  1. Mia is so talented vocally but I hear a lot of Zs in her singing tonight. Nearly every word seems to start with Z or end with Z. I know she's Mia Z but that doesn't mean she needs to add Zs to every vowel and consonant. ;-) I hope a vocal coach helps her to get rid of this lazy affectation.
  2. Hah! Blake admitted on twitter that he missed the line. I thought it was him too because he was just enjoying watching Hannah who was singing right before his turn. I appreciated Mia's talent but as I've mentioned before she doesnt connect when she sings. An age issue. So I'm not surprised she's gone. Same with bland Brian. Adam should have saved Tonya who would have a better shot. I thought Deanna sounded terrible in her save song. Really bad and I'm one who loves her voice. So glad Meghan and Hannah were saved! My favorite Hannah! Corey I can take it or leave it. Same with Ron and Koryn.
  3. Deanna sounds like an old school country singer to me. That's why I was surprised by her going with Adam in the blinds. It seems okay at the time but now I think she will be better off on Blake's team. He may be able to make her even more marketable (she's already very marketable now with her unique sound and good looks).
  4. That's the unfortunate thing about Deanna. Last week she sounded flawless but she's pitchy and tentative here. Like she doesn't even want to sing the song. I love her voice but she's lucky she's young and gorgeous with her inconsistency. Both Brian and Joshua bore me. I just don't see star quality with these two. I enjoy Joshua more when I'm just listening to him rather than watching him. He makes weird faces when he sings. That's for Team Adam. Deanna still could win but she needs to buck up. I adore Hannah. Her voice is not one of my favorites but I love watching her on stage and 100% of the time I don't have to worry about her being pitchy ('cause she never is). She's just so solid and entertaining. She won't win but I'll enjoy her as long as I could. It was genius of Blake to give Meghan that song "Girl Crush". The lyrics are interesting and Meghan sang the heck out of it. Last week Blake's song choices for some of his contestants were questionable but I thought he nailed it for all 3 of his contestants this week. Sadly, Corey is the weak link and song choice can't help him if he can't deliver it. That's Team Blake, but Blake just seems to be enjoying it this season, instead of being in competitive mode. I'm not a fan of Rob's vocal styling and I can never take that song seriously on singing competitions. I love love loved Kimberly last week. Like, one of the best performances ever on singing competitions kind of love. She sang well again this week but I had a harder time connecting to her. It's the song choice. And Haley Reinhart did it better, IMO. India was probably my favorite of the three. Well, until she went to touch the audience hands, which took me out of the mood of the song (and that song is all about mood). Overall, team Xtina went down a few notches in my books due to song choices. Mia is such a natural and she's ready to be a popstar. It's all so effortless for her. If she can tap into her vulnerable side, she'll be golden. To me, Sawyer sounds the same every week, but that's not a bad thing because that's his signature sound and it never hurt Phillip Phillips. I still don't get Koryn. She attacks every song in the same manner. It became less impressive each time. Team Pharrell should be fine for now.
  5. I agree regarding the battle but I bet the knock out is all Cody and I'm also not sure what happened to his appealing sound from the blind audition. Nevertheless, I still don't think Cody would have made it far, because he is not ready for this, just like sweet Brooke. Talented but need a bit more time to cook. I have a feeling deep down Blake would be okay with not winning this season. In season 7 interview, he mentioned that even he was a bit tired of himself winning 3 times in a row after season 4 and was okay with Adam and Usher winning the next two seasons.
  6. ITA. She may be the best singer behind Kimberly but she's too young and has no emotional connection to what she's singing. It's all very pretty but nothing much there. I appreciate her talent, though. It just occurred to me that my current top 4 (1 from Xtina, 2 from Blake and 1 from Adam) doesn't have anyone from Team Pharrell and that's probably because his team is so young and I can't really connect to them as artists. They are cute talented kids who should be on America's Got Talent instead.
