They're not talking all over each other while at home. Plus, their voices were way too loud in the studio. At home, their voices are at a normal level.

Last night dinner was shrimp curry & basmati rice. And a glass of Prosecco.

Love that Ina. And that smashed burger sounds good too. I'm ordering her new cookbook, using an Amazon gift card I got back in May. I've got most of her cookbooks but make only a few recipes out of each. But I love to open them and enjoy the beautiful photos & read her comments. I even fold dinner napkins & do same color flower arrangements like Ina. She's the best!!

We attended a lovely, big wedding reception, the cake was put on display in the center of the dining room, and never was cut or served. Instead, we were serv ed pastries (which were good). My theory was the "cake" was fake so that an open bar could be afforded. Maybe the top layer was real and the couple got to enjoy that by themselves. I still prefer the delicious cupcakes we had not too long ago...so much better than a cake & probably a fraction of the cost.

Fettuccini al fredo, baguette baked with anchovies on top, and steamed asparagus. Dessert: we're sharing a big wedge/slice of sprinkle cake.

2020 has not been a banner year.

Me too!! I just can't help it. This reminds me of an episode of the Rhoda show. I can't remember the storyline but Rhoda hits the intercom. Carlton The Doorman comes on, Rhoda tells him something & he responds in his depressed voice, "Avoid disappointment. Aim low". Of course, that cracked me up. But as a professional worrywart, that was good advice!

That was funny cause she said it when an overhead camera showed 3 pots bubbling away on the stove. I bet that sauce was delicious!

Has anyone made Ina's cupcakes with the cream cheese/coconut frosting? When we were discussing wedding cakes, I remembered the last reception we attended where instead of cake, they had tiers of white buttercream frosted cupcakes (vanilla or chocolate). No one missed a cake as we all selected our favorite flavored cupcakes.

Bangers & Mash (Ina's wonderful recipe) and Maine Blueberry Crostata with vanilla ice cream.

I have pest control service come out 3 x a year. No ants, no spider crickets (scary jumping things) and much less silver fish (for some reason we can't quite get totally rid of silver fish).

I'm still disappointed we didn't get to have a family meet-up in Bar Harbor back in June. Fingers crossed that next summer we can do this. And maybe a side trip to the store & music/food area (every time they mention those oysters I go crazy--love oysters!) I don't see this show getting cancelled.

Something called Showbiz Cheatsheet has an article on Jeff Mauro & his adorable son, Lorenzo, doing a cooking show from home. It also mentioned GZ being humanized thanks to viewers seeing him with his family in the kitchen. And the writer noted that Sunny is all alone (hmmm). Makes me wonder if the writer visits this site.

Curried shrimp & rice for supper.

I only had wedding cake with fondant once. It was like chewing gum. Good grief...I've seen beautiful wedding cakes, none of which used that wretched crap. Why do they keep using it? Unless using fondant is the only way they can create those odd-looking cakes (e.g., the top layer is tilted). Sheesh....just think of what that gunk does to one's intestines.

Thanks!! That's good to hear. If anyone tries the skewer through the lemon or lime, let us know how it turns out. These pro's made it look so easy. Maybe it is.

Grilled brats, potato salad, tossed salad, & brownies for dessert.

I'm now a big fan of this new & vastly improved Kitchen. If they revert to the studio in the future, I'll be gone. In the meantime, today's foods looked good. Katie's grilled version of chicken parmesan is healthier. My only concern is the cheese melting onto the grill so I'll have to put the chicken on one of those grates or whatever they're called. Alex again w/ no ring but she had a ring on her right hand. Hmmm.

I'm still marveling over Brandon's & Alexa's one hand/one butt overhead lift. You really notice these things during practice sessions. Female pairs skaters must have nerves of steel.

I laughed when I saw the name of Kasie's show. it was new to me cause I never watch TV at that time. Well, I think the only times I've put the TV on at 5 is if the weather is horrendous & wakes me up. I'll miss seeing her. Kasie will be the first to catch all the tweets.

The first time I ever heard a summer house referred to as a camp was by upstate New Yorkers. We called ours a summer place (on a lake in CT). It must be a regional thing. There's one episode where a couple bought a place and the husband was dumbfounded that his wife kept calling it a camp. I got a kick out of that. It's a great show.

I'm annoyed by the whole *surprise* proposal thing. I know a couple who went to Australia to get engaged. We kept getting updates from the bride to be ("it hasn't happened yet!"). This stupid wedding industry can turn normally sane, nice folks into goofballs, IMO. At least this couple's wedding was calm & lovely.

Ina & Giada don't wear rings while cooking on their shows. I wonder if the Kitchen is now repeating earlier shows (they did on 8/29).

Hope all is well. I've always gotten a kick out of Alex. For years, she'd roll her eyes a lot during the different shows she was on. It always made me laugh. Haven't seen her do that in quite a while.
