  1. Oh, I missed this thread! Okay, as I have caught bits of the GG reruns on ABC Family (thank you!!!), the nitpicks abound! Last week was "Not as Cute as Pushkin," and after Anna is busted by the police, Rory is called and chastised by Headmaster Charleston. Who cuts her short because "very unhappy parents" were descending on his office. If the parents got a call from the New Haven or Yale police force, why are they heading to Chilton to meet the headmaster in the middle of the night? Any parents I know would be on the road to New Haven with legal representation on the phone.
  2. Is a SH townie in this scene with Luke?
  3. Odd challenge: Shepard Smith got doused with water to raise money for the foundation commemorating the NC State women's basketball coach who died of breast cancer; part of the event it to invite the next dousee. He challenged Rachel and two others also to get doused -- for which he would pay $50 each to the fund. Or, Rachel "has to pay" $250 if she does not want to have water dumped on her. Seriously, $50? Worth a *lot* more than that. Curious to see if this gets any more coverage. Classy thing for Rachel would be to make a bigger donation than $250 and skip it. Real high road would be to make a larger donation and still get wet. But why not invite your own network, Shep? http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/tag/shepard-smith
  4. Is the other character a Chilton student? (I figured you forgot, or got busy!)
  5. So glad to see Rachel making a Friday night cocktail -- mint julep tonight (which I would never drink, but I do enjoy watching her measuring and muddling and using a hand-cranked ice shaver). They actually let her run over a minute into the next hour to finish it. "Cheers. Happy weekend. Go to prison." Somehow she connected it to Rand Paul and his statements about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but I could not begin to reconstruct the connections.
  6. Thank you so much for the link! I was going to hunt it down this weekend, as I missed the performance on the show. I'm the only person I know who loves "MacArthur Park," but I really do! Looking forward to hearing this.
  7. That is very cool! You have to actually email to find out the cost of hiring the car, which makes "appearances", not available to tootle around the countryside. It is a 1960 model, so Endeavour bought it used, whenever he got it. Glad it is in the time frame of this early series!
  8. The second series is in 1966, so the next series (heaven willing!) could pick up shortly after the scene in the jail. Gaol. One thing to remember, unfortunately -- whenever you see a date, like 2015 for the next "Inspector Lewis" series, that is the British year for airing, and it might not be on PBS until 2016. Shows get over here sometime in the following twelve months. This second series starting airing in Britain in late March, so we did not have to wait long.
  9. Male or female member of Rory's generation? Was the person ever in a scene with one of the Gilmore grandparents?
  10. I was actually asking about when he bought it -- if he ever said when.
  11. Is the person seen at Yale? Is the person an old friend of Richard?
  12. Seen at the Emily/Richard home?
  13. Did he ever say when he bought the car? I can't recall if it was in the television series.
  14. Thanks very much! I'm new to streaming shows like this, and am really preferring streaming. The quality of this series (in videography) is quite lovely, especially the darkly lit scenes.
  15. I think the video quality on Netflix is great, and appreciate the no-commercial viewings. (I also use Hulu, which has commercials in some things.) I'll probably give Amazon Prime a try, as it has all the Endeavour episodes and all of Inspector Lewis right now, and I'd rather re-watch them in HD, now that I've seen how good this show looks. I've also had several other shows disappear from Netflix, so I need to carpe diem on re-watching Inspector Morse this summer!
  16. This seems to be the best place to ask this: I have "Inspector Morse" available on Netflix, and it looks like both seasons of "Endeavour" and six of "Inspector Lewis" are available on Amazon Prime. Has anyone viewed them there? Are they the quality we hope for (good), and commercial free? I watched part of one "Endeavour" episode that was on Netflix a few weeks ago, and the video quality was wonderful. But it disappeared the next day. PBS has "scenes" but no complete episodes for the past few weeks. So hard to decide how/where to watch (or re-watch) shows.
  17. Holy cow!!! I had not noticed that link, and would have been totally horrified -- well, until about half-way through! Thanks for posting the link for us! (Nice touch about hiring "Dick van Dyke's English-dialect coach," as the moaning about his terrible Cockney accent was revived last year with that Mary Poppins movie. Love, love, love Mr. van Dyke, so no insult intended!)
  18. Yes, it is a good thing -- I think I was being too literal when I read that the will is going to prohibit any new filming of the *episodes* in which John Shaw starred: http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/11101619.Young_Morse_actor_hints_at_end_to_Endeavour_episodes___Video/ Just, more, please, of *something* Morse-related!
  19. I would so watch a young Fred Thursday in the 1930s or war years! And I think the Colin Dexter's will prohibits the re-filming of the episodes in which John Thaw appeared; if so, they could have more episodes in the 1980s with new plots. But there are a LOT of years between 1966 and mid-1980s, so if they want to continue Endeavour beyond a third season, there is plenty of room to grow. There have been many different Sherlocks and Watsons, after all, and many different ways to be excellent in those roles.
  20. It is well known in musical circles that the theme spells out the name "Morse" in Morse Code. The composer Barrington Pheloung has also related that he sometimes spells out the name of the villain in Morse Code in some episodes -- so the dots and dashes can change from episode to episode. I love the theme.
  21. Yes, Jordan Baker, I had the same fears once I saw a little boy and puppies. We never did find out what happened to the puppies, but they were certainly in peril. If they JUST had given us one follow-up sentence from Endeavour to say the "dog man" he contacted had rescued them -- but no follow-up. "Little Pete" (Jakes, who had the breakdown in the pub) did indeed give the name of the arsonist(s), and he was "disappeared" for giving the answer they wanted. One of the characters had said earlier that "Little Pete" was not around long, and no one knew what happened to him. We are meant to assume they hustled him off to some new place after the beating.
