  1. But Dennis wasn't voted in by America. He was a judges pick. The top 6 were: Maddie, Cade, Caleb, Gabby, Michael, and Catie. I'm confused about the time zones and how that will play out too. I'm in EST so I naturally assumed it would air like it normally does with 8pm here and so forth with PST being the 5pm slot. But who knows how they're going to do it??
  2. I agree for the most part. I think America got it dead right but the judges slipped on a few. I thought Jonny's performance tonight was really good and would have switched him for Michelle. I think they mostly put Ada through because she's a novelty act that to the best of my knowledge America hasn't seen before. She would be great for Broadway but can't see her going far mainstream. Michelle was put through to appeal to the Hispanic voters. She reminds me a lot of Selena but she doesn't have a strong enough voice to make it IMO.
  3. I read somewhere that women compared to men tend to be the larger voting group on these singing competitions. I don't know who the target demographic is of the show but I recall also reading that for years on AI women from like 20's to 40's was their biggest voting block. And that's partly why for a long stretch they had only men winning and the producers were desperate for a woman to win again. I think Pryor would be very appealing to the 30 to 50ish range of women. And it seems like there's something about guys with guitars. We had David Cook, Lee Dewyze, Philip Phillips on AI and now Pryor, Britton who made it through on their respective teams and happen to play guitars. It could be nothing like that but I agree with others that he started out strong but became worse with each performance. We on the boards couldn't be the only ones who think that so it was really surprising to me when he was voted through. My first thought was, "there's got to be women voting for him who think his raspy voice and guitar are hot". If course that's just my opinion.
  4. Agree. I seriously wonder if he got through based on women who probably voted for him because of his looks. He's ok but nothing special. I can see why a certain demographic would go for him though. I like Britton but I think he got through somewhat for the same reason. Young good looking kid. Reminds me of Noah Mac from last season except I think Britton has more talent. Has more than Pryor too so if he was even somewhat voted through based on looks it doesn't bother me. Pryor though?? Surely people don't find that raspy shouty voice that entertaining? Hence the reason I think a lot of women voted based on looks not talent.
  5. I totally agree. I was shocked after last night's performance that WILKES didn't get through. Pryor does nothing for me. As others have said he has one speed and that gets tiring after awhile. I honestly think Blake looked a little disappointed that he got through and was counting on his final two being WILKES and Spensha. There were a lot of surprises tonight. I also think Alicia and Adam were disappointed at who America put through. I couldn't believe Rayshun got the vote. IMO his was the worst performance tonight. I think Alicia was hoping for Christiana and Terrance as her final two. Kelly's team was the only one I thought came out with the best selections. So maybe this will go better for her than I expected. Once again I think Adam has the weakest team.
  6. Oh I know who you are talking about now. The blonde country boy who killed the Keith Whitley song. Yes he went through easily. He's got a great country voice and I see him going far. I hope your not confusing him with the better looking kid who's close to his grandma but sort of sang nasally in the first auditions. He was from Louisiana and his gran had moved in with the family after her husband died. He's the one who I was talking about seeing a brief clip of him having made it through although they didn't show him sing. Him and Trevor are the ones who were featured with their grandmothers. Caleb on the other hand was shown auditioning with his parents and did a impression of Luke's plug for a radio station. I'm not 100% sure it was her but I think they showed Amalia getting cut. I remember because of her Afro and thinking, "aww she didn't make it". But I guess there's a slim chance it could have been someone else as there was a lot of new faces I hadn't seen before tonight.
  7. The judges did a fake out with Ada Vox. After they told the front row they were through they hesitated and then said, "and the back row too" so if you had watched just a few more seconds you would have seen it. Is Caleb the good looking kid who's granny is his biggest fan? Yeah he made it through. I saw a brief clip of him smiling as they were talking about the ones who made it through. Not sure which one is Amalia?
  8. I thought his vocals were the weakest of the group but he's a good looking kid who, (like I stated above about Lane) is getting by a lot on his looks. I know that can only take you so far but image plays a big part in how far you go as well. I mean you only have to look at the last 25 years of music to see that.
