  1. Yeah I think she should have sent them both home. Like two children fighting over something and both are wrong take the toy away and ground them both in one fell swoop. Done. Shut it down. Don't want to hear anymore about it. We're supposed to be adults here ain't got time for dealing with children. Geez. Ha! We hear this every season. Bach's and B'ettes. "I never thought I would be able to trust again, was worthy of, could open my heart again after (fill in the blank) hurt me...etc"). There's nothing new here. Right, and I would bet dollars to doughnuts that he did. Even on the slim chance he didn't I still think there's no way this guy is still a virgin. Can't wait to see what Tia's story is next week. I don't trust either one of them. C'mon Becca don't fall for this crap!
  2. I know, right? Can't help it. That was my first thought watching him tonight and now I can't unsee it.
  3. I think he did. One guy said he was in the tank before Jordan but Jordan came out before him. I noticed Lincoln shaking his timer to move his sand faster. So he's proven he can cheat to get what he wants and was being childish rubbing it in about the pic/win but Connor's response was OTT as well. He should have just ignored Lincoln and not played his game. Speaking of Connor on a totally shallow note his jawline reminds me of Quagmire from Family Guy.
  4. I agree with your whole post. Well stated. I will add that as well as being fun loving she also seems to be a fair B'ette as evidenced by sending home town boy home before the RC. I remember being impressed with Nick on his season when he sent Elizabeth, the woman he's had the quickie with at J&T wedding, home on like night 2 I think. Becca didn't wait that long. Not only did she realize she had nothing for this guy but cleverly and fairly foresaw that it could create unnecessary drama and wouldn't be fair to the other guys to keep him around. Girl was impressive with how quick she shut that down. I felt the same about Joe. Nice guy with average good looks but nothing that stood out to me. I'm with you. What did we miss??
  5. Oh I totally agree. I also think she's prettier than some of the earlier leads as well. Meredith, Jen and even Trista. It seems to me the conundrum that we sometimes face as viewers (or at least it's my opinion) is that if they're plenty gorgeous enough and they are not be as bland/boring as others then we will almost always find something we don't like about them to make them a less than desirable lead. Whereas Ashley, Desiree and Becca are/were considered boring I haven't heard them described in such heated/hated terms as some of the others have been. Kaitlyn in particular comes to mind. When Becca first appeared on Arie's season I thought she wasn't that attractive as well. But the more I saw her the more she grew on me and I realized she has some of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen on this franchise. And I suspect we will see her true nature shine through more than what we were shown with Arie. I guess it comes down to one's preferences but I like Becca's no nonsense, fair with flashes of fun attitude that I'm seeing so far.
  6. The guy with the pink-ish coat was Blake. He seems really down to earth and him and Becca seemed to have an easy rapport but I just don't find him terribly attractive. And I agree that coat stuck out like a sore thumb. I get that Becca isn't the most attractive Bacherlorette they've ever had but I think she's pretty enough and her personality is really shining through so far. We know there may be some unflattering editing ahead but barring anything majorly bad I think/hope she will have a good season.
  7. I wasn't seriously paying attention to who had roses and who didn't when she was calling each one but I just know how this show loves to do misleading editing at times. I think posters have actually noticed before them messing around with the order the roses have been given out. As you say it may not have been editing but that did seem a little odd.
  8. I don't know about previous leads but I don't think it was for political correct reasons. In an earlier Ellen show appearance she said her celebrity crush was Michael Stahan from GMA so I think she has a natural attraction to AA men. And although given the limited amount of time she had to spend with each contestant she said she picked based on her instincts and any connections she may have felt. Another poster observed how she had picked them seemingly in a continuous row of 6 or so. You always have to remember editing on this show and that they may have edited it to look that way. Not that it really matters but if edited I'm sure the show had their reasons for wanting it to appear that way. But to get back to your original thought I think she just picked who she liked and not for PC reasons.
  9. This is actually how I felt about Lauren B on Ben's season. I just couldn't get with all the Lauren love. She was perfectly fine and it was hard to put my finger on why I felt that way. I like that Becca seems at ease and in control at this point. Loved when she got the guys together for the pickup basketball game. That is something I could never see Barbie Lauren doing.
  10. I think the confusion comes from when Ryan was on ATFR with the banjo Wells tweeted out that Ryan was his brother for kicks. He later admitted he wasn't and that it was a prank but I think because they do actually have somewhat of a resemblance it kind of stuck.
