  1. Don't know if this is an UO, but I saw the courtroom scene with Rory yesterday, and was struck by the fact that she got five years probation for pleading guilty. Having a criminal conviction and being on probation can be significant issues in job hunting, yet there was no follow-up to that, and she would have been on probation for the remainder of the series. After the community service, it was like the whole incident never happened, but being on probation would have affected issues of job hunting (even that NYT fellowship) and the logistics of moving out of state -- so going forth to cover a presidential campaign in many states would have taken some negotiation. It would have been a jarring but realistic reminder to see her reporting to a probation officer at some point.
  2. And it is available at Amazon for instant viewing -- they have a 30-day trial period if you want to try it out. I had trouble getting it going -- it kept "hiccupping" every few seconds, but I stopped and started all over again, and it was completely smooth. I think it is one of the best of the "Endeavour" episodes.
  3. I would still expect a MoZ for Robin Williams after the hiatus. It would be so great if they would rerun one of his appearances before then.
  4. Thanks for this link, Stacey. This from the Late Night show Twitter: http://pic.twitter.com/2wPGtOPR5Y
  5. I hope they can rerun at least one of Robin Williams' appearances on Letterman. I always looked forward to his visits. What a terrible shame to lose someone who brought so much joy to so many of us.
  6. What terrible news about someone who brought so much joy to us.
  7. I finally signed up for Amazon Prime to watch this series in high-def from the beginning, and what a delight the very first "Endeavour" episode is. So much nuance that I missed when it first aired (and when I was skeptical that I'd want to watch any kind of precursor!). I had forgotten that he did not drink when it started, and the look on his face while drinking his first pint was wonderful, as was the look on his face in his first time driving a Jag. (Really, police cars could be Jags?) The jumping to wrong conclusions, the unrequited love, so many tics that show up twenty years later are all there. And I was also struck by the number of references to names in "later" Inspector Morse episodes: Jericho, Wolvercote, "Last Bus to Woodstock," and "Last Seen Wearing" all hit me as they were mentioned. I think there were one or two more I am forgetting. I love this first episode even more, now that I have seen the subsequent episodes of "Endeavour".
  8. Thank you! Not enough for a calendar, but enough to show me the police were there!
  9. I always took that as Luke being a little coy with Taylor -- after all, he had not even asked Lorelai to marry him (nor she him!). Why tell Taylor you are planning to have children with Lorelai before telling Lorelai? That's what I understand "or somebody" to mean. Indeed, there seemed to be no lower age cutoff for the Founder's Day Punch! Do we ever see a police officer in Stars Hollow? I can't remember ever seeing one.
  10. Everything from the Huntzberger family dinner onward feels so downhill for me, so now that ABC Family has reached that point in the cycle, I might cycle back to the start of the series when I need a fix. There are some decent episodes in the post-boat-heist seasons, but I can't stand getting pulled into all those Gilmore poolhouse and April episodes.
  11. jamiesamons, maybe "foreshadowing"? I had not noticed those references, but will pay attention when I re-watch! I am hoping some of these are still on pbs.org -- I have not had time for any re-watching, and love the HD quality from the website.
  12. If an actual scientist could create something with a billion-dollar payout, she would be totally welcome to taking a 10% or so piece of the profits. I look at it this way -- the differential (between $250K and $1 million per episode) will either go to Chuck Lorre or to the actors who make the payout possible. Who should be getting that difference? Chuck laughs all the way to the bank either way. We are the ones creating the income by watching on many channels and streaming it! Someone has to rake it in. It is not like the actors are asking the world to print money for them. What they do earns big bucks because we enable them to do so.
  13. I know "Diner" was one of them! I can see Luke cocking his head and looking at the ceiling as he tries to remember. Urine mints! (Just love that scene!)
  14. I agree with those who said that given how much the show makes now, and is making for the producers in future syndication, this is a fair deal. It is not about the amount of time spent learning and then acting those lines each week; but about the franchise that would not exist without them doing it. This is their chance at a major payday; lightning may strike again in a new series, but we see how rare it is to have more than one truly lucrative role. Many major actors get no piece of syndication after the first round of syndication -- I learned this a few years ago. So, perhaps they now will get a piece of this season onward, but it is always the *producers* and creator who make the money in syndication. That is the big advantage of having yourself listed as a producer. Happy to be corrected on the details of all this, but the actors are definitely twigs in the money tree of syndication. ETA: Could not agree more about the disappointing quality of last season; and I happily watch rerun after rerun of the seasons before that. But it is not the fault of the actors! Wish they had taken $950K/episode and insisted on fresh writers with all the money they saved the production!
  15. Charles Abbot Gilmore What did they name the ice cream maker -- gift for the Lorelai/Max wedding?
  16. *Knew this would happen!* (That's not a guess, just an observation!)
  17. It was actually the "final four words" of the finale that ASP said she always had intended to use as the end of the series. And no, she has never revealed what those words are. But given that the producers of "How I Met Your Mother" said they always knew what the ending would be, and how terrible that ending was, I am not sure I want to know the GG "final four".
  18. Mediaite did not understand that the challenge was to be doused, plus to name three more people; so a charity either gets their money or the challenger's money (Rachel in this case).
  19. Is another Gilmore in the scene?
  20. Is a GG in the Scene? Hang in there, Taryn74 -- many of us are here looking for distraction -- thanks for the entertainment, everyone! Hope the little guy/gal is doing better!
  21. Thank you, @PrincessTT -- duh, I should have thought it through! I got to the point that I was letting the show pass through me without leaving any traces behind.
  22. Just watched all three seasons in the past three weeks, and have vertigo from the swift drop of plausibility in Season Three. The gross parts (Quinn/Huck) were *so* gross -- and when you consider that they are competing with rooms specked with squishy bloody brains, that is an accomplishment of the worst kind. Of all the possible nitpicks in finale/3 -- why on earth did the Secret Service, or B316, pass along the information that l'il Jerry III was murdered? So easy to paper over that one and move on. Have to admit that SS agent Tom had guts to place the fatal needle in his fingers. Seems it would be so easy to have an accident.
  23. The big difference between Jason and Floyd is "competition". Jason wanted to compete with and irritate the heck out of his father, and Floyd wanted to ruin his son's career. I think that tells you everything about Floyd's character.
  24. Well, she has to build some bridges for the post-Dave era; I never thought anyone had an exclusive commitment. She probably has at most two visits left to "Late Night".
