  1. As a jewish person, i would like to say that at least the god of the Tanakh did not condemn non believers or wrong believers to eternal torment. So I'm not really sure the NT god is much nicer. JFTR, I am an Athiest now
  2. Re the baptisms. Catholic/Anglican baby baptisms tend to be white. Adults being baptized into Protestant denominatons not so much. I've seen baptists dunk people in the ocean in Jeans and a t shirt
  3. I spent that episode waiting for the promised nudity. Mistake. Be careful what you wish for people
  4. Rumpy Pumpy just means sex, not specificaly anal sex, so says all of my British Friends.
  5. Katheryn of Aragon died, miserable and divorced Katheryn Howard was be headed. Katherine Parr outlived Henry. Married the man of her dreams, and then promptly died in childbirth The only wife of Henry who had a decent life was the "horse" Anne of Cleves
  6. If you want to read a good book about what life may have been like for Phillip as a child, I suggest Esther Hautzigs The Endless Steppe. It a true story about the author, a young Lithuanian Jewish girl whose entire family is shipped to Siberia at the begining of WW2. It's an amazing, well written book that I read again as an adult. ironically her family being shipped to Siberia saved her from the Holocausst. The ones that were not deported died.
  7. I hope we are not too OT. You can download your raw autosomal DNA from ancestry and put them through a (free) medical DNA website like Prometheas and upload it to GEDMATCH And get much better data...PM me if you need more info
  8. If Kim was really serious about her sobriety she would not be besties with Brandy. That is the bottom line. IN fact avoiding someone like Brandy would be very very important.
  9. I'm a Jennifer born in 1970. I remember Henry being an old persons name. I never knew a kid named Henry. I did know two Paiges in my school of 1500. I thought those were stuffed cabages too.
  10. Protect the addict, help the addict avoid uncomfortable situations, take care of the addict, get them away from a bad situation etc etc.. Those were all of the things we were told we ABSOLUTELY should not do in order to help the addict in our family. As I said before, what we were advised to do in regard to our addict niece, went almost directly against what our instincts told us to do for her.
  11. It doesn't matter if it's her first relapse or her tenth. If she has been off of drugs for any real amount of time then they days when she first starts using again are the times she is most likely to OD. I can't remember what I was told when I went to family week, but the average number of relapses was like 7 or 8... Of the 15 people that were involved in family day with my niece, 2 have died in the 2 1/2 years since. Both immediately after a relapse. One onthe the first time he used in about 3 months
  12. If she really had been clean and sober and really had JUST relapsed then this was a very dangerous time for her. When people first start to relapse is one of the most likely times for them to OD as they now no longer have the tolerance to drugs that they had before.
  13. I do think Brandy thought she was trying to help. Most people who enable think they are helping. They are wrong. Unfortunately the "right" things to do when it comes to helping a drug addict almost seem counterintuitive.
  14. From my experience with my addict niece, there is no way Kim would agree to kyle going home with her. That would probably have ruined her plans for more drugs. You pick a fight with the people who want to help you so that it becomes all their fault and you can continue with what you want to do. More drugs. I also noticed in Lisa's blog that she mentioned Kim using the bathroom in her house before they got in the limo. I think Kim did something there. Lisa said " I knew the night was going to be a wild one when I saw how Kim was behaving when she arrived at my house before heading to Malibu. She asked to use the bathroom and was acting as if she was high on something, which is why I asked her if she had been drinking or was on drugs when we got into the car." Then Lisa does call kim out and Kim realizes she is going to get busted by Kyle. What does she next? She attacks the person who is on to her(Kyle) to deflect the attention from herrself, And you attach herself to the enabler (Brandy) This stuff is textbook
  15. Is it possible that both Kyle and Brandy were trying ,in their own ways, to help KIm. First let me expain that my niece is a recoverin drug addict and my family has been dealing with this for years. We tried to help her get a fresh start by living with us here in Fl and she turned to heroin She was using in my House, round my kids. She also very likely took my husbands pain medication. Addicts will do what they have to do to get drugs. My niece has 17 months cleam right now, but I remember the absolutely sick feeling I had when we went to visit her a couple of years ago and she was clearly using again. It's a horrible feeling. Brandy was drunk herself and probably is not aware of how to deal with an addict, especially one currently on something. In her mind getting kim in a limo and sending her home and away from the cameras was the right thing to do. It probably wasn't . Send a drug addict back to a house full of drugs when they are very upset is a bad idea. What will the addict do? do? Take more drugs. Very possible Sending Kim home like that might just lead to more drugs and even to ODing, which I'm sure wasKyles concern. Now Kyle doesn't want her leaving with a very drunk Brandy, doesn't want her going home to get more drugs, so what can she do? Take Kim and leave. Nope kim was way to aggressive and certainly didn't want to be stuck with the person calling her out. I doubt she would have calmly left with Kyle. Or do you get Kim back into the house, get food in her and hope that the drugs wear off and she becomes more rational. You don't send a drug addict off the a place where she can get more drugs or alcohol, which is what Kyle assimed would happen with Brandy. I think they both wanted to help. Either Kim stays and goes nuts and the cops or an ambulance are called, or she goes home and OD's There was no good option last night. Just a bunch of bad ones and they both may have tried to help as best they new how. Kyle may also have thought she could talk Bravo out of showing the worst of it.
