Well, they could do in school suspension for JJ - but at the HS level, the punishment is usually suspension. If that suspension were to last more than 10 days, a manifestation determination meeting would have to be held. I think rather that if JJ were suspended, Maya might feel a mixture of anger and happiness - anger at JJ for cheating, anger at Kenneth for allowing it, and anger at the school for suspending him; the happiness would be at JJ for doing something stupid that a teen might do and getting the same treatment as his nondisabled peers. I would imagine with a student like JJ, they would have him take test in a separate environment, but Maya might raise hell over that and have him take it with the rest of the students, then if he needs more time, goes somewhere else to finish it. I definitely like a Maya-Jimmy plot, and a Kenneth and the kids subplot - though it might be fun if it were just Kenneth, JJ, and Dylan - maybe Ray is on a school trip or something. A Kenneth-JJ-Dylan pairing for a B-Plot would be interesting.

Or they are doing upgrades at a prison, it turns out to be Happy's dad's prison, and due to something that goes wrong, the prison goes into lockdown. And Paige/Sylvester becomes an ordained minister through the Internet and marries Happy and Toby.

So I was just thinking about good ideas for future episodes - i'd like to see one that is just something ordinary - like JJ taking a test in a class. It would be interesting for the show to show how different something like taking a test can be for someone with a disability. I'm guessing he has Kenneth as a scribe for essays, but jeez, JJ must get whiplash from writing an essay. Or they could make it about something more sitcom friendly - like the SATs, that's more of a "sitcom thing" than just a regular test in a class - have JJ taking the SATs, maybe Ray, while Dylan is just doing a standardized test (Or they have her taking the PSATs a few years early).

They might have Ray get a job there in Season 2. JJ's the oldest at 16, Dylan is the youngest at 13. So Ray is 14 or 15. I'd guess 15, so he's too young to get a job. If he turns 16 during season 2, he can get a job then - i'd say Maya would force him into it, but he might find a job by just wandering into a place, seeing it is disorderly, then tidying it up and getting offered a job.

This episode was hilarious. When the guy moved JJs chair I got *pissed* for him. That isn't something you do. My favorite lines in the episode: "Kenneth, is this the end of a magic trick that I don't understand?" "You guys are like a bunch of ducks!" Maya's interaction with the woman whose car Ray thought she dinged was surprisingly hilarious. I was expecting something like the owner of the car would follow Maya around to try to talk to her, some kind of cat and mouse thing. Instead, it was much better.

I dunno. There are some religious groups who think you should pop kids out until you cannot.

I have a BA in Elementary & Special Education. Here in NJ, the big retirement wave of teachers was 2010-2012, due to... changes implemented by our rotund governor.

Jeez, that episode was boring. Might've been good as like a penultimate episode or something... but they had like 2 minutes, max, of the present day stuff.

Jimmy was in Grad School when he met Maya, right? So that would put him around 23-25 when they met? Let's say Maya is 1-2 years younger, so she would've been 21-23 when they met. Let's say they had JJ when Jimmy was 26 - so Maya would've been 24-25, JJ is 16, so Maya would be 40-41. I wonder when JJs birthday is - we know that Dylan's is sometime after February 26th - the 2017 Oscars.

They have the basement, which is probably considered another bedroom - but they wouldn't want to have a young kid or a frail father in there. I'm guessing one of them has an office.

"State department" is usually the cover job for anyone in the CIA. The CIA infiltrating the State Department would be ridiculously illegal - they aren't allowed to operate on US soil I think that has to be a *very* high dose to kill instantly - and there would probably be signs of that.

I think they just consider him part of the family now - it doesn't sound like he has much in the way of family - so it's a mutually beneficial relationship. Maybe in case JJ needed assistance during Dylan's party?

That episode was great - I liked JJ's journey and how it showed how some things - such as the crosswalk button, are not accessible to all. I like how JJ got off the bus - used his laser pointer to get the attention of the driver. Dylan's plot was great. 4th birthday Dylan looked a *lot* like like - maybe a relative of hers?

With the basket of pears - I have some experience with what you get when a loved one dies. When my grandfather (mom's dad) died in 2005, my mom (a town employee) got a basket of fruit (a whole assortment) from her department - my dad received a basket of fruit and candy. When my step-grandmother (mom's step-mother) died in 2010, my mom got nothing from her department and my dad's work sent a basket of fruit. When my dad's brother died in 2012, nothing from my mom's work and my dad got a gigantic basket of fruit, cheese, crackers, cookies, and chocolate. None of them had signed cards, because they used one of those online sites to purchase a basket - I think for one of them, they called a florist near our house and made the purchase over the phone. They all had a semi-generic message, with an all-inclusive signature.

I think they might've been the same group of moms that Maya mentioned in the earlier episodes - it sounded like JJ went to a great elementary/middle school - then the problems came with HS. So I am guessing they have moved around a lot in a small area - just enough to get in a different district. I'm guessing the car in the garage was at their old house and Jimmy moved it sometime - probably a pet project for him so he had something to work on.

Why can't he get the vaccines again? If it is how he reacted in the past - if it is an allergy, that doctor is just stupid for not doing the waiver. If it was a non-allergy adverse reaction, maybe think about a slow administration of the vaccines, see how he responds? Though the doctor might not want to do the waiver because she's just the neurologist - pediatrician *is* more appropriate for vaccine stuff, even if the neurologist is the point person for the disabling condition(s). The implementation of the IEP is up to the school - they just have to provide access to special education services and all of the related services in the IEP.