  11. I got the same impression of Colton. He seems nice enough with the charity foundation and all but IDK he almost seemed too nice to me. Especially with the upcoming previews where he announces he's a virgin?? Not saying there can't be any out there but for a good looking guy his age I find that hard to believe. I just have a hinky feeling about this one.
  12. No it's not just you. Underwhelming to say the least.
  13. I thought Becca looked lovely in her gown and seemed real at ease. I know it's first night but I wasn't terribly impressed with any of these guys. Some observations: Garrett really brought it. Most at ease and confident. Smooth move to get Becca physically close (without being too cheesy and gross) with the fly fishing demonstration. And in Becca's words she's "smitten" already. He's going to be one to watch. Kamil with the female Camille pronunciation bombed majorly with the meet me 60/40 bizarre game out of the limo. And those snickers with a suit? Learn how to dress dude. I thought for sure Chris the tattle tale would be gone along with the loser he tattled on. I would have sent him home as well. He's not that attractive to me. Blake reminds me of a young Jack Palance. He may be a great guy but he's another one I don't find particularly attractive. Can't decide which one is going to be the villain at this point. Leo or Jordan maybe? Leo was making a lot of snarky observations. As was Jordan. Although Jordan could be the designated crazy one as well with his self love (did he really call himself eye candy?) and ditzy observations. Well here we go with another season. Hope it's better than the last one. Of course it won't take much to surpass that.
  14. Thanks for the cute reminder of just one of the reasons why Maddie won. She really was the best. Eclectic song choices, original, never boring. Remember Homeward Bound anyone? I think her and Disney can work well together. Yes America really did get it right.
  15. Yes!! Way to go Maddie! How nice to see a well qualified woman win for a change. I think I'm still in a little shock. I was wanting her to win for quite some time but I really didn't expect it based on past voting trends. Really hope they surround her with good people who can help her achieve her best. I'm excited to see what they can do with her. Actually surprised the top 3 fell just as I hoped it would. And what a nice little surprise at the end when Caleb said Maddie was his girlfriend. Hope they will support each other and not let it sidetrack them.
  16. That was my initial thought too. Trying to influence the vote? I'm sure she's aware Caleb and Gabby have a sizeable fan base and indie type artists like Maddie don't normally fare as well on these type of shows. Maybe the negative feedback has caught up with them and producers instructed them to finally do their job. Ditto, ditto, ditto on all the posts concerning Gabby's performance last night and her season long attitude. Wouldn't be surprised if she won though. Pulling for Maddie with Caleb runner up.
  17. Maybe "giddy" was not the right word but they both did seem to be very happy. This is what I saw. Did you watch? I'm beginning to think we are taking about different episodes. You mean he "loved" another. You will always carry that love in your heart but you can't love a ghost. A ghost of a love can not be your companion, friend and confidante. I see your point about loving another so soon after losing a love. But this was not a ordinary situation. Miss Coke had showed him compassion and empathy when he lost Drummond so he knew he could talk to her about and grieve over Drummond and she would give him the time needed to do that. As I've said I don't know where the writers are going with this. Lord Alfred could just as well stay and grow to love her or he could find another man to love within the understanding of the marriage. You seem to know how they would feel as you said they "pretend feelings" or they "betray themselves". You assume to know Lord Alfred is strictly homosexual when he could just as well be bisexual. I have seen bisexuals end up with only one sex or at the very least learn to love either sex. So him falling for his wife over time is within the realm of possibility if that be the case. Maybe that's where the writers are going. Or maybe not. They both have things to gain from the marriage so maybe it will be more like a amicable and rewarding business partnership. But your contention seems to be that there is no way they can be happy together. My observation from watching the episode is quite the contrary. They seemed to be, if happy isn't the right word, content. Yes they acted very content. But again we will see. ETA: After checking I see we were talking about different episodes. Sorry if I've spoiled anything. It had been awhile since I had watched so when I got your notification I automatically answered back not realizing there was another episode to go.
  18. I will take this to the History Talk topic since I'm not sure if it violates the spoiler policy and the mods have been posting warnings.
  19. I can see why you would feel that way but honestly the show was kind of vague on exactly what kind of marriage it would be. I know they certainly never showed them discussing that it was to be a marriage of convenience only. Maybe we the audience were to just assume that? I do know they both seemed to be giddy with happiness. Maybe that was because they had both found a good as can be expected situation with someone they actually liked and admired. But I disagree that neither would be a basis for a permanent relationship. If they had this understanding going in that they would love and respect each other as friends, with both having the freedom to discreetly pursue romantic relationships as they saw fit, then I see no reason why it couldn't be a successful partnership. As I said I don't know where the writers intend to go with this but we will see.
