  1. My old firm represented a non-profit whose board and officers were completely derelict in their duties as the executive director embezzled AND mismanaged the organization. We'd remind them a couple of times a year what their bylaws and state law required them to do. It turned out that no one on the board had asked about or read a report or financial statement about non-profit in years. It was not looking pretty as the AG came after them. I actually left for a different job in a different state before it was resolved. The real problem with not treating your corporate officers, directors, a
  2. Ruth Madoff actually worked as a bookkeeper early on when Bernie started his firm. She was also a director. But it seems like she hadn't been an active participant in the firm for decades. Teresa's downfall was less Joe's initial crimes, but that she and Joe lied and hid assets in their bankruptcy proceedings, despite being warned by their attorneys not to do so. She might be ignorant of Joe's initial crimes, but she doubled down on criminality when given the opportunity to be truthful. Erika's attorneys petitioning to be removed suggests something similar might be happening. It soun
  3. So this show is probably canceled because Bethenny just "left" her MGM Development Deal. https://people.com/tv/bethenny-frankel-ended-business-deal-mgm-mark-burnett/
  4. The story might have been ridiculous, but the police didn't really put in any effort to investigate it. Law enforcement ignored every bit of evidence that contradicted their theory of the case. If it that theory can't withstand a little bit of scrutiny, then maybe there's little to no reason to believe it. They put the phone on airplane mode, refused to perform a rape examination, and they seemingly never investigated where the calls from the kidnapper were coming from. If the kidnapping had been fake and they'd done their due diligence, the police would probably still be on 20/20 or Dateline.
  5. "Legal counsel" is not synonymous with "lead attorney". Legal counsel is all of the things done for your client, firm, or entity in that jurisdiction that are permissible duties and tasks for the practice of law. Legal counsel includes research, drafting documents, and reviewing records. It's not just going to court and meeting with clients. I think there's also this assumption that Eboni wasn't an active part of part of legal representation for the firm's clients. We don't know if Eboni sent memos on to the lead attorney about legal strategies and arguments for cases. She probably did. M
  6. Junior lawyers assisting, doing research, and playing second fiddle to more senior attorneys is literally how the vast majority of legal practice works at big and small firms, inside counsel, and working at a government agency. It's also why there are still a couple of states that allow people to apprentice with a lawyer in lieu of getting a JD. Equating it to being a glorified paralegal or just doing grunt work fundamentally misunderstands how the profession works. And that also explains why Eboni might have left the firm to join the public defenders office. The PDs office in most jurisdictio

  8. This show always reminds me that law enforcement in the US has almost zero interest in prevention or harm reduction. How many times do people have to keep going to the police to warn the police that things are about to pop off? And nearly every time the police are like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. We need to completely reconceptualize policing and how people access social services in the US.
  9. I almost never pay attention to Deuxmoi, but I think this is actually true. It seems as if the show has taken some pains to hide Milokssy's background because it doesn't really fit The Big Shot's mostly bullshit narrative. Milokssy's own website suggests that it might be true: Pam Levine was at Fox for 15 years before joining HBO in 2011. She left HBO in 2016 and went back to Fox. She got pink slipped in 2019 when Disney bought much of Fox's assets. She's been unemployed since then. https://www.linkedin.com/in/pamela-levine Courteney Monroe left HBO in 2011 and has
  10. It's because the brown short jacket has a cinched waist that's actually well above Kate's true waist. You can tell Kate's waist isn't that high because the tops of her legs are actually below the hem of the jacket. That cinched waist of the jacket is doing a lot to hide Kate's long torso.