  16. My husband was on methadone for pain management for years until he got a Neurostimulator implant. He was never "High" If he had been than his dosage was wrong. The doctor called him dependent not addicted. He physically needed the meds or he would get sick but there was no mental addiction. It took a full year to wean him off of Methadone. Bill could be on pain maintenance and not be drowsy or high.. Your body adjusts after a while. If you had a root canal and got vicodin, you probably shouldn't drive. If you have been on pain meds for a while you are likely fine. People drive every day on opioid maintenence.
  17. While, i don't view them as being in as dire straights as you do, I do think family counseling could be good for them. This a a lot of pressure and a lot of dramatic change for all of them ,not to mention the fact that they all have so many physical and mental issues to deal with. I can see it being a good thing,
  18. I'm retired military and I use my maiden name on some things and my married name on others. I'm afraid the gov will screw something up if I change it with the military
  19. This is not quite the same but I had a friend whose little brother grew up in a home where the family spoke English and Portuguese. This little boy didn't speak for ages. He was 2, not words, then 3 ,no words. Then somewhere around 4 he started speaking both languages. Everyone was afraid he was never going to talk. Will spent 2+ years hearing Chinese and I believe some English. He also had a hearing problem. All of these things sound like a recipe for major speech delays. It is the normal progression of langage learning to first learn to understand ,and then to speak the language. I have studied 4 languages. Spanish in HS, French in college, and Italian and German on my own. First came the ability to read it(something not germaine this topic, due to Wills age), next came the ability to understand language, last came the ability to really speak the language. If I am in Germany I can usually understand what someone says but formulating a response comes very slowly and is certainly not made of complex sentences. I probably speak German and Italian a lot like Will speaks English now. As I have also studied some linguistics, that seems to be standard. After all as babies we listen listen, and listen some more, and then, somewhere in our second year, usually early, words start. Sentences really start coming somewhere in the 2 1/2 to 3 year range. So it is 2 1/2 years plus years of processing langauge before we are really ability to respond in sentences. Will issues, being in a bilingual environment ,and have a hearing issue that was corrected ,probably puts him right about where he should be for someone with someone with his obsticles. Yes, he is certainly behind the average child, but he not really behind for someone with his unique issues. ETA that I am only trying to speak of his language delays. not of any other issues
  20. I can think of many reason why they may not have trick or treated. Bill didn't feel well, His back was hurting. He didn't want to leave Jen as sick as she was. Also, and i say this as someone who lives with a compromised immune system, It is different to hand people outside, candy from your own house, than it is to knock on other peoples doors, possibly enter their foyer and to collect candy from numerous peoples germy hands and then bring it home to your wife who is on chemo. Maybe they thought that since Will was so little last year that he wouldn't remember it , or even realize it was going on anyway, whereas this year he was old enough to really enjoy, participate and remember it. There are just so many possible reasons why they didn't do it.
  21. My kids did pretty much every thing Will and Zoe do that everyone is upset over. My son sucked his thumb into his teens. The other was in diapers until almost 4. My developmentally normal daughter didn't say more than 10 words until she was well past 3.. This would cause some here to have a fit of apoplexy . My kids would prefer one parent for a year or two and then switch to the other parent for a while, depending on development stage. They are all full grown adults now. We are all close. The son with diaper issues is in the Army, no diapers allowed. The thumbsucker is a film student. Once my daughter did start talking she never stopped. And I mean never. I don't think I ever got down on the floor and played wth, my kids
  22. Is that the one with the 2 guys with no heads behind them in the Square?
  23. Question, I know Theresa got a 15 month sentence. Is she likely to serve that all or is she going to get out in say 8 months is she behaves?
