He did back in the 1990s, along with those ill-fitting suits. It's not a bad guess, but also the clue is kind of outdated, since he no longer dresses like that and hasn't for years. Also

Whoops, I forgot that. Should have gone for Hugo, then!

Maybe I'm just too involved with celebrity gossip, but what a dumb guess on Jayne's part. For one thing, Elvis is famously an only child, with a twin who died at birth. Lisa Marie's only son died a few years ago by suicide, leaving only granddaughters. All of this came up recently when Lisa Marie died. What possessed her not to go with Shayne? Her exit was one that Dolly could be proud of, though. I like that they're letting the celebrity relative give a video message. It's a nice addition. Although Tom Hanks didn't bother, heh. EDIT: Jayne was also the only one in the right age range to pick Chris' relative, who, according to the clue, was popular in the 70s. Shame!

S02.E02: Don't Get Chummy, You Dummy!
EarlGreyTea replied to peachmangosteen's topic in Claim To Fame
I see Jane as this season's LC, and Chris as this season's Logan, but with less charm from both of them. I think Jane has shown her hand too early and gotten a little too cocky. I think she put a huge target on her own back. She's less of an LC and more of a Dom. I was sad to see Travis go. -
Yeah, if it's true that he is an Osmond, I think he's going to go pretty far in the competition. The Osmonds haven't been relevant for decades. I can see none of the younger competitors figuring him out. He seems to be this season's Pepper with a relative from a bygone era.
-
I think the ideal relative is a cousin or uncle/aunt. If you have too close of a relationship (twin, parent), you have a resemblance that can give you away or been spotted in the media with your famous relative. Preferably, a star from a bygone era a la Pepper and Dean Martin, where the younger contestants are far less likely to have heard of them. Pepper was a weak player, but her rather obscure relative helped get her far. Carly should never have said her relative had an Oscar. That's a relatively smaller pool than, say, an athlete.
-
Did they not say who gave fake names or not? That would go a long way in some cases.
-
Lisa Whelchel? No, this show's premise is that the relative is famous and relevant. 😉

I am going to try very hard and not google or read spoilers! Last year, I knew Laverne Cox's twin brother right off, but I recognize NO ONE this time. The redhead looks insanely familiar, though. The guitar player whose relative is also a musician is a dead ringer for Stephen Coletti from Laguna Beach. I'd have sworn that was his relative, if I didn't know Stephen isn't a musician and is the youngest sibling. It's nice that Carly's blathering on about FAMOUZZZZ her relative was turned out out to be legit. Can't think of a bigger star than Tom Hanks. She is as big of an embarrassment to him as his son, Chet.

Not sure why people are acting like James had no horse in this race. You can make the argument that Lala should have STFU, but James was engaged to Raquel. He has to be wondering what the real timeline was and how far it went back. He acted hilariously childish, but I can imagine that he was secretly broken up about it, Ally or no Ally. I also think it's important to remember that this reunion was filmed only weeks after the affair reveal. Emotions were still raw.

Rarely does a TV episode live up to the hype, but last week's episode ABSOLUTELY lived up to all expectations, and so tonight is appointment television for me.

Did Raquel really try to comfort Ariana about her insecurities by talking about how pretty she (Raquel) is?

I am a new viewer post-Scandoval (I love a good cheating scandal) and went all the way back to watch season 1. Y'all...I'm not sure I can make it through. Is Stassi always going to be an insufferable, smug asshole who takes up most of the camera time? If so, I'm not sure I can make it all the way through 10 seasons. Never saw a reality show villain with fewer redeeming qualities, and this is not even touching the scandal that got her rightfully kicked off the show! Anyone else trying to start at the beginning?

S04.E08: Where Are You Going, Where Have You...

Tati Gabrielle was so great in this episode. I felt her slow, claustrophobic despair. With the direction and camera work, I felt like I was in there with her. I can't imagine the total boredom. It's a wonder she didn't go insane. Not even a book to read! This episode made me feel like I was losing my own mind! -

I hope she's officially divorced at least several times a week now. (I stole that from Reddit, can't take credit!) -
How I Met Your Father - General Discussion
EarlGreyTea replied to BetterButter's topic in How I Met Your Father
Jesse is the most unlikable love interest I've seen in a minute. Such a whiny, entitled, Nice Guy, and his delivery grates. I wish Ian was the regular cast member. I don't want anything nice for Jesse. -
I loved it. I had never seen Olga Kurylenko in anything, but I was so mesmerized by her! A true case of a camera truly loving a person. Why isn't she a bigger star? You can't buy that kind of charisma.

Did anyone else think Sebastian was going to turn out to be Ciaran, Maura's brother? It would make perfect sense - him being in on the simulation, having the red hair, and being the right hand to Maura's father. I love Daniel and Maura, and whomever cast the little boy, Elliot, did a great job. Great little actor, and he looks like he could be their kid. Daniel really works for me as a character. He does desperate longing really well.

I watch with the English (original) with subtitles setting. That’s where it’ll tell you what the actual language being spoken is, I think.
-
Yeah. I highly recommend everyone watch with subtitles. They tell you exactly what language is being spoken, so even if you are nor familiar with Portuguese, or Danish, etc., you can kind of follow along with the characters and get early clues that tell you more about them before it's actually revealed in-universe. I knew from episode one Ling Yi speaking Cantonese, which was a major tipoff as to who she was.

I'm a softy. None of them will be winning American Idol anytime soon, but I was very touched at the family singing "Unwritten." It's such a PERFECT song for a girl about to set out into the real world. If you had no idea of the family dynamics, the whole thing looked like a close-knit family. It was something you'd see in a cutesy coming-of-age movie. The song was popular when I was 18 and setting out, so it was nice seeing it make a comeback. Kody can still go fuck himself, though.
-
I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I felt really grossed out by all those people stuffed into Mykelti's room while she gave birth. Over 24 hours, probably unwashed? Nah. They did all seem very supportive, though. I wonder if Robyn stayed on Zoom the entire time. Did she get up and munch on some chips while she got hungry? I do give her props, because I'd have been insanely bored until the end. I find I like her just fine when she's interacting with the kids.
-
Forget the cheating scandal, address the blackface! That's the bigger issue.
-
I thought it was genius of Christine to graciously invite Kody to help Ysabel move in. That way, he can't complain that she is keeping him from Ysabel, she shows she can be civil, and she gave him several good options that got around his COVID fears. Deliciously brilliant, because now the ball is in his court and he can't blame Christine or anyone else for not accommodating his ass.

I wonder if it's also a small reference to the fact that his wife was a former AI contestant. I remember reading all the salacious headlines when they were running around behind his first wife's back.
