Aww, thanks for that. I have been rabidly trying not to be spoiled because I understand that the winner has already been spoiled. And if it is someone I hate then I don't think I can continue to watch and I want to watch this. So I have been avoiding any videos, even twitter. But ABC probably won't spoil. So I did watch the a few other deleted scenes and I have to say I am bummed they didn't air the Bollywood dance lesson with Mohit (I learned his name!) and the other guys. It actually shows some of the camaraderie between the guys and not just the rivalry makes the show more fun. I get that the scenes of DeMario being outed or the previews of Lee being villain are probably high drama tv and will cause conversation, but I think they underestimate how scenes of people getting along are just as appealing. And some of the guys are legitimately funny.

** eyes closed, fingers in ears ** La La La La La La ** eyes closed, fingers in ears ** You can't tell me anything bad about Peter. He is my personal dreamboat. He is totally fan fic worthy. He was so quiet because he was devouring Rachel with the power of his eyes!! All the rest of the guys are there are showy distractions for the tv, but he and Rachel have deep conversations outside of camera range. They'll make pretty gap-toothed children!! That is my story and I'm sticking with it!! ** eyes closed, fingers in ears ** La La La La La La ** eyes closed, fingers in ears ** Man, I'll be bummed if he turns out to be a dud.

You know, I can't believe in 4 pages of comments and all the discussion of DiMario that no one has yet put this gem out there: We're falling down on the job here! Because DiMario's lack of understanding of how fishes actually function is about as bad as his "Who's this?" reaction. Also why bring trucks into it?

Ha! I see what you did there...

I smelled set up too, but not quite as complete as Rachel being in on it or having all the details. More like she was warned that someone would be there with some possibly damaging news about one of the guys. I think one of her girls from last week's show had already warned her about DeMario but she said she was trying to be open and keep an open mind. So when the GF rolled up there, I think Rachel was still willing to give DeMario was the benefit of the doubt and was leaning more toward thinking GF was a crackpot and wanting to believe him. But then GF had the receipts and DeMario was NOT helping matters with his ever changing stammering story. When she went into lawyer questioning mode, that is when I think it went from being forewarned to now feeling like she was dealing with a real blindside. So I think her disappointment in the end was genuine. And since she was an avowed skeptic who allowed herself to be persuaded by the whole process, I do think this made some of her skepticism with the guys trickle back in.

I loved her date with Peter. LOVED it. The Bark Festival and Copper! And then them bonding over gap-teeth and therapy!!! I was in love with them. You can tell he is an early favorite he got to meet the "kid" right off the bat. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher were surprisingly funny. First, with the "Does everyone here have a job?" line from Mila and then when Iggy said "You're setting the bar kinda low" she clapped back "Have you seen The Bachelor?" Ha! And then, Ashton's "I am not amused" face when Whaboom did his Whaboom thing. But you can tell the first group date was a complete bust. She was NOT feeling any of those guys. She looked bored. But the DeMario drama made up for it major league. It was great tv! I loved her reaction, first she started to question him like the lawyer she is and then she told him to get the fuck out. LOL. This is way more entertaining that I thought it would be.

LGBT Themes, Stories And Characters On TV
DearEvette replied to maraleia's topic in Everything Else TV
The "Thanksgiving" episode of Master Of None is an account of the character Denise's long coming out process to her family. It is also somewhat autobiographical because the actress who plays Denise wrote the episode. It is hands down my favorite episode of the season. And Here is a nice article about the episode (a little spoilery) but gives a lot of good information about its conception. -
He really is isn't he? I think of all of them I kinda liked him the most. Maybe because of his normalcy? And, well, because he's a total Hubba Hubba! I think he is the best looking of all of them, imo. But I also liked that when she said she didn't like chocolate, without missing a beat he said he'd chuck the box right into the fire. As much as I hate Whaboom, I do have to admit -- obnoxious as it was -- his play-by-play color commentary of Rachel and Peter's couch conversation was kinda funny. Outside of Rachel, I liked how the guys interacted with each other. Minus one or two, they seemed genuinely funny and having a good time with their rivalry. There was the one scene of the guys trying to encourage the Bollywood guy (can't remember his name) to get some alone time with Rachel, but he kept getting blocked. When he finally tried to make his move and got blocked again, one of the guys winced regretfully said something like "ooh, dude, he just cut right in." And after Josiah (after all of his boasting) didn't get the first impression rose, the guys who were in the room with him were fake consoling him, they weren't laughing at him, but they were sincerely insincere in their condolences. It came off as good-natured rather than malicious teasing.

Naw, it was objectively bad. The comparison to the original does flavor some of the criticism. But on its own merits it was bad.

You know, I was so damned relieved that Iris wasn't killed off that I didn't really even process that last scene properly. But you are so correct. Everyone's reaction of Barry being carted of to Speed Force prison was as if they were finally saying goodbye to someone who had been sick for a long time with a terminal illness and they were finally saying good bye with acceptance that it was time. Only Iris was WTF??? Meanwhile Savitar is all, "man, if only I'd waited a bit longer...."

I didn't see the whole thing, but the little I did see it was very clear that Abigail Breslin couldn't dance. Now, Baby wasn't supposed to have gained the dance stature of, say, Penny, but in the original Jennifer Gray's dancing was markedly approved. So that the astonished looks on her family's face when they saw her up on the stage were merited. This was just... not that. Also, Jennifer and Patrick simply smoldered together. Smoldered! Abigail Breslin just looked like she was twelve and it was just bad. I will say one good thing.... Sarah Hyland's smallish bit I saw was nice. Lisa obviously was changed radically. So the question remains, why not just do a whole new movie? it might have been actually funny to have this one done from the POV of a completely different vacationing family who were having their own drama at the same time and we saw the Dirty Dancing stuff on the peripheral.

