foods (RIP) and Snap Kitchen is easy from a meal prep/time perspective, but hella expensive too.

It's a billionaire's game for sure! I'm acquainted loosely with some of the Hunt peeps...from Dallas, own the Kansas City Chiefs (my #1 team.) I have a soft spot for the Packers, though, just because they're they're publicly owned and have a wholly different structure than the rest of the NFL. Which is just kind of cool. I wasn't as impressed with her Linked In as I thought I would be. She has the "right" internships and experience, as would be expected for her degree, family history, etc. But it frankly looks unpolished to me. That said, full disclaimer...my career has been omnichannel buying offices for major retailers and I have extensive digital marketing in my background too. There’s a lot of work that can and should be done on the marketing side. Website development, better quality social media posts. Maybe there’s a better way to book appearances as well. I imagine the show takes a lot of Kelly’s bandwidth, so perhaps some of that heavy lifting could go to an assistant director or let Kelly filly focus on it while the assistant takes care of the rest. The show has been airing so long I imagine they have it pretty well set, but social media is vastly different now. Just speculating tho!

IIRC, there have been a few Haley dance class sightings posted here through the years. And she’s not a strong dancer but looked to be enjoying herself. Some of the best football coaches never played past high school, so perhaps this could be in that same vein. Haley is in her mid-20’s and does seem to have a good head on her shoulders. Curious how her training through the organization will evolve. She’s been focused on social media and the show the past couple of years, right? Assistant director with marketing under her areas of responsibilities would be a next step for sure. Jenn A possibly groomed to backfill Judy or Kitty? Kashara is currently event coordinator, that could also level up. DCC picks whatever the hell titles they want of course but I would see coordinator - manager - asst director - director.

I don’t think you have to be a dance expert to appreciate if someone is fun to watch, tho. Or if they’re personable and potentially good in appearances. It’s good to have some “everyday” people in the mix, and Kelli, Charlotte and Judy review each round to make sure no one was missed. IE, dance community recommendations and such. Now for assistant director? Doesn’t make as much sense, tho if paired with a strong technical director and choreographers, maybe not out of the question. They’d need several years before they could take over the Director role full time IMO. They have to dance but so much of the job is also appearances, training camps like JR DCC, and marketing vehicles like the calendar. If someone was really strong in other areas and had a great support staff, could work. In my line of work, you can head up a buying office in men’s apparel even if you aren’t a man, or bicycles if you aren’t a rider…you just have to bust your ass to learn the business and lean on the experts around you.

And that’s legit a way to answer a question with humor too… “Give us the chemical composition of an apple.” Crack up laughing and say “I was prepared for all the wrong things! Like my favorite cowboy hall of famer Emmitt Smith wears a size 12.5 shoe! And has three super bowl rings!”
