  1. I added The Complete Series DVD set of CBS’ recently-ended Hawaii Five-0 reboot to my collection. This despite the fact I already have the whole series on individual season DVDs, & because of the fact it includes an entire disc (the last disc) of extra feature material that isn’t on the individual 10 season DVD releases.
  2. In the spirit of the season, because of the recent passing of KT Oslin (I liked her too), I give you a song most, if not all, of you have probably never heard before: Her VERY playful duet version of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” with Barry Manilow (don’t judge without listening to it first, please & thank you). It’s from his first Christmas album (he’s done 3, not counting a compilation of songs from all 3 albums released by his former record label), Because It’s Christmas (Arista Records, 1990). If you like KT’s music & haven’t heard it before, I ask you to give it a listen & not bypass this post. Even if you don’t like KT’s duet partner, you might like the song.
  3. At least when he was played by Rob Lowe, I think in the previous version (or a previous version), the character was played by an actor with a real life partial hearing impairment; Rob lost the hearing in his right ear when he was a few months old.
  4. Regarding the bolded: Candace Cameron Bure actually stars in a Hallmark mystery movie franchise about a character named Aurora Teegarden, not their romance movies. At least she’s not in the romance movies as a rule, though she may have also done a few of those.
  5. ION Television Picks Up NCIS: New Orleans and Hawaii Five-0 This is “our” H50, not the Jack Lord OG version. It’s also just the 10 seasons which were already filmed & aired on CBS; NO new episodes. The linked press release doesn’t say when it will/might start airing on ION, just that, in October, the channel acquired the rights to air both H50 & NCIS: New Orleans (also repeats only). According to a video clip posted to Facebook by either a Hawaii Five-0 fan page or by CBS’ official page (which is still active), Ian Anthony Dale has joined the cast of the CBS legal drama All Rise. Apparently he plays an Assistant District Attorney on the show. I think the show airs on CBS, not as a CBS All Access Original, but I’m not positive. I haven’t been watching it, but I know this is at least its second season. Has anybody bought the Complete Series DVDs & seen the new feature content exclusive to this set (NOT on the individual season DVDs) on the last disc? I haven’t been able to watch it yet. The set includes this NEW material, PLUS the bonus material already released with the individual season DVD releases. Also, does anybody know how to contact the company which released/published the set? I need to get a new plastic part (the part which holds the DVDs) for at least the first half of the set, if not the whole series (they packaged the DVDs in 2 “books” in a big slipcase; seasons 1-4 are in the first “book” & seasons 5-10, plus an exclusive disc of DVD extras on this set ONLY, are in the second “book”). The plastic part in at least the season 1-4 package of my copy was broken at 1 outer corner when I opened it (the DVDs appear to be OK).
  6. Multiple reports yesterday stated The Kelly Clarkson Show has been renewed through 2023 (aka for 3 more seasons). I doubt it’s because she’ll need the money after the divorce goes through. If anyone will need money afterwards, it will probably be her soon-to-be ex (& maybe his family). This isn’t the only “surprise” divorce in the Blackstock family either; a few years back, after they’d supposedly been happily married for over 25 years, Kelly’s soon-to-be former father-in-law (& manager), Narvel Blackstock, surprised his then-wife, country music superstar & actress Reba McEntire, requesting a divorce she wanted NO part of but went through with because he wanted it. After the divorce, he allegedly got into a relationship with a friend of Reba’s.
  7. Speaking of the “Mega” episode... Some of you might remember that, quite awhile ago, I posted a question/got into a brief discussion about something I didn’t understand (at the time) about the episode with posters either here or on 1 of the previous boards to this. I wondered how Annette O’Toole’s character could’ve pleaded out & gotten 6 life sentences (meaning she should’ve been jailed, like her husband) for her part in the helicopter crash that was the basis for the central case in the show, but still been free to have that (near)-ending discussion with Abbie & Jack about how she did what she did & managed to stay free at what appeared to be her home. I finally have the answer; I paid VERY close attention to the ending last night (more than I apparently was before). Basically, I got Annette O’Toole’s character confused with the other major female guest character. It was the Maggie Callister character who got the 6 life sentences; not Annette O’Toole’s character. Annette O’Toole’s character apparently got off free as a bird. The Maggie Callister character was married to 1 of the guys who died in the helicopter. She & her husband were followers of the “increase your financial wealth” sort of cult run by Annette O’Toole’s & Michael McKean’s characters. Maggie Callister gave her husband 1 of those nice “accessory” boxes men put their stuff in, as he was leaving on a trip; only Michael McKean’s character had put dynamite in it because Maggie Callister’s husband was planning to leave the “financial cult” (I think) & take all his money back with him, which Michael McKean’s character couldn’t let happen & Mrs. Callister apparently didn’t want to happen. So he killed Mr. Callister & the others on the helicopter were “collateral damage”.
  8. Didn’t they mention the “intervention” letter Tony Hsieh got from the multitalented, but mostly singer, Jewel? I’d say that had attribution with it.
  9. From GMA (Good Morning America): Another Report on the Untimely Death of Zappos Founder Tony Hsieh (VIDEO). It talks about how his behavior had changed, & how his friends noticed but couldn’t reach him about the changes (as in, they couldn’t make him see what they saw). He was apparently into drugs (I think the report mentioned mushrooms, but I might be wrong) & depriving his body of food, drink, & oxygen. Kind of fascinating report, but also kind of “What happened that made you start doing those things which would eventually prove harmful to anyone?” too.
  10. And it moves EXCLUSIVELY to HBO Max (but I don’t know when it starts there; just that it was announced in October, 2019, that it would be on HBO Max after the deal with Netflix expired). So hopefully some kept their free trials from the “Hartsfield’s Landing” dramatic staged presentation. Otherwise you’ll have to sign up again to keep watching the show on streaming/somewhere besides your DVDs.