  9. I really enjoyed tonights show. Don't know how much of it was the acoustics but I thought almost everyone's voice sounded better. I was surprised at some of the eliminations as well. They feature these artists, drag you into their stories and then eliminate them over others who have never been featured or weren't as good I think. I swear there were some who I don't ever remember seeing before tonight. I thought Lane was OK but was mostly gave a pass because of his image. He wasn't comfortable with the song and it wasn't his style of singing. He's good when he's in his wheelhouse but just based on tonight's performance I don't think he would have got through if he wasn't a good looking kid with the "it" factor. I think the judges could see him selling albums, concert tickets and all the screaming girls.
  10. I always like opening night crazy costumes and all. Like getting a first look at all the characters wondering how far they'll go and how it will all play out. I think Becca looked stunning. Her smile looked extra radiant and the cream colored gown really was beautiful on her. Much better than the black gown she wore for Arie's proposal.
  11. David Fransisco the last audition who was hit by a car is from my hometown. He moved to Nashville a couple of years ago. He was interviewed by the local news channel but couldn't reveal how far he made it/makes it. His fiance is now his wife they were married last month. I think he had a decent voice but am curious and looking forward to see if he has more depth. Not the best but certainly as good as or better than some they put through. I agree Laine was good and the girl from Oklahoma too. The boy with the sweet grandma was put through more because of looks I think. Seemed like a nice kid but his voice had a nasally odd tone to it I didn't care for. How many more nights of regular auditions are there until they show the Hollywood rounds? Anybody know?
  12. I agree. I too am surprised at how going from pics (yes of the men and women) the contestants don't always seem impressive but then when you see them on the show and get to know them it can totally change. Nick the lawyer reminds me somewhat of Jude Law. Nice looking but needs to smile more. He looks kind of pissed in his pics. David looks sweet but maybe a little too young? We'll see. I really hope that if jocks are Becca's type that at least some of these guys are intelligent also. Regarding some of them maybe signing up for someone else Clay the NFL player tweeted a pic of Becca with a red heart encircling her face so unless he's starting a possible performance early seems like he's all in for her.
  13. Oh I never said I felt sorry for her. I was just responding to the opinion that this was such a unspeakable deed on her part that they wouldn't watch her season. I just don't agree with that. I think she's fully aware of what she signed up for. She said about filming the break up scene that even though she was blindsided she signed up to have her love life filmed and that was part of it. She's aware of what the show is capable of but I would imagine she would refuse to do something that she didn't agree with. That's why I said I thought she would choose her battles wisely. I think she approached it much like Rachel did (or I hope she negotiated with the producers) and for the most part her season went well. Yes she signed up for it and I'm sure she's not going to come away from this unscathed but I wish her well and hope she finds her happiness.
  14. Just read on Reality Steve that the show had filmed part of Becca's intro for her season at the capital in MN. Now everything is making a lot more sense. This no doubt was all orchestrated by the show. Not sure how much say so she would have had in all this but I imagine if she tried to push back on something this early in filming it wouldn't go well for her the rest of the season. She would be labeled as difficult and was probably under pressure to do it that way. I would say she went along with it because she wants to pick her battles wisely. So really not as bad as was made out to be. Just par for the course for the show IMO.
  15. Exactly. I haven't seen anything about him being a friend of Becca's but to me he is the one mostly to blame here. He probably wanted to gain favor with voters who are Bachelor fans. And if he is a friend of hers than that makes even more sense to me that she would feel kind of obligated to attend. Just as on the ATFR when Chris mentioned the billboards she was like, " what, billboards?!?", she has garnered a lot of OTT sympathy that she didn't ask for but is put in the position of walking the tightrope of being realistic but not offending these fans either. Especially the ones from her home state. She's going to have a lot of major decisions to make as the Bachelorette and it's unfortunate that she made a less than desirable one here but she was kind of under the eight ball IMO. It certainly wasn't a action that warrants not watching her season I think but to each his own.
