  1. So it is an association with no oversight? I also wonder if they use the words Primary & Assistant interchangeably during training, to make sure students get the hours. And... if the test is an at home online test, a tester would have their books from which to access the answers from.
  2. Y'all gave me an ear worm - had to share. (Beach Boys) "Well East coast girls are hip I really dig those styles they wear And the Southern girls with the way they talk They knock me out when I'm down there"
  3. Because Ben is that hung up on appearances. He thinks his is handsome and buff, then went after the pretty fundie celebrity. Pretty is as pretty does.
  4. If Jinger has a crush on anyone, the perfect way to get him to notice her is to stand near him in a picture.
  5. Birthing babies is serious. My first labor was looonngg! The pregnancy itself, under the care of a doctor, was normal and uneventful. The delivery was tough & traumatic. Forceps & suction was needed to get my son out. At that late stage in the delivery what would Jill do? Are midwives, lay or professional, trained to assist deliveries in that fashion? My son had also inhaled meconium & was jaundice. Jaundice doesn't show up right away, does the midwife do a follow up right away? My kids were also seen by their pediatrician in the hospital within a day of being born. Do midwives insist newborns be seen by an MD?
  6. Oh, I forgot one that happened before I was born. Bob Hope was golfing in our town, on a visit. This is long before leash laws ever existed. My parents woke up Monday morning and there was their dog shaking hands with Mr. Hope on the golf course on the front page of the newspaper.
  7. Poor Amy, barely wiping the sand off her feet from her honeymoon, and there she is again being associated with that family. Poor, poor Amy.
  8. I have to say that articles like these piss me off though. It is not cool to keep invalidating any survivor of abuse no matter how the survivors interpreted it. The implicit message is for victims to keep their mouths shut because nobody will believe them. And that message sucks.
  9. Shit, I'm a 50-something, and I'm still amazed at how much there is still to learn.
  10. I've got 2 kinda, sorta, celebrity stories: As a teen I went to many concerts. At a J Geils concert I was lifted on stage by a friend and Peter Wolf proceeded to hug & kiss me. The next day an article in the local paper referenced an overzealous teen girl at the concert. My daughter was actually on the MTV show Made. She was the counterpart to a shy football player, trying to loosen him up around females. I guess we're a family of trollops. ;)
  11. Maybe Jana will be ready for courting after speaking with Michael. Maybe she'll tell her it doesn't have to "be quick" and it is actually enjoyable. I think the Bateses actually feel their feelings, so if Michael is enjoying her marriage and 'independence' maybe she will purpose to encourage Jana to consider marriage. I think part of Michelle's problems (& there are many) is she, and all the Duggars put their 'work' first. Every action & reaction is couched with "this will be good for TV". They are a very calculating bunch. I remember multiple Duggars saying that the TV crew often knows things first, before the rest of the family. And Josh even called the crew to come over before he told Anna something - maybe a positive pregnancy test. And not to defend Michelle, but I think her explanation about her kids having phones and recording Jason's fall was to make herself look better. She must have had a moment of clarity thinking filming an injured kid doesn't make for a caring & concerned parent. And still, every time I read Jason, I'm like - who?
  12. Can't wait. (I hope somebody sins or somebody is saved)
  13. Sponsors also know that many people are initially reactive and then the intensity of the feelings fade away. One would need to bring a sponsor list with them when they shop to avoid uses their products. TLC and the sponsors can also count on haters not watching and therefore not knowing who to boycott. Also since the Joshgates provided a lot of publicity there will certainly be new watchers initially that likely will have no investment in boycotting products.
  14. I like the mustard sweaters. I have one too. :)
  15. David is acting his way through life, and even little Halloween incidents turn into full blown God episodes through David's script writing. David wrote what he planned and wished for, not what really happened.
  16. I was going to say any other parent would want their kids to be successful independent of them, but then Kris Jenner ... Brooke Shields' mom, and the dude's parents from way back when who made the law for regular child actors. But the difference is JB's kids are adults and I do believe he will try and get a piece of the financial pie. ETA: I hope the M & Ms get screen time and are paid for it. For the kids' and Anna's sake.
  17. So Jessa & Ben are in FL? Does Alyssa live anywhere near the Kellers?
  18. Sorry about your Gramma Frenchie, and hope your brother continues to mend. Will you be getting a white beagle?
  19. I think part of the reason people watch is because they are appalled, and they look to see if there is any glimmer of the kids or even JB & M altering their reality. Also they are controversial, even without train wrecks happening. They spur conversation ranging from intelligent, to snarky, to humorous. I think they also force self-reflection, for both the haters, humpers and everyone in between.
  20. Sorry for your losses leighroda. I've lost 1 brother and my parents, and at times half kiddingly refer to myself as an orphan. I do have kids, but I too, find all these "Re-post & Celebrate if you have ..." on FB obnoxious. A short time after my father's death FB was promoting a Scrapbook thing, I log on one day and there is my Dad's picture staring me in the face, it can be tough for sure. Again, sorry for your losses.
  21. I wonder if the last few social media teases were the last test to see if they were sustainable.
  22. I think we need to give the public credit. once this show became a series it was pretty evident what the Duggars represented. Their oppression of woman is glaringly obvious, as well their conservative Christian beliefs . I don't think the Duggars nor TLC have fooled that many viewers even if that was their intent.
