Beth was always one of my favorites too and I liked it when she and Froggy used to be on the same team.

I’m so sad. A toilet made out of pumpkin. Tiny displays that have no impact and tell no story. I almost look forward to seeing Tator on Outrageous Pumpkins. I’m watching this show for: 1. fun, creative storytelling with hopefully a bit of gore and/or spookiness 2. large impactful design not tiny table top vignettes 3. tasty bite size treats Some of the carving had elements of interest but nothing was awe inspiring. I can’t believe Shinmin returned this year. Food Network must be paying her decent bucks. AND ZAK SUCKS!

Burn not only Barbara’s dress but Lori’s wig. She has needed a new wig(s) for years, HATED this episode. Burn the episode.

I will eat any piece of bread put in front of me. The day I can’t eat bread, dear Lord , take me home! My last meal: bread, cheese, red wine.

I am not a bread baker but am a lover of savory breads. I wonder if the herring would make the dough too wet? I watch a million baking competitions and a wet dough seems to often be a problem. Is it a dough with yeast?

Looks like next week’s episode is 1 hour! Yay!

Last night’s episode was so enjoyable. I, too, find clowns super creepy but LOL’d when RBI deadpanned “I like clowns.” Then he later put on the clown wig, makeup, glasses and talked to one of the teams! Adorable and hilarious! The right team won but the monkey puppet team had some good elements. I felt sorry for clown car team. The lady judge is just ok but she certainly can’t fill Harry’s shoes.

I agree with what you’ve all said. I’ll add that I also really miss the big Jack-o-lantern and his evil laugh at the beginning of the show. “HA HA HA HA HA!” I checked out Jonathan’s social media and he is really busy doing projects for Hallmark Channel. I don’t have Twitter to ask him a question but I bet he’d find time to do HW if asked. The first year that FN f’ed up this show, his posts sounded as though he really wanted to return as host. The show really needs to return to having a judge alongside Shinmin who is involved in horror entertainment. I know they think Zak provides that, although he’s not a judge, but HE DOES NOT! He adds nothing enjoyable to the show. I am assuaging my disappointment by watching previous seasons, as I mentioned upthread. They’re easy to find. Forgot to add: I’ve heard horrific, terrible things about the Hellfire Club. I don’t recall why it came up in conversation but a friend was talking about it earlier this summer. If even half of what he told me is true—-🤮 Has anyone else ever heard of it?

@tracyscott76, what great observations! Todd was a great judge alongside Shinmin! I also liked Brian Kinney who was on for several seasons before Todd. He had the mustache that curled at the ends.

Halloween Wars friends! Cooking Channel is airing old episodes! I’m now watching season 4 from 2014 when Justin Willman was host. So, so enjoyable! The craftsmanship and judging are amazing. So if you’re a newcomer to HW, please do yourself a favor and watch old episodes…especially episodes with the Bling Bats (season 1) and Dead Man Walking (season 2). I surprised myself at how happy I am to relive these old seasons.

Maricsa’s bakery is open only on Saturdays and Sundays and the menu changes weekly. Here is this weekend’s menu. I’m in trouble.

Maricsa is from Richardson TX. A suburb of Dallas. She’s a James Beard semi-finalist but I’ve not seen her on any competitions.

Well, we knew the day was nigh. 😥 On his IG today, the great Roger Federer announced that the Laver Cup will be his final ATP event—no more Grand Slam or ATP competitions after that. What a sad day in the Spunky household but at 41, he knows that his body just can’t compete against all this new, exciting talent. He will play in various matches so we will get to watch him occasionally. He may not be the GOAT as far as number of GS wins, but he will always be my favorite and I will miss the excitement I felt as one of his matches was about to start. ❤️😢

I thought the camp out cake was also good. Those two ladies were on Halloween and Holiday Wars several times, but not together. Carmel is the queen of cake faces IMO. Her characters have such great expression. Their monster’s arm movement was good too. But the winning team did deserve the win. I really missed Harry. She and RBI are the best baking judges that a FN show has ever had.

OMG! Maricsa’s bakery is 7 minutes from my house! I didn’t know she was on this season! She opened her bakery in early 2020 before COVID. I must say, I’ve been to Paris four times and her croissants are way better than what I’ve had over there. They are heaven. Actually, everything I’ve gotten there is fabulous. Oh, her cruffins! 😍 When she first opened, the line to get in was down the sidewalk and she’d come out with trays of freshly baked sourdough bread bites and other nibbles to sample. She’s so nice. I’m trying to lose some weight so haven’t been over there in a while but I gotta go this weekend! I like all the bakers and John is the best host. Great start to the season.

Set the timer on your phone, my friend! Don’t ruin those lovely veggies! Roasted onion chunks is also yummy. Cut everything to about the same size so they cook evenly. I’ll even roast tomatoes to bring out their flavor. They’re good in a makeshift pasta sauce.

When you get around to testing the oven, try roasting chunks of sweet potato in a little bit of oil and dry seasonings. So good! I usually save some to eat as a side with my eggs the next morning.

The Halloween version begins tonight and RBI is back as a judge! But I don’t see Harry Eastwood listed as a judge. I’ll miss her!
