re I don't get it either. It's not like special units liberated camps. As troops moved westward they came across camps in liberated them. For example, Buchenwald was liberated by the 89th Infantry Division. Now the name Infantry should not fool anyone, that does not mean the only people there were infantry. They would have been support with them. Medics, Cooks, Artillary disposal. Admin, Motor T etc. I was in the Marines and was part of 1st Supply battalion but my MOS was not supply and that Supply battalion had lots of non-Supply Marines with them

My FIl was a cook who served in the Pacific theatre. He was born in 1910 making him 73 in 1983. He married a woman 5 years older than him.

And his brother Joseph who was killed in WW2 would have been 68 in 83..Add to that the fact that I thought Lois Smith was 10 years younger than she apparently is and I totally buy it

Your dad served in WW2 and was early 50's in 83? That would make him born in 1930 or so, which means he was 11 or so in 1941 when the USA entered the war and 15 or 16 when it ended. People served in WW2 that were 50 years old.. JFK was born in 1917. Had he lived he would have been 66 in 1983

I've been all over Western Europe. UK, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, France, Italy ,Germany, Austria, and I have always found lots of signs in English. I think part of that is because the German in France may not speak French, but he probably speaks English. The Italian in Denmark probably doesn't speak danish but he speaks English. etc. etc. A French person and a German person may not speak each others language but they both probably speak English. Most Western and Central Europeans now speak English as a second language to it is the back up universal European language.

I get your point, and I have talked about this in other threads. I have addicts in my family. I have dealt with professionals who help addicts. Much of what they say helps as an addict, seems to go against natural instinct. They were absolutely, and I mean ABOLUTELY, clear that the way to save my nieces life, was to back away, let go, stop enabling, stop helping, stop covering for her, stop every single thing that made it easier for her to be an addict. That even meant detaching. Her own mother was told that everything she was doing to "help" was wrong. The only thing that would save my niece was to leave her alone and let her screw up. Others in this group of 12 had families who would not let go. They felt like they could help. They could financially help, they could give their child a safe place to stay, they could give them unending support . They could "fix" them. They couldn't. One of them went against the professional's advice ,and brought their son home to "take care " of him. He died of a heroin overdose in his bedroom. His father found him. My niece, well, we detached. We did what the professionals said to do. We let her lose her car. We stopped all financial support. We dropped all contact with her ,as this was what was advised in her case. They helped her. She went to a halfway house. She now has 20 months sober and off drugs. She lives on her own. She works at the drug rehab that helped her. The professionals were right. Our instinct to help, to cover for her, to protect her, was wrong. It could have killed her, just liked I watch it kill 2 out of the 12 from her group. It's a tough road, but sometimes it is the only chance the addict has

Got to say, I a disagree with most of what you say when it comes to Kim, but you are spot on with this. Violence is never an OK option. It's not. I can't criticize kim and Brandy's bad behavior if I don't call Lisa on hers. I'd be a hypocrite then.

So many wrongs here. Kim was wrong wrong wrong, in just about every move. Lisa was totally wrong to go for the throat and break a glass. I'm sorry, but as much as I think Kim was wrong Lisa was way out of line Brandy ,She was reasonably OK until the end with her yelling in the streets The other 3 ladies were fine. I feel for Kyle

I have a theory about Kim. I say this as someone with close family members who are in recovery. A episode or two ago I heard kim say something along the lines of" I don't drink and I am not abusing prescription drugs". This is very specific language, " I am not abusing prescripton drugs". She didn't say, I am not using prescrittion drugs, Nor, I am not abusing prescription drugs. To me, this is her admitting to "taking" but not abusing prescription drugs. But she should not be taking any drugs. There are tons of drug abusers out there who think they are NOT abusers because they are using drugs prescribed to them. I think she is abusing pills for anxiety depression etc and she can justify this because her problem is alcohol. She may be sober. She may have been sober for 3 years. She may have just switched addictions to legitimately prescribed meds.

In real life , she was raped on a pool table. Little known fact. The woman in the case involved only survived her rape by a few years . She moved to Florida and died in a car accident there.

I was in the process of getting a security clearance in the Marines in 1988. I was asked a lot of questions about sexual activity, especially when it came to same sex issues. If person is high up in the DoD they would have had the same sort of questions. Yeah, it could turn out badly for you. It could give Philip ammo