  11. From Deadline: Character Actor Warren Berlinger Dies at 83 Cause of death not announced.
  12. Regarding the bolded: I went to Vegas more than once every year between 1992 & 2010, for Manilow concerts & fan club-related functions at various venues in town. There is a statue of Elvis in the lobby of The Westgate, formerly known under other names such as The International & The Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Road (Off-Strip). I think the statue commemorates something like how many consecutive sellout shows Elvis performed in Vegas during his heyday. It may also have formerly been outside the front of the hotel... I forget. There are also replicas of the Eiffel Tower & Arc d’Triomphe at the Paris Las Vegas resort/casino on The Strip.
  13. A report from this morning’s (Tuesday’s) GMA (Good Morning America) on the perhaps rather mysterious death of Zappos’ Founder, Tony Hsieh. (VIDEO)
  14. I can see that (especially these days for real). By the way, yesterday was actually Monday; today’s Tuesday. I fixed it in my original post but it’s still wrong in your quote. Just saying; it doesn’t matter if you fix that or not.
  15. Last night, whichever network has the Monday evening repeats aired “The Family Hour” again (The divorced wife of a former US Senator & Presidential Candidate was a murder.victim—the Politico’s the very prominent head of a massively dysfunctional family; he was played by Harry Hamlin [with dark hair]. At the end, after having the trial adjudicated by a totally bizarro Judge who apparently had never judged in Criminal Court, Judge Dilwyn (Jeffrey Tambor), Hamlin’s character was found guilty of murdering his daughter, who was also discovered to have killed the original murder victim, who was her stepmother. The courtroom broke out into chaos, & among other things Hamlin’s character started screaming he was gonna get Judge Dilwyn for his conviction. How could he hold Dilwyn responsible? He was the Judge; he wasn’t on the Jury. About all he had to do was listen to the evidence, render stuff overruled or sustained, then read the verdict as rendered by the Jury.
  16. From People: West Wing Actor Richard Schiff Warns ‘You Don’t Want This’ After COVID-19 Hospitalization He was also on MSNBC’s The Last Word, which is hosted by former TWW Writer/Producer/Executive Producer (& cameo actor, in S2’s “Two Cathedrals”, as Jed’s father) Lawrence O’Donnell, talking about his experience with the virus & the Canadian healthcare system (it appears he & actress wife Sheila Kelley contracted the virus while filming their current roles—as a married couple—in Vancouver, on ABC’s The Good Doctor, on which former Lost & Hawaii Five-0 co-star Daniel Dae Kim is now an Executive Producer). Richard was hospitalized in a Vancouver hospital. This appearance was apparently on Wednesday’s episode. The “meat” of the interview (without the intro & outro) is embedded from YouTube on the page. I think it’s interesting both Richard & his wife have their current credits in The Good Doctor, but she’s credited as having been on/in L.A. Law & he’s credited with The West Wing. I guess, technically, TWW is his most recent acting credit again though, because of the dramatic staging of “Hartsfield’s Landing” airing/aired on HBO Max.
  17. Regarding the bolded: I read yesterday, in multiple sources, Tony Hsieh was only 46 when he died—which makes his loss sadder still.
  18. From USA Today: David Dinkins, New York City’s First and Only African-American Mayor, Dies at 93
  19. Looks like Pluie, or Pluie’s supporters finally got his/her/their wish!
  20. Simon Cowell didn’t (as far as anyone here knows) donate to the arguably tragic MasterChef Junior participant’s GoFundMe. It was British Chef Gordon Ramsay, who’s the face of a number of food/cooking-related shows airing on Fox in the US, including MasterChef & MasterChef Junior.
  21. Try this link. The embedded 1 & this 1 both work for me. If neither works just go search it at YouTube. I searched Ben from MasterChef Junior.
  22. As at least most of us probably could’ve figured, Chef Gordon Ramsay isn’t really the total butthole he appears to be on (at least) his cooking shows involving adults. From Variety: Gordon Ramsay Donated $50,000 to Late ‘MasterChef Junior’ Star Ben Watkins’ Cancer Treatment The video from Ramsay & Watkins’ fellow contestants on his MasterChef Junior season which is mentioned in the article is also embedded therein. Besides Ramsay, the other 2 adults in the video are pastry chef Christina Tozzi & Mexican-influenced chef, & former Food Network programming staple, Aaron Sanchez; they’re Ramsay’s fellow Judges on the show, for those who haven’t seen it. I used to watch more regularly; I need to catch up/start watching more regularly again.
  23. John O’Hurley actually has been among the Family Feud hosts, for multiple seasons, since they’ve brought it back & I thought he did a good job with that. I think he could be just as good as Alex here. And if they get him & he isn’t, then they can drop his option after this coming season & get another host—like, hopefully, Tom Bergeron if DWTS doesn’t decide to kick Tyra out on her butt & beg at least Tom to come back next season.
  24. From Exclaim! (Canada): Canada’s Parliament Hill’s Bell Tower Played the Jeopardy! Theme to Honor Alex Trebek Parliament Hill is in Ottawa, Canada; it’s home to Canada’s federal government. Though he eventually became a naturalized US citizen, Alex Trebek was Canadian by birth. You can hear the bell tower in the linked video, but some parts aren’t as clear as others.
  25. Did anybody see that I Found the Gown show on TLC? It’s running as I watch early this morning (Saturday), but I guess it was also on Friday night beforehand? It appears to be the lower rent sibling to the SYTTD shows, taking place in a Boston area discount bridal shop where it seems they mostly sell discontinued gown lines. Wikipedia says they only did, like, 3 seasons & are no longer in production.