  20. Oh you missed it? Yes he indeed did. Specifically he asked her to do him the great honor of being his wife. Why would his lover just dying have to raise any doubtful motives? If anything I would think it strengthens the argument that he really cared for Miss Coke. Drummond dying so unexpectedly I believe made him realize that life was short and that he should seize the chance to find some happiness in his life. Miss Coke was very compassionate and understanding of his grief after losing Drummond. He came to realize what a lovely person she was and that she may be his best chance at finding some form of happiness. They both stood to gain from the union for various reasons but one of the reasons I think that gave it a good chance to last was that these two really liked each other. Which is so important. You can love someone but not actually like them. So they had a deep fondness, respect and admiration for each other. Not a bad basis for something deeper to form. But if not then I believe he would conduct himself in a way that was the least harmful and embarrassing to her. Like I said before that was my perception of it. But of course I have no idea where the scriptwriters are going with this next season. We'll just have to wait and see.
  21. I don't pretend to know how society dealt with these types of marriages or what the norm was in these situations but if what you say is so than that doesn't mean they had to necessarily adhere to it. It doesn't mean it couldn't have happened that they would be close friends. I would think there were outliers. I'm sure there were many bisexuals and homosexuals who did marry as fronts to society but we're talking about how the show or scriptwriters choose to present it. And that is that Lord Alfred seemed very excited and anxious for Miss Coke to accept his proposal. He seemed very respectful and admiring of her. We have seen that the show has no problem in stretching the truth so even though it may have been a forgone conclusion that that was the case the show gave us no hint of understanding that this would be a marriage in name only. My perception was that Lord Alfred truly thought of her as a friend and there was a unspoken bond between them that he was willing and anxious to want to love her beyond that. Or at least try. I think he had too much love and admiration for her as a friend to do otherwise. I could be wrong but that was my perception. You may have saw it differently of course.
  22. This is exactly why I don't like her. Her lack of humility coupled with her arrogance is too much for me. And yes @kili I agree how your persona comes across, whether good or bad, has a lot to do with your success. I know artists that although I like their music ok I don't like them. Which makes me less than enthused to buy their music. I predicted weeks ago @Ladyrain that she would leave Cade behind in the dust if she got in the finale and he didn't. He himself stated to a reporter when asked about her that he "adored" her. No doubt he boosted her ego even more but now that she has surpassed him she doesn't need him anymore. Or so it seems to me. Oh well they say pain and life experiences make for good songwriting so maybe Cade can channel his efforts that way. I won't be mad if she wins but I will be disappointed. And she probably will. Or I will be surprised if she doesn't. I'm not that crazy about her voice, but I really don't like her, so I won't be buying any of her music if she does.
  23. I don't know I think there's a deep friendship and understanding between them that I would suppose in those days was rare. A great foundation to grow into romantic love and it's not as if he rejected Drummond for her due to social obligations therefore making her second. There's room in a heart for more than one love. The memory of one and the one that makes it's own place in your heart.
  24. My thoughts also. I know Ryan says the results are in no particular order but I have to wonder. If we were to go by order called then Caleb is most definitely the winner. IIRC he's been called first for the last 4 to 5 times. Anyone else notice that?
  25. I missed the first half of the show last night so I just caught up. I was expecting it to be less than great according to many posts but I have to disagree with some of them. I really thought Cade did a decent job with "Undo It" and I loved Maddie's version of "I Told You So". To me she stayed close enough to the original but put her own Maddie flavor to it also. Contrast that to Gabby who did a good job but pretty much did a imitation of Carrie. Nothing new. Michael and Caleb did the "worst" if you want to call it that but their's wasn't terrible. Combining the second performance for an all around effort I think that Gabby's was a solid technically good showing, just nothing original. Michael's was ok but not as good as we've seen from him in the past. Cade did a decent job with both songs IMO but too late in the game for him to compete with the much better vocal talent. Caleb more than made up for his poor showing in the first round with his great song choice in the second. So down to Maddie and I have to say she has been the most consistent throughout the competition and tonight was no exception. She will probably not win but it will be a shame if this girl doesn't get a recording contact following this. I love her arrangements, her voice and her persona. I think she is ready now to make lovely music. I can imagine her on the radio now and doing duets with the likes of Ed Sheeran.
