  1. Oh, yes, the Modern Family writer -- you'd think she could have written herself something, uh, *appropriate* for a major awards show?
  2. Well, they did put McConaughey right in front, so it would be hard not to get pulled into his gaze...
  3. JLD does look amazing, for any age. Generous speech, Jim Parsons, "there's no accounting for taste". Love you in the role, but also love "Episodes". Aw, that is a lovely thanks to Jim Parsons' father. I also saw him talk about his father on "Who Do You Think You Are?", also lovely there.
  4. Okay, the street scene is funny. Donations for the Big Bang Theory, heh.
  5. Oh, my I did not realize Hayden P. was expecting! Congrats! Lots on display in that upper part of the gown, but great choice!
  6. Funny that Ricky Gervaise was in a Netflix commercial right after being told he has a face for Netflix. Oy, wait, was that product placement?
  7. Yup. Was that really a speech written by the kids, or him being cute? I could buy that the kids wrote it, although it was about at a ten-year-old level. At least people in the Napa Valley are getting some invigoration from aftershocks. This is really a slow start.
  8. Oh, here you all are! It took a while to find the thread. Agree that Guiliana looks like she needs some R&R. Hope she is well. Just saw Claire Danes' red dress with sheer midriff panels -- she looks beautifully elegant, and so athletically slim!
  9. I also had no idea this was up for a revival. Just hearing the names is music: Demelza, Poldark, even Warleggen! She really was a scrawny, lost creature in the original, and I hope they can capture some of that magic in a new way. I'll have to track down the original and see what I think now; I do not think I have seen a single episode since it was on the air. But it was so memorable -- just seeing the name "Elizabeth" on this page brings her icy perfect beauty to mind!
  10. I do apologize -- I thought "Masterpiece Mystery" had a distinct title, but I see it does not! Here is the link to the 2014 shows, and hurray, "Inspector Lewis" is back soon! http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/programs/features/news/2014-masterpiece-mystery-full-schedule/
  11. It is just "Masterpiece", not "Masterpiece Mystery", although I also would quibble that it is not "Masterpiece"!
  12. The Luke thing I always took to be a running gag -- of course Paris could not be bothered to remember the little people who had no direct impact on her!
  13. I believe it was five episodes in Britain -- they combined the first two this evening. (PBS did the same thing with "Silk" last year, which had been six episodes in Britain, combined into three on PBS.) The cast list linked above lists five episodes for most of the characters. Meh, it's good to know it was not renewed, which will keep me from watching it too closely.
  14. Given that Lane never thought she would get to go to a prom or any dance, I can't believe that she and Rory had been planning on going together at all. And Rory planned to attend the SH prom before Lane knew she would be allowed to attend. It just made no sense. My nitpick!
  15. Speaking of peers in Stars Hollow -- it never fails to bug me that Rory was planning to attend the Stars Hollow High prom instead of the Chilton prom, when she was the class vice-president and involved in the planning of the Chilton prom! As you point out, she had only Lane as a friend in Stars Hollow, so why would she abandon the Chilton prom? At the very least, she could have attended both. Jess SURE did not have friends he wanted to hang with at the Stars Hollow High prom! So, why even bother with that one?
  16. Yes, that scene would have been fine and funny with the reaction shot, but for that remark about makeup. The woman did have a very intentionally severe glare that put Lorelai and Rory in their place, and they could have said something about her being an interior gargoyle instead. There is a big difference between being frightened by someone's expression versus someone's appearance.
  17. I completely agree, and from time to time, they have done a rerun of Rachel and whatever show preceded hers. But others have pointed out that Lock!Up! generates many $$$ for MSNBC, hard as it is for me to understand! There is a 3:00 AM rerun of Rachel's Friday show, although I have noticed it has been pre-empted a few times recently. It can be hard to get home before 7:00 (the end of her show) on Fridays. And for some reason, the podcasts of the Friday show sometimes never appear.
  18. I saw that MSNBC starting rerunning the news shows again in the wee hours of weekdays after a few weeks of Lock!Up!. I hope they keep it up, and that it is not just part of the current news coverage. It is so helpful to be able to catch Rachel on the 1:00 AM slot on the West Coast.
  19. attica, Chris was asked a question about his shirts on Twitter a few days ago, and he tweeted that he had bought three duplicates of the same shirt on his way to the airport to Ferguson, so that is how much thought went into his outfit! Yes, he needed a consult with you!
  20. Lord knows what Shira was originally -- her bleached blond goes with being the C-word. (Cocktail waitress, for those of you who have not memorized that FND episode.) I thought of Mitch as going grey, but maybe that is blond heading to grey? Logan may have frosted tips, but he is probably on the blond side underneath the tips. Honor was blond, as far as we know!
  21. I saw Rachel's amusing and touching farewell to Bill Wolff, Rachel's founding executive editor of the show -- and she did not say where he was going, which made me curious. To "The View", which will, uh, be different. I'm sure it is a lot more money, and according to this article, will give him time for dinner with his children, as Rachel noted: http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/07/showbiz/tv/the-view-rachel-maddow-producer-bill-wolf/
  22. It's all true. Some residents live in a happy town, and some live on the edge of despair and injustice. At the extremes, it is hard to understand that the other town is real.
