  1. If I remember the Variety article correctly, they said they might show flashbacks to those missing months for both Abbie and Ichabod.
  2. Words and Pictures, huh? I like Music and Lyrics because of the dialogue; I should give that a try.
  3. Phoenics, do you watch Bones (or did you watch past seasons)? If so, you must have LOVED that comparison in the Variety article!! Yeah, whatever they might say during fan events, the writers are definitely looking down the road. I suppose that makes sense. Fans have a tendency to take what's said and dial it up to 11. If they even hinted at a relationship in a first or second season fans would be expecting them to be in bed together in an handful of episodes. By saying "Not really planning on going there right now" they have a opportunity to start the slow burn. (I know, Phoenics! I KNOW!!)
  4. As I've said before, I'd be thrilled with a female-centric Sleepy Hollow as long as Abbie is first and foremost in the eyes of both Ichabod and the show runners. But I find it really interesting that Fox is doubling-down on that when their show has reportedly skewed male in the past. Hopefully they'll gain female viewers without losing male ones. And while Katrina is kept in that opening image of her waving her arms up like she's casting a spell - the scene at the very beginning, before the mist steals over Sleepy Hollow - thank God they took out the parts of her and Ichabod walking towards each other and stealing a kiss in the graveyard. They didn't even try to pretend the shadowy person was Betsy Ross. Maybe the other two regulars (both men) will be added afterwards. We have no idea what kind of shoestring budget they may be working with. Or it could be plot-driven (like the credits for Deep Space 9's first show, and this *is* essentially a reboot), or maybe they didn't want to draw too much attention to Orlando not being there.
  5. Obviously they're living together as friends, not as lovers or even crushes. But I love the implicit promise that they are the Dynamic Duo of this show, no matter how much others might want to play. As long as they come first with each other, I can live with it. (Not that I'm not hoping for more than that down the road, though!)
  6. Huh, so it actually *is* Abbie's camisole. Well hell, if this me being wrong, I don't wanna be right.
  7. I do think expect this to follow classic Batman lines. Otherwise what's the point if they don't being something new? Jerome is Joker enough to me. Can't wait to see him and little Mazouz square off. Which reminds me: I'm still of the opinion this little guy has it in him to be the best damn Bruce Wayne you ever saw.
  8. I thought it was interesting that Sheldon took control of his OCD long enough to do one knock and sans name to boot. You could tell it was agony for him. He really wanted her to open that door VERY badly.
  9. I find promos are incredibly misleading and are usually created to get people talking - which means controversy. Don't believe for one second that any romantic or shippy overtones aren't created deliberately to stir up the fan base. They'd rather have us ticked off and watching than complacent. (Not ticked off and leaving, though. Whether the show runners have learned anything from last year remains to be seen, but you'd better believe that Fox wouldn't have done that kind of 180 unless they knew there had been a serious effect on ratings.)
  10. I can tell you right now that camisole doesn't belong to Abbie. Why in the hell would Ichabod be washing her camisole? That doesn't even make sense. What was shippy to me was the playful, teasing look she had and Ichabod's sheepishness. Honestly, I'm looking for Ichabbie moments in the subtle ways right now; that usually comes before the more blatant moments. I'm not expecting anything in the way of blatant, obvious shipper moments - that recently tweeted Fox video is far more blatant than anything I had expected right out of the gate. Honest to God, if I'd seen that in real life I'd have tiptoe out assuming I was interrupting a *very* private moment. Hell, I'm still half expecting that to be a dream sequence. So they can throw every camisole from every woman in Sleepy Hollow at Ichabod and have him swim in them if they want to; doesn't even begin to compare to that video.
  11. It was subtle, but reading between the lines Sheldon (under his childish, assholish temper tantrum) is massively hurt. At least that's how I read the lines "[Men] don't kiss you and make you say I love you and then leave you." From his perspective, he's changed significantly due to Amy's influence and now it appears it's for nothing. I'd be interested in seeing a combination of A) Sheldon realizes he's not going to "get over" Amy any easier than he can get over anything else (and really, maybe that's where some of the anger and desperation is coming from), and B) he realizes that despite that, the relationship was a good thing in his life that helped him grow and he's grateful for it no matter what happens. Obviously I'm on Team "Let Sheldon grow!" But I think you can do that and still find funny jokes.
  12. I love that they're thinking about how to integrate Jenny into this world - not that she's not already, but it's through Abbie and Ichabod. This way she might be able to be the catalyst in some stories or even a driver, and not just the supporting muscle that's called in when needed.
