  1. The finale isn't May 7. My DVR shows episodes for at least the next two Tuesdays (which is as far as it goes.) And in an interview with Ramon on TVLine, they say there are three episodes left. 10 episodes is short but pretty much every show I watched this season is only producing 10 episodes. A few made it to 13 but the strike shortened everything on broadcast. It sounds strange whenever I hear the real song because I don't hear "throw the dice, stir those grits, get out your church fans...etc."
  2. No. Most series seem to have 10 episodes this season so I'd expect there to be three more episodes left. Me neither. It felt very random. But I expect it's part of a pattern where they get together, and something will tear them apart again. I actually liked the brief bits of Ormewood and Angie out and about before they joined the main story. I don't care about Crystal either but the little bits of humor were a nice respite from the intensity of the hostage situation.
  3. Zendaya isn't the only child actor to have those complicated feelings. I believe Jason Bateman has talked about that as well. He (and his sister) knew that working was supporting their family because his parents' line of work (managing their careers) was so connected to his. And that's often the case because being a parent of a child actor often leads to sacrificing their career for their child's. But what happened with Britney goes deeper than just being a breadwinner. I do think it's a combination of bad parenting, lack of being able to just walk away and genuine mental illness that everything else exacerbated.
  4. Right but this: Makes it seem like they currently have everything from 2024 and 2025 done. That's not what he's saying. He's saying that if they keep filming until the end of the year, by Dec. they could have everything for 2025 done so they still have a lot of filming left before next year would be done. And it makes sense. They usually take some extended breaks where the studio is shut down and filming about 8 months in advance would put them filming August in Dec. They'd need to wait on a renewal before they could film beyond that. I know but in one of her interviews, she said something to the effect of wanting to make sure Cady didn't want to take over the role since she considers it Cady's right now. But since Cady is in NY, it's no more convenient for her to pop into DOOL as it would be for Missy.
  5. I think it's hilarious. That's the challenge. Every chef who signed up for this knew what they were getting going in and that it'd be something they'd have to navigate. They're in the middle. Energy will probably go up closer to the end because they know it's almost over. I like Mika too. I think she's funny and like the food she's putting out. I think his youth prevented him from realizing he was about to take things too far and so he was an annoying gnat/bit of an asshole to his fellow chefs. He has gotten better with age. Not perfect but better. But back then, the people on his season didn't know how to handle him so we got the bullying incident which was awful. Harold handled him much better during the special S1 vs. S2 chefs when he basically told him to stop being a child because everyone there just wanted to cook. That seemed to at least temporarily get through to Marcel.
  6. I think that's a misquote. I bet Vaughn said that if they didn't work until 2025, it wouldn't matter because the year (2024) is complete, and not if they didn't work in 2025 they'd be okay. But I do think Cady's divorce and the fact that she's in NY explains why Missy is back as Jennifer. Going to set isn't as convenient for Cady any longer.
  7. ABC does not ignore streaming. ABC releases the DVR/Hulu numbers lumped together. Ep 3 was the highest rated. Ep 4 was second highest in total viewers. Its streaming performance likely influenced its quick renewal. I think your age reasoning is true for many products but not all. Medications are likely the one thing that do appeal to older viewers which is why you see more of those ads on shows like Blue Bloods.
  8. It depends on which numbers you're looking at. The first three episodes weren't even usual rescue episodes. They were a well-advertised disaster event featuring the show's leads/main couple. Total viewers went up but the demo went down. Conversely, even though the total viewers may have gone down for the next two episodes, the demo went back up.
  9. Yep. The same thing applies to the Super Bowl which is why we get "the big game" unless there's an actual partnership.
  10. I get it maybe in the first episode. But by now? It's so unnecessary. By now, the hours of competition are piling up. The kitchen has been thinned. The fatigue is starting to show on the faces and bodies of at least some of the chefs. You can see production scrambling about to give the impression of constant movement. They have enough to do more showing vs. telling. Especially when some of these chefs are more well-known than others.
  11. Is a victim supposed to care about their stalker's mental illness? I think of all people they should get a free pass on not giving a damn. This woman has had multiple warnings her behavior would cause her trouble, including going to jail, and yet she didn't seem to try to do anything to not be a stalker. She was an effective stalker because she knew how to manipulate him. He developed a rapport with her while she seemed innocent. She validated him. And whenever he tried to pull back, she brought out the waterworks, which made him feel bad for the person he initially liked. Making things complicated and messy is how abusers get away with what they do. The same can be said for his experience with the older comedian. He was so desperate to be taken under the wing of a kingmaker, knowing how important luck can be in the business, that he was willing to make excuses for the guy's motives. And yes, there were definitely unlikable things about Donny but I don't think it means he deserved to be stalked and raped. He did deserve to be dumped and I'm glad for Teri she did that for herself. The mix of everything is why I liked this series. I think it's important to be reminded that "perfect" victims are rare. As a species, we tend to want to identify things a victim did 'wrong' that we would "never" do to soothe ourselves into believing we couldn't be victimized. In reality, abusers like victims who are hard to believe or who they can convince wouldn't be believed. I don't think he sought out a trans woman for privacy. I think he said he changed his name and his profession on the dating site to maintain his privacy. The reality is that he was attracted to trans women but likely felt shame around it in the same way he was feeling shame about his sexuality in general at the time.
  12. I low key loved this episode. You can see the chefs are starting to get punchy and I'm enjoying it. The "make art out of a TV dinner" is such a wacky challenge but it's unlike anything I've ever seen on a cooking championship before, even when it's art focused, that I liked it. I'm a little surprised Marcel won the final challenge, especially after it was called one-note. And salmon isn't purple. Based on the commentary, I thought Carlos or Mika should have won.