I had no plans to watch this but decided to watch the big scene at the end. The "nobody puts Baby in a corner" line felt awkwardly delivered. And was she even in a corner? Abigail was so miscast. And there was zero sexual chemistry. Honestly, felt second hand embarrassment for them all.

S04.E21: The Bank Job / S04.E22: Crime & Punishment
DearEvette replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Yeah, that is my take too. I mean B99 is silly. Jake working undercover for the Mafia could be considered scary. But this is B99, there are no serious stakes and the Mafia criminals were B99 level criminals. Again, silly. I have zero concerns about Jake and Rosa in jail. Even if they end up actually going to jail you know their stay is going to be as about serious as their court case was or about as serious as when Jake and Holt were in jail in Florida. No, it was the fact that they left us hanging. I dislike cliff hangers on principle. And I especially hate cliffhangers on shows that might not have come back. -
Can somebody please explain Caitlin to me? How is she just not evil anymore and yet did not take her cure? Did she just take a sip or something and it cured her halfway? C'mon, throw a sistah a bone! Also her powers are so damned convenient. Or rather exhibit # 5,421 that speedsters aren't very speedy when the plot doesn't call for it. I mean, how the heck does her freeze ray have more speed or velocity than Black Flash? Anyway, I am thrilled Iris didn't die and once again she shows that she is a cop's daughter. BTW, does this make her the only person on team Flash who has actually killed someone -- with intent? I don't remember if anybody else has actually killed anyone. Didn't they just capture and imprison? Sad about HR, but it was predicable. Loved seeing E-2 Harry again. I just love Tom Cavanaugh anyhow. I wonder who he will be next season? Also very cool that Gypsy came through. And that last fight scene was rather cool. I hope next season rediscovers its sense of fun.

OMG, Terry's colorful past is giving me life!. I couldn't wait to see they hacked next. I love that he was a model in Japan. "Terry needed the yen!" Ha! -
I am wondering if whatever person is responsible for the chyrons is shading some of these dudes? I did like that the guys who saw him enter with the marching band had to give him his props, though. Ha! You're right. See I am so weirded out by it I subconsciously made it worse.

Rachel is so poised and really socially adept. I like that she was genuinely nice and appreciative to all the guys. I am sad Blake went. Lucas was an obvious producer pick. Manufactured drama. Her face just didn't sell him as her pick. Diggy was cute. Love his outfit. Bryan was smooth, but is he peaking too soon? He's got swagger. I laughed my ass off at the doll segment. He was creepy but I love that the show had a little fun with him acting "jealous". If I were her, I don't know if I could have picked Fred, having disciplined him when he was 3 years old. That would be in the back pf my mind all the time. I wonder if Tickle Monster guy appreciated that that is how he is identified?

I want Maggie to have her own man. Shiny and New! It feels like the show is determined to sabotage her romantic prospects. Why do they find it necessary to saddle her in hopeless triangles? Japril has a big fan-base and it will be Maggie who will get the brunt of their dissatisfaction, not Jackson if they really decide to pursue a romance with them. I really wish they had decided to make them best friends a la Mer and Alex. I am glad they toned down little Erin this week and made her a little more sympathetic. This time around she just seemed like a scared little girl.

CBS is shit when it comes to race. And Les Moonves' tap dancing answer is trash-fire. But damn if that new Star Trek Discovery trailer doesn't look awesome! And it is all Michelle Yeoh and Sonequa Martin-Green.

This Just In: New, Cancelled, Returning, And On-Hiatus Shows News
DearEvette replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
Ok, I take back my previous comment. I just watched some of the ABC trailers and I have to say, The Good Doctor starring Freddie Highmore looks rather good, The Crossing looks gives me a The 4400 crossed with Travelers vibe. The Mayor actually looks charming. And Deception looks like it could be either really cool or really cheesy. -
I agree with many of your points, especially the ones here. I don't know if this is better than season 1 but it is definitely more creatively daring. Which I really appreciate. My favorite eps were New York, I Love You and Thanksgiving. But I really loved the soundless segment and I have a soft spot for Fishs Eddy (the store the episode too place in) because their stuff is perfect when you are looking for kitschy gifts for people. But my favorite part was the impromptu dance party the cab drivers had with the women at the burger joint. It just felt like it would really happen. But I especially agree with you about Dev's parents. I mean, their charm last season was they were so unexpected and limited exposure. There was just too much of them this season. And yes, I missed Brian, Denise, Dev and Arthur just hanging out. Too much time was spent with Francesca. But I did read that Lena Waithe's scheduling was particularly challenging. I wish he hadn't fallen in love with Franscesca. Honestly episode 9 was like a needle scratch on a largely great season. Of all the stuff that was happening, the romance was the weakest part. I absolutely agree that she seemed like an ideal dream girl to him probably because she was unattainable. Maybe if I felt any spark between them I could have felt some of the pathos of the relationship, but I didn't. I just kept feeling bad for Pino. Overall, though I enjoyed this season. It is nice to watch a comedy with a different flavor like this.

Then yeah this does seem like it gets addresses. I mean, he does still fall in love with a white woman -- which imo is the weakest subplot of the whole series and kills the momentum of the series in the last two episodes -- but he gets infatuated with a black British woman with whom he shares an impromptu meal in a very charming episode and there is an episode completely dedicated to nothing a series of dates he has with various women from a dating app he is on. They are all races but I think there are more Indian women, or at least the time we spend most heavily is with the Indian women, they were the most memorable. And Condola Rashad makes a return appearance as one of his dates. We also find out that the great love of his friend's Arthur's life is a WOC whom we meet in the second episode.
