  1. Yeah, same here! I can’t believe I’m rooting for him. 🤣 I try to keep in mind that TPTB tell contestants to ramp up the crazy so maybe he went overboard with it in the past. But he doesn’t bother me here.
  2. Jason’s entry was just about the best I have seen in the many seasons of watching this show! I thought all three entries were better than the usual displays but wow. Jason’s was so well done. The puzzle cookies were cute. I’m sure Danni, the lady judge, is a nice person, but I hope she doesn’t morph into Sunny with her loud screeching. ❤️ Ron dressing up as the merman! 🤣❤️ So adorable!
  3. Just google Halloween Wars season 2 and the episodes pop up with a watch button. This should not be illegal with the mods because one of the free options is Food Network GO when you press the watch button. It’s free!
  4. DVR alert! On Oct 28 beginning at 1 pm central time, Cooking Channel (not FN) will show season 2 in its entirety! Don’t miss this if you want to see true creativity and great execution.
  5. I like Eddie on this show and on The Big Bake, but not Halloween Wars. I’m sure FN has their “talent” under contract to do a certain number of shows but as we’ve all said a million times, these people are getting stale.
  6. Yuck. I’m so sick of Jeff and Aarti. They contribute nothing. But I’m a HolIday Wars slut, so I’ll watch.
  7. I’d like to know this too. I also assume that the big slabs of plain cake that they use to build structures are already provided and that they only have to bake the cake that will be cut and tasted and also the small bite. That was not a well-written sentence but you know what I mean!
  8. I would need one million dollars and a case of good gin to get me through a season of Zak’s show.
  9. Wasn’t that the former baking instructor? I kept wondering why (after she released the sides) she didn’t take a spatula and gently slide under it to release it when she saw she was having problems with it.
  10. The small display area doesn’t lend well to development of a story or interaction between characters. That is one of the many ways that the old version of HW is superior by a mile. I like Eddie on The Big Bake but he and Aarti wear on me on this show. I will never warm up to this format or these judges (except Shinmin) or the ridiculously stupid Zak. He made such a big deal about dolls—I thought the challenge would be to do a scene with deranged dolls. Eh, whatever. I know that Discovery is pimping Zack’s show by having him on here, but I would love to know if anyone who watches HW has been incentivized to watch his show?
  11. Open wound cakes—now THIS is what I expect In a Halloween Baking Championship! Even though she was eliminated, Lola’s toenail cake was spectacular! I don’t care that the toe itself could have been crafted better. That nail was so icky. And Kristi’s (is that the former baking instructor?) gushy wound was perfect. I really enjoyed this episode.
  12. I hate team challenges on all shows—this show, baking shows, Top Chef, Project Runway, etc. Any show where a lone person is deemed the winner should have challenges in which a person competes on his/her own.
  13. Scroll down to see Maricsa’s FB post about her elimination: https://www.facebook.com/Lacasitabakeshop/

  15. You ARE a great daddy to Mo, you silly cabbage! Why do you say you aren’t?
  16. For all you Jay Rayner fans who also watch The Repair Shop: On this week’s episode, Jay’s sister, Amanda, brings in a cherished plate from their parents’ 50th anniversary celebration. Friends and family who attended the party signed a ceramic plate with loving messages. After they passed, Amanda inherited the plate but it was accidentally broken into lots of pieces. The ceramic lady Kirsten did her usual amazing job of putting it back together. I was hoping that Jay would accompany Amanda for the big reveal but he didn’t. Apparently their parents were pretty well-known.

It’s a crime to be that gorgeous. 😍😛
  19. I’m really surprised at how Maricsa bombed in the second round! Her Caesar salad looked terrible in a good way and obviously tasted wonderful but when she started that second round saying she was going to use meringue as her break through element because she thought everyone would use chocolate, I thought why not caramel! I didn’t think it would work and it didn’t. But the treat inside the dome was boring. Sounds like she was first going to do a donut with a filling but then had to pivot and decided on a cream puff. What in the world did she do for 2 hours and 10 minutes? I really thought she would be one of the three finalists. None of the bakers is irritating to me, so I’m enjoying the season. Stephanie as the Moan-a Lisa looked awesome! It looked uncomfortable to wear but the makeup department did an amazing job in making her look like part of the painting. I’m tired of Zak. John is such a perfect host.
  20. I don’t think it’s too wide. Looks to be a good, useful size to me. It looks well crafted. And all that math! We used to gripe to our teacher “I’ll never use this when I’m old!” 🤣
  21. I can assure you that Molly will never grace my TV screen again. Never.
  22. I’m watching season 8 along with you! I felt so bad for Shelby and the sugar/salt mix up! I just love seeing all the familiar faces. I watched all of season 1 recently and season 2 is next on my list. Vinnie who was on Dead Man Walking passed away just a few years after season 2. 😢 I know I sound like a broken record, but it is just mind-boggling that FN decided to change up the format of this previously charming and enjoyable show! Those large displays were such fun and the old set was easier for me see what was going on. And the small scares….those were the days. I DVR the current version and watch it when I have time. The old version was must see TV as it aired.