  7. Overall, I'm satisfied with this top 12. I'd trade Corey for Brooke but oh well. Brooke is good but she needs a few more years and she'll be fantastic. My favorites from the top 12 so far: 1) Kimberly (A great example of strong perfect vocals + emotional connection + performance. Her performance was a masterclass.) 2) Meghan (I also love her style of throwing her entire being into the song) 3) Hannah (Not as developed as the other two but has a great raw talent and she's so endearing) 4) Deanna (Not a fan of her one-expression style of singing but her voice is one in a million and doesn't hurt that she looks like a supermodel.) I would love anyone of these four to take the title. The guys these year are competent but boring singers.
  8. I'm glad Blake saved Hannah over Sarah. I think Hannah is much more unique than Sarah. And at least I don't have to put up with songs like Free Bird as a song choice anymore. I'm sad about Brooke. But I understand why Blake chose Hannah, who is more consistent.
  9. Kimberly was my favourite of the night and possibly the entire competition from both nights. She has powerful vocals but also brought the emotion and conviction of the song. I believed that she felt every word. The song is quite overdone on these singing competitions and I'm quite tired of it, so I went into the performance not wanting to like it but she managed to completely change my opinion. Go Kim! Lexi and India are on the opposite end of the spectrum for me. They did a lot of messy runs and was very dramatic in their songs but there wasn't honesty there imo. Tonya won't win the show but I do enjoy watching her. She's not unique but she's good at what she does. Nathan was horrid. He might be worse than Lowell. Joshua and Brian are both singers but without the X factor. I can take or leave them. I'm calling it: Deanna will win this season. She may not be as good as some of the others but her voice is unique and her arc is going to be one of a girl who had 0 chair turn conquering her self doubt to become victorious. Blake's comments about how superior Christina's team is unnecessary but what surprised me even more is how Adam didn't even make an effort to disagree or shoot him down, which he's usually very quick to do so in other instances.
  10. I actually like Adam well enough on the Voice as a coach. He also seems to have a good sense of humor. But I'm not fond of his personality outside the Voice, especially his interviews. He seems to take himself way too seriously.
  11. I also agree that Christina's team over sings. I like a little bit of runs to enhance the performance and usually for climax of the song. It doesn't make sense to have them throughout the whole damn song. Oh well, just like their coach I guess. I'm not a fan of Christina's over singing too. It jusT becomes noise after a while. I like Kimberly though. She's one of my favorites over all from all the teams.
  12. I kinda like Blake calling the ladies on his team "Sis". I've seen him do this before and it sounds nice and genuine. If we're overusing "bro", we should do it with sis too. I giggled at the different coaching styles Pharrell and Blake have. Pharrell is all about embracing your individuality and otherness and feeling, while Blake is like "You better be on pitch, dammit!". Can't really blame him because the minimum requirement of a singer is being on pitch, imo. That's why I'm never a fan of Adam Levine live. Sometimes he hit the sweet spot but most of the time his pitch is all over the place and it hurts my ears because I'm sensitive about such thing.
  13. How did this little show manage to succeed in making me fall in love all of its main and supporting characters? On any other show, I would be super annoyed at Abe interrupting Henry and Jo but Abe truly has a good reason for his interruption. The mystery that both of them is trying to solve their whole lives! Of course it could not wait for Abe, and I'm sure Henry would feel the same. I think Henry was a bit oblivious about Jo initially. He adores her and has some feelings for her but I don't think he ever thought anything would happen between them and was just glad to see her happy (I love that he wasn't jealous and always encouraged her to try things). It only finally dawned on him when she showed up with that look on her face. Please don't cancel this show!
  14. I don't get why Brooke got such negative reviews compared to the other contestants. I liked the song choice for her and her voice on it. She sounded great with the many textures in her voice, especially her lower register. It's rare for female singers on these kind of shows to have such a strong lower register, so I really appreciated it. She only sounded iffy on the falsetto part. I don't think she was stiff either. I can't believe the other coaches gave Lowell and Corey a pass over Brooke's performance. I'm hoping Blake's soft heart for younger singers comes into play here and he saves her. She has so much potential. It's a matter of taste, but I don't like the way Koryn sings. She does this weird break and vibrato at the same time. My Top 3 of the night (may not be best technically, but what I enjoyed): Brooke Mia Z Meghan All the guys (Lowell, Corey and Sawyer) sucked, imo. Sawyer started out right but went flat towards the end. Lowell was a train-wreck and Corey was cheesy. I'm actually disappointed with Corey the most because I liked him in the other rounds. Caitlin is unfortunately a very forgettable performer. Sarah wasn't much better.