  16. Regarding Katy's salary... I may be confused but I vaguely remember when this reboot was announced months ago it being said that she was one of the producers and had a major part in bringing it back. So I'm not sure how her salary plays in all that. I'm slightly confused.
  17. I thought Noah who loved alpacas and the high school kid who was raised by her dad were the best. The kid with the high speaking voice who killed Frank Sinatra reminded me of We McDonald from the Voice a few seasons ago. I wasn't expecting that at all. Of the three judges I actually think Luke was the best tonight. Good advice with an eye for talent and a killer sense of humor. Things seemed to move at a slow pace though and we didn't see as many contestants in a episode as the old format. I'll give it a few more episodes to see if they change it up some more but so far it just seems like more of the same and just kind of meh.
  18. What does Lauren's family have to do with? It wasn't about her. And to be honest I don't care what Arie and Lauren's family think about it. They don't need to be worrying about Becca when their children have certainly not made the best decisions.
  19. Yes this is a little disappointing but according to a People article the representative who drafted this stated that it would not become a bill and that it was done tongue in cheek. He said it proved that you could connect with your constituents through social media and that Minnosotains had a sense of humor. Considering the fact that the lawmaker represented her hometown and had invited her to the capital I would imagine she was under a little pressure to appear. And I'm sure she was aware it wasn't a serious bill. A little embarrassing to start off her Bachelorette stint but if that's the worst she does it still couldn't hold a candle to Arie's stunts IMO. Certainly not enough to keep me from watching.
  20. I agree that with the, "us against the world" mentality they will probably stay together longer than they might normally. But as you both mentioned above when Arie gets tired of the constant reassuring and Lauren hopefully opening her eyes at some point this won't last. I'm sure there will always be some women willing to take on aging Arie and when in his eyes the cute helplessness of Lauren turns into nagging he'll bolt. Lauren may be in denial but hopefully as she ages she will evolve and mature. She's so wrapped up in her "perfect world" at the moment that she wouldn't even watch the break up film. And if she's heard anything about his past I'm sure she thinks it will be different with her. At some point though she may (when there's trouble in paradise) look back and wish she hadn't rushed into things. Then again as Arie and the relationship ages things may look less attractive too her and she moves on. She strikes me as the type that loves being "in love" as she's already had multiple engagements. Of course they could end up staying together but I would not be shocked in the least to hear they've split within the next couple of years.
  21. Yes! I think she's been doing a good job so far. Just keep taking the high road girl and focusing on finding your happiness. Arie don't know when to shut up. He just keeps making himself look worse. Dumbass.
  22. Of course it is that's a given. I see nothing in my post that suggests otherwise. And I realize that mental disease doesn't discriminate. I was mere!y shocked that a beautiful young woman who you would think had everything to live for would feel the need to take her life. No different than if it was a average pretty woman or even not very attractive. Did I really need to specify that? It was actually more musing than a literal question.
  23. That would have been excruciating. And they think Becca is boring!?!?
  24. Pretty much my thoughts. I have a feeling though that these two will stay together longer than they would have if he had just picked Lauren in the beginning simply to try and prove the skeptics wrong. If they actually make it to the altar. Which may be fairly good odds since Lauren is anxious to get this wrapped up. And (for all the reasons you listed above) they really are a good match. Two self centered, delusional dim people. How Lauren could think she got such a prize is beyond me though. A man who used an ex girlfriend's miscarriage to garner sympathy on TV by blatantly lying about how it happened and revealing something that was so personally devastating to her. Just so many things about this man that are despicable. Something else I thought was interesting was that Seinne was on Ashley and Ben's podcast and said she thought that if had it been reversed and Arie had chosen Lauren first and let Becca go then she was sure he would have done the same thing. He would have then been wondering about and wanting Becca back. Everyone wanted to say Bekah M was just being immature to release the messages Arie sent her and discussing her thoughts on his actions but now we have the level headed intelligent Seinne saying the same. I'm just glad this season's over. It's been long, boring and stressful. Not to mention it's left a really bad taste in my mouth.
  25. Isn't this the girl who committed suicide? She was stunning! What would make a beautiful woman like this take her own life? How tragic.