  11. Bite your tongue. There's an icy quality that they both share, but Martha is an entirely different sort of bad parent from Little Kathy. Little Kathy is lot like Big Kathy; she's almost as dangerously exploitative as Big Kathy. I don't know how she managed to be so blasé about Conrad's worsening behavioral problems and him continuing to spend time with the same person she claims ruined Paris' life (Rick Salomon). Martha is withholding and demanding, but she would have never let the Paris or Conrad situation happen. Martha is also inherently smarter than Little Kathy. Little Kathy is just the

  13. Warner Bros and HBO agreed to let them go for money until 2025. https://www.techjunkie.com/best-place-watch-harry-potter/ https://deadline.com/2016/08/comcast-nbcuniversal-deal-warner-bros-jk-rowling-wizarding-world-1201800057/
  14. I wonder what the writing for Hawkeye would have been if they'd been able to get Jensen Ackles for the role. Unfortunately, Ackles, like almost every other young-ish white male actor auditioned for Captain America. Like Sebastian Stan, Ackles didn't get the part. They offered Stan the role of Bucky and Ackles the role of Hawkeye. Ackles refused because he wasn't willing to blow up Supernatural for less than Captain America. I suspect that Hawkeye might have been wildly different if Ackles had said yes. The writing is so bad in Iron Man 2 that it's hard to say that the performance is go
  15. I don't recall that episode, but Trinny and Susannah of the original "What Not to Wear" said that women often get stuck in the style and look of when they felt sexiest and most empowered. I've often found that to be true even with wealthy and/or somewhat famous people. This is definitely true in the case of a number of the Real Housewives. Tinsley Mortimer can't shake the ruffles, bows, and big blonde curls from when she was the socialite princess of Manhattan of the early aughts. Lisa Vanderpump is wedded to her satin pussy bow blouses no matter how dated they look. And Lisa Rinna loves her c
  16. Running it? Because yes, this tiger would have done a vastly better job running that zoo than Joe did.
  17. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/krystieyandoli/ellen-degeneres-today-show-comments#comments My celebrity guests were enjoying themselves so I had no clue it was a toxic workplace. That's the biggest most tone deaf let them eat cake response I've seen in a long time.
  18. It has a very strange layout, which leaves it with shockingly few bedrooms, fairly small closets, bathrooms that take up half the floors, and an unfinished basement. It had 5 bedrooms, but one is the office/library across from the dining room. There's Quincy's floor (a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a separate bathroom that takes up half the floor) and Sonja's floor. The top floor has two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchenette, and washer dryer. Sonja has frequently rented out the top floor. It also makes an ideal nanny or mother-in-law suite, but also leaves the house with 3 bedrooms only 2
  19. Thomas has decided to metaphorically burn Patricia's house to the ground this weekend. He's been posting pictures of her many many many Blackamoor decor items and her Confederate flag themed Christmas tree.
  20. Lord knows Randall's toothbrush sure was. It's an insult to assholes to call Lala an asshole. Assholes are useful. Assholes are necessary. Lala is a hemorrhoid. Useless, unnecessary, painful, and sometimes expensive. That's what I found too. I think it's got to be a pseudonym for Hayes because she and Hayes were off and on for years. Hayes was PISSED when his name came up on the show. I think they just used a pseudonym rather than having to deal with Hayes sending a "Cyst and Decease," sue for defamation, and deal with any injunction from him trying to stop the release of the book
  21. It's Bethenny so there was a lot of screaming and insults. She called Fredrik a liar and a snake who was trying to bleed her dry. It was an unnecessarily nasty way to deal with the conflicts they were having over budget issues.
  22. Trust and believe ALL of this foolishness will make its way into an upcoming season of American Horror Story or one of Ryan Murphy's other upcoming projects. This show is like Mommy Dearest crossed with The Devil Wears Prada crossed with Saw. Like I'm sincerely shocked at how many shots in the show look like they were ripped from a horror movie--the window shots especially. And if Bethenny thinks Ryan Murphy wouldn't do that because they're kind of friendly, she doesn't know him well enough to know that Murphy is happy to lampoon things he cares a lot about and savage things he despises.
  23. I've been watching both shows less than legally for years. From the best of my recollection from reading something online around the time it aired, the couple renting the chateau were renting with the option to buy and the renovations were mostly confined to things that qualified for a French rebate or tax deduction program that covered nearly all of the cost of the renovation. I also feel think I recall them saying that the owner did cover some of the other renovation costs. My memory is a little hazy on this. I can't buy anything from Dick and Angela knowing what wen
  24. Let me translate this out of Sonja bullshit into actual English--the factories in China that make the clothes that she buys shut down for an extended period because of covid quarantine measures. The closures cost a ton of money. Sonja is such a delusional fabulist. She's so deeply ashamed of coming across as less than a blue blood that she makes super strange decisions and says such weird shit.