  13. Me too. But I'm not assuming facts not in evidence at this point.
  14. Phew. I think I need to hang out in here a little while...find some people who don't think Sleepy Hollow is a suckfest waiting to happen because of a corset or a word choice from the show runners, and that somehow I'm not saying it's impossible that I'll look at the first episode and groan about how awful it is, because that is a real possibility and I'm bracing myself for that. And I'm *not* including in this complaint concerns regarding the treatment of black women on shows and Abbie in particluar and their story lines and how they are viewed by the show runners or general media or the audience; that all needs to be shouted from rooftops with waving flags until someone in power finally gets a clue and starts changing things. I just want to keep an open mind on the possibility that it might not suck! I like the idea that there will be lots of interesting women on the show. As long as Abbie comes first with Ichabod and the show runners (She. Is. The. Lead.) and the rest of them are three-dimensional and don't take over the show, I honestly love the idea that this could become female-centric. As for shipping, I'm as big a one as you will find, but I don't expect anything from this season other than the usual slow burn and maybe a few teases on the idea. (Unless it turns out to be a last season, in which case they'll do it last minute if they do it at all.) Nor does it bother me to hear they're not concentrating on shipping behind the scenes; I've been hearing that in shows since I was tween, and they all go there in the end. And while I recognize the very real barrier to romance that racism poses, the cynical part of me says that with the success of Empire, The Flash and Shonda Rhimes shows, some bean-counter is going to finally get it in his head that the passionate shipping from a certain subset of fans might mean a romance will bring in the eyeballs if nothing else is working. So - at least right now - I'm actually more convinced there'll be potential Ichabbie a-brewin' this season than in most shows I'm watching. I love this show. I want it to do well. I'm giving it a chance and keeping it an open mind. I really think if I gave in to the negativity and convinced myself that it's going to be a disaster and did nothing but grouse about how much it's destined to suck, then the show would have to be absolutely fucking stellar every episode in order for me to grudgingly change my mind. That's not fair to it; it should be allowed to be good, occasionally great, and get its kudos for turning the ship out of the iceberg.
  15. I'm with you. I don't see the point of hand wringing at this juncture, predicting the series is doomed based on one promo and a few negative/mixed reviews (among all the positive ones) and a few tidbits dropped here and there among the spoiler sites who are spinning them for maximum clickbait. The *actual dammed show* is airing less than a week - at that point I'll know if I want to watch episode two, and then episode three, and so on and so forth. I think it's time for me to revive the positivity thread and hang out there. Exclusively.
  16. I had no problem with Crusher's decision character-wise, because not everyone could just follow their lover from body to body regardless of factors like sex. I think, however, her explanation would not have been as hetero centric or ciscentric had it been written today or even at the time of DS9. And obviously at this time Odan was written to be exactly the same person regardless of what body the symbiont was in, which is not how the character would have been written in DS9. In that show Beverly would have lost the man she knew the minute the symbiont was transferred into Riker's body, let alone the female Trill host. But of course that would have changed the story to something like Beverly trying to find the man she knew in Riker, and Symbiont!Riker saying "Back off, I ain't interested no more, lady!" The stakes would not have been as big nor the impact as great. Obviously the real reason for the differences in the Trill from series to series is that they had worked out how they wanted the species to work long-term by DS9, which they didn't have to do for "The Host". I think my favourite fanwank for it is that the two belong to different subspecies of Trill, with Odan's people actually named "Trylls". There should be a thread for our favourite fanwank theories regarding Star Trek.
  17. Mark (from Mark Does Stuff) is on this season now. Just about every episode is blowing his mind.
  18. While there is a long way to go, it's encouraging that in trying to name all the leading black actresses on television one would have to do some homework and not know a scanty 2-3 names off the top of one's head.
  19. I really like that. It's visually appealing, and I like that you can interpret it as being out the outs with each other or having each other's backs.
  20. It really depends on the industry and the area you live in. In any case, however it looks there's no way to tell if the young fellow is just naive or is following instructions. I'm in HR and for my company (manufacturing) we'd expect someone with a professional degree to interview in a suit. However, we're business casual in dress code and in a rural area where someone who knows the company might know that and dress accordingly. So if they were otherwise a great candidate, we'd probably dismiss the oversight, ensure the employee knew the dress code during orientation and then watch to see if he/she can comply.
  21. If I remember correctly, CC had briefly struggled with the perception that she was "too big" for teen on TV. She managed to get through it by talking to others (including her real-life brother Kirk Cameron, I think), but that storyline probably hit a little close to home.
  22. Wax Lion, how would you describe the show? Because I've read several articles now and I still have no idea what it's about.
