  1. It is scary that Jill will be delivering babies after watching what she did with her own delivery. I too think it's great that she finished something. As far as Derick being proud, Gothard women are permitted to make money doing "women's work", and I would think midwifery is considered women's work to them.
  2. Perfect!!!!
  3. Do you guys think RU is doing a tight shot because Josh is there? Or because he is not and they want to keep the increased interest?
  4. I'm not sure, but I think it is CofCinci. I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right though.
  5. Responding to 3girlsforus: I read a little about them and checked out their FB page. Holy WOW. They appeared in court today, this is the summary. HARDINSBURG, KY. — A custody case highlighting the controversy over "off-grid" families continues to work its way through the courts. Attorney Rick Hardin, who represents Joe and Nicole Naugler, said a hearing on Thursday in Breckinridge County did not resolve the case. He said a disposition hearing was set for early November. Child protection workers removed the couple's 10 children from the family's tumbledown shack in May after an anonymous complaint. The state returned the children in July but retains legal custody. The Nauglers say they haven't neglected their children, but are loving parents who choose to raise them in an "off-grid" lifestyle without public electricity, running water or a flushable toilet. Meanwhile, Hardin said a menacing charge against Joe Naugler has been resolved with an Alford plea, which means he maintains his innocence while conceding there is sufficient evidence for a conviction.
  6. Responding in Small Talk.
  7. I think they'd be living in the TTH that would have 3 bedrooms (w/ tons of bunk-beds) and 2 bathrooms upstairs, and one massive room downstairs, with a half-assed kitchen and w/ 2 more bathrooms. I think they would have 19 kids, girls with perms all dressed in Green Blouse type shirts, jean skirts and flip-flops, boys in khakis, polos and taped up cowboy boots. The boys would be working at the used car lot/towing business. They would be making soap and bread and would be living off love offerings. And everyone from Jinger on up would be married (well maybe not JD).
  8. Yes & no. I think it is different enough to grab an audience, I think it would bring money into a place stricken with poverty (looks good for TLC), probably plenty of Duggars hopping on planes to join them, a VSE of Jill gives birth in Central America, a VSE of Derick doing a remote mission, etc. But then again, maybe not, Who knows?
  9. Me thinks maybe there will be a Jill & Derick move to Central America spin-off.
  10. Izzy is moving to Tibet?
  11. Yes, this is totally crazy and a case of racial profiling! However they did show a picture of the clock he made & it does not look like a typical clock, even to the point that the first teacher he showed suggested he not show any other teachers. But still, take a minute to ask a few questions before you call in the frickin SWAT team. Obama has also invited him to the White House.
  12. I've looked for that on YouTube, but have never found it. Did they cut that part out?
  13. Yehp and to Jana, when she helped out at JTTH, was young & impressionable and Gothard was probably the closest thing to God to her. Scary bad.
  14. Yehp, not a good look for anyone over 3.
  15. How 'bout someone start a genuine movement of goodness? Nah, who'd buy into that?
  16. Right, and before I got my head turned around I was thinking the money would go directly to what they were doing, not paying their salary.
  17. Many of you posters have changed the way I'm looking at the donor money. With all these fundraising sites that people use, it is usually for something more specific, i.e. funeral costs, medical costs, etc. Jill & Derick are essentially fundraising for their non-profit, and even many of the better known non-profits barely put any money into their actual cause.
  18. My kids drank an occasional bottle lying down.
  19. The little bits of Gothard rhetoric I have read gives such conflicting messages about women. Men are supposed to revere and protect women. Yet women should never say no to a man, nor be smarter or more successful than men. They suspend women in a childlike position and put all the pressure on the man to make all decisions and financially support the family. So not only are they not socialized properly, they are sent continuous idiotic (IMO) messages regarding women and sex. Their fragile egos are so protected that when they're exposed to the real world they can't make sense of all these capable strong woman who rely on no one but themselves, which in the end must emasculate the Gothard males. And what better way for the emasculated man to prove to himself that he is THE man but by acting out sexually.
  20. So will Priss & David and Michael & Brandon be moving too?
  21. ???????
  22. I'm curious about Michelle and menopause and empty nest. Menopause for me, was truly uneventful, so uneventful my husband didn't realize it happened until at least a year post menopause. Empty nest however, was super hard for me, but I adjusted better than I thought cuz my kids are boomeranging now, and this is also hard adjustment. Michelle may secretly be happy not to be able push out any more blessings, and may truly not realize that what defined her no longer does. She seems to be a little out there and other than pregnancy & 6 months of nursing her life hasn't really changed. JB & M will really never truly empty nest if they end up with a bijillion grandchildren though, so I think there are kind of lucky with that.
  23. I agree the double toilet is weird. They have potty chairs for little ones and step stools for preschoolers. My kids managed to get their little heinies on a grown-up toilet.
  24. I think Michelle connects with the outspoken children because she is forced to. The quiet ones, who stay to themselves, are left to do just that. I think JB favors Jill because that is how he imagined Michelle would be as a mom & wife. Not in a creepy way, more in that Jill genuinely loves her buddies in a very natural way, and didn't shy away from "woman's work". Sadly, though many of you disagree, with the exception of her teen crush on Derick, I think Jill is one of the more mature one's , even with her naivete.
  25. I also remember Pa Seewald responding to JB's worries of Ben's young age, by saying something to the effect of "No worries, having kids will mature him, it matured me".