  15. I don't think Adam's team is that weak because he has very diverse singers, which increases his odds. But Blake, he has 3 very similar types of singers on his team (Sarah, Meghan and Hannah) and if the public isn't into what they do, they would fall in one big swoop. Hannah is probably my favorite among the three because I love her kooky stage presence. 2 of Adam's contestants are steals from Blake's team, Brian and Joshua, who were also paired together by Blake during battle rounds. What's up with Adam acting like a kid wanting his parents' attention towards Blake? I mean, he's always been like that but stomping on Blake's chair for no good reason; not once but twice? My mind baffles.
  16. Wow, I've never read a more accurate description of Blake Shelton. It's not the accent. It's a talent. I doubt any of the coaches have detailed strategy. Maybe just a loose one. Because no one can really predict how well someone is going to do during LIVES. I think they just decide on it as it goes along.
  17. Blake's coaching style is interesting. He is very laid back and doesn't really try to coach the contestants besides some generic vocal pointers or pointing out inauthenticity. But he really knows how to package his contestants. Corey's performance was heartfelt enough on its own but he prompted Corey to talk about his grandfather to make the performance even more heartfelt. And he did it in a respectful way. I'm not sure how much of it is planned but it helps the audience connect to the contestant.
  18. I'm not too heartbroken about Sarina going home because her last 2 performances were really bad. Not a few pitch problems bad but she was singing in a different key from the band. My favorite in the competition is Clark but I would have been okay with him going home after his Tracks of My Tears performance too. I don't mind when performers have an off night but so off that 80% of the performance sounds horrid is not acceptable. People I want gone next: Qaasim, Daniel and Rayvon (not a fan of his singing style) Huh. So the guys are weaker than the girls for me. I like all 5 girls for their different styles.
  19. Exactly. Even when Chris was describing why he picked Whitney, the reasons boil down to the fact that he THINKS she would make a great life partner for him. And don't get me wrong, that's super important in building a family together but let's be real, both of them are not at that stage in their relationship yet. So, if the "honeymoon" phase is already so clinical, what's next? It seems Whitney was the one Chris connected in the early parts of the show but perhaps she really did peaked early. Chris doesn't look at Whitney like how he looked at Becca and Jade (with affection). I don't really put that much stock in interpretation physical affection because it's different for everyone, but the eyes really tell a story, imho.
  20. I don't know how I feel about this episode. While it's interesting and the writers have managed to circumvent expectations once again with regards to the plot, I was not very engaged. I think it's the lack of emotional beats. I like Ramse but I don't know how well he works without Cole. I was bored by his baby mama storyline to be honest. It just came out of nowhere and I was not invested in their characters. So I realised that Cole needs to be present for me to enjoy Ramse (or Jones) to the fullest. In a way, Cole is the glue of the show for me. Something was missing from 2015 with Cassie and Aaron as well. It bodes well for the show that the presence of the main character is felt. I can't say the same for every other show. Now my question is, which was the splinter attempt that pulled Cole to 2017?
  21. Even putting current Dean Winters and Josh Duhamel side-by-side, DW still wins it for me. It's just the voice and the whole package. I enjoyed the pilot and I thought the two main characters have good chemistry to carry the show.
  22. I didn't enjoy Josh on Andi's season either. He's kind of a hot head whenever he's being questioned. He was also very self absorbed and made every conversation about him and his past accomplishments. Please no.
  23. I hardly laugh out loud when watching television but I couldn't help myself here. The body language and the stance of the guys were hilarious. And Tyler kept losing his train of thought and couldn't even complete his sentences. Frankly speaking, I don't mind looking at nude blurred out Max because dude is toned as heck.
  24. Wow, I adored this episode. One of my favorites. I liked Henry's interactions with Jo, one of the victims, the killer and Abe. "We gassed ourselves, shaved a corpse..." What a sentence!
  25. I respectfully disagree because I think Riley is super boring, from his looks to his voice to his singing style. He's like those generic singing kids from Disney Channel.