  13. I really liked them together and found them very good together. They both gave out adult and experienced vibes and weren't still or overly careful about it, as some Hallmark relationships can be played as a bit stiff, a vestige of Hallmark's romantic rules of the past. I'd love to see them do something else together.
  14. If he's there, I'd expect his presence to leak by setside sources in spoiler places. And, not that I'm one of these people, but if people think it's a bad look for him not to be there, I think it'd be worse for the show to treat it as a big surprise to reveal on a day that's supposed to be focused on Bill.
  15. They didn't even have evidence of homicide, death, or even a crime, for most of the time, he was under investigation. He wasn't under indictment or arrest so he was free to move about the country. I read the agent's boss saying that he could look into the death if he wanted as long as it didn't interfere with his own cases the way I tell people I supervise they can play solitaire as long as they are done with their regular work but have to stay available to the public.
  16. They met his brother so I doubt it's a cover name. The DA should never make a deal like that without discussing it with the victim's family to know their preferences. Or they should have made immunity contingent on actually finding her body based on the information he provided. As for the FBI, the agent's supervisors likely did nothing wrong. The FBI likely didn't have investigative authority to pursue these cases formally. The FBI can't just investigate whatever they want. There are guidelines about what falls into the federal jurisdiction and these murders likely didn't. Each one was under the authority of the state where they took place.
  17. I think it's a combination of construction and chefs. It's not like it's the first time chefs have had to deal with challenging conditions. Cheese isn't some kind of mysterious ingredient either. It's baffling that so many defaulted to croquettes for the challenge with the same speed Chopped contestants default to bread pudding in the dessert round. As for the chaos challenge, even if he mangled the description, production would be there to make sure the rules are clear. It sounds like Kristin still isn't sure of what the challenge was supposed to be and if anyone would know, it'd be her and the judges.
  18. She and Tom Irwin also stole the show Devious Maids for me.
  19. Plus, the first three episodes of the season involved a massive set piece in the cruise ship. I imagine that ate up quite a bit of the budget which is why the rescues in the past two episodes were smaller.
  20. I loved that the Black Friday TV holding ghost was played by the same actress who played Carol in Superstore. A nice bit of stunt casting.
  21. I don't see it that way. Gossip is "I heard this about so and so." The women who testified shared their personal, lived experiences with Weinstein about how he abused them. That kind of testimony is often allowed in court. The original judge and 3 of the 7 upper court judges thought it met the burden. 4 in the upper court felt it did not. So the judges looking at the case were split evenly overall. It just happens that 4 happened to be an upper-court majority.
  22. I finally saw Falling in Love in Niagra, and the scenery and stars helped elevate the movie beyond the many nitpicks I had. First, I like Dan Jeannote, and I absolutely love Jocelyn Hudon. I've seen three Hallmark movies where she's the lead, and I found myself more invested than I usually am for each one. And it's the only thing I've seen her in so it's not like I came pre-liking her. But there were some things that left me scratching my head. I think the fiance seemed like two different people. In the beginning, I felt like he had every right to call off the wedding. 5 weeks before the wedding isn't ideal, but it's better than just right before the wedding or sadly, after the wedding. But she went to his house, took his laundry and threw away his clothes. And she seemed to move forward with everything she wanted for the honeymoon without consulting him. The villain POV she and her sister had for him felt unwarranted. Then, when she first meets the lead, she throws money into his coffee and spills all over him and acts like he's unreasonable for not simply accepting "I had good intentions." She made a mistake. Don't most people, even when they have good intentions, apologize when good intentions go so wrong? So I was on his side until he completely messed up his job by showing up late and not correctly scheduling a simple tour? Luckily, they both got better after the first 30 minutes. Then the fiance comes back with a complete character change. Now he's being written like the villain they claimed he was earlier in the episode even though the actions we initially saw didn't back that up. The thing that cracked me up the most about him is that he said he wanted to try again and "get married in the fall." Not by the falls but in the fall. The only thing is, the colors on the leaves indicate that this movie is taking place in the fall. So is he talking about next fall? I also wish the sister would have started a relationship with the tour company owner instead of the brother.
  23. They took a risk, but it's not like the court was unanimous in its decision about whether or not it was a reversible error. It was 4-3.
  24. Sure, but he is the father. I guess she could be lying about him choosing to not even attempt to get visitation but I can't think of a situation where the child should pay the price for a poor relationship between the parents.
  25. I think this is a great idea. Introduce the dumplings and two main ingredients but not tell them there's going to be a culinary difference and hope everyone eats a different dumpling. It'd all fall apart if everyone accidentally eats the same dumpling. I know you don't care but since it's coming up a lot, he was hired as a chef consultant on The Bear, which is a very popular Hulu show about the workings of a restaurant. He then got asked to appear on camera but he didn't want to play a chef so he plays a cousin or a friend or something like that. If people haven't seen The Bear, it's a very intense show when it depicts the inner workings of a kitchen. There's a lot of screaming, yelling, activity, and, yes...chaos. That's why I don't think he was a replacement for someone else. It's pretty clear the challenge was created to thematically align with the tone of the show he's on. I don't understand some of the challenges they've had. I've seen some people blame the Wisconsin tourism board but I don't think that's it. There's no reason they couldn't have come up with a decent challenge for the chefs to serve at Taliesen which was absolutely a unique dining experience. And The Bear is filmed in Chicago so the chaos theme has nothing to do with location. Other challenges, like using cheese, cherries, and beer, should be no-brainers. They're as simple and straightforward as it gets on Top Chef and there's no reason for the lack of creativity. One thing I did like about this challenge is that, instead of shopping at Whole Foods, they had the choice to go to the Asian market or Latin market. I'd like more of that and things like shopping at the Farmer's market.
