  1. As it said in the article, they were estranged & he had apparently filed for divorce. So I don’t think it’s that surprising.
  2. The last episode/clip show TV movie was on COZI-TV last night, where Johnny, Roy & others (including the PITA Craig Bryce being played by an African-American actor—I wonder if James G. Richardson had died by the time they filmed this movie?) were promoted to Captain. I know the promotion ceremony being strictly for the firefighters was a function of the storyline, which was mainly about Johnny & Roy reminiscing afterwards about how they met & a lot of the serious, average & weird things they got into during their time as partnered paramedics, but now it’s starting to bug me that Roy’s wife, Joanne, & their kids weren’t at the ceremony, like most families would be, even though nobody else’s families were there. I also hope things might’ve changed, even though it wasn’t mentioned, so that Johnny & Roy could still at least keep up their paramedic certifications offscreen once they became captains. Though I guess they could since 1 ep had Johnny doing extra duty at a station where the captain (“Stoney”) had been a paramedic before becoming a captain. Johnny asked him if he still kept the certification up, he said he did & had the patch on his uniform sleeve to prove it. This ep, in my opinion, may contradict the 1 where Roy ranks highly enough on a test to be promoted to engineer (driver of the fire engine) within a year, but if he takes the promotion, it’s said he can’t be a paramedic any longer. Maybe Roy can’t be a working paramedic anymore, but why not at least be able to keep his paramedic certification valid like Johnny’s friend the captain who was able to be a captain & keep his paramedic certification valid? Last comment: The show’s title had an exclamation point at the end which is missing from the thread title. Can it be added please?
  3. Jack & Abbie did the same thing, I thought, in the episode “Panic” (the 1 where the lesbian [Bisexual?] novelist’s manager was accidentally shot & killed while walking down a NYC street with her & it was apparently because of jealousy over an affair the novelist—the real target— was having with either the husband or wife of a married FBI agent couple who were technical advisors for her novels). After finding out the wife was the novelist’s paramour & the husband was actually the spurned romantic partner of both women, instead of the paramour & having the spurned husband suddenly plead guilty to the shooting, which ended up being because Jack & Abbie began suspecting the married couple’s daughter of being the shooter though she was supposed to be babysitting for a neighbor’s baby at the time & had said she never left the apartment. Turns out she did it & her father took the 20 or 25-to life rap to keep her from having to go to juvenile or adult jail.
  4. He hosts The Bachelor & The Bachelorette & other shows that are part of that franchise. He’s also hosted the Miss America competition a few times & was the final host of the syndicated, non-Primetime, non-Jimmy Kimmel version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, which was canceled at the end of last season after something like 20 seasons on the air, with various hosts through the years (but I’m not sure they included the late Regis Philbin, who debuted the program as host in Primetime, & they definitely didn’t include the current Primetime host, Jimmy Kimmel).

  6. Two kids now, actually. Last month, he announced, on The Ellen Degeneres Show, that he & his wife, Jessica Biel, had welcomed a second child & second son, Phineas. Which Ellen knew about during the pregnancy because she & Justin were FaceTiming 1 time; Jessica walked into the view of the camera/FaceTime device & either she or Justin put their hand on her belly so Ellen could see & Justin told her they were expecting again. I think the Biel/Timberlake sons’ names are rather old-fashioned, though I understand the eldest, Silas, is carrying on the family (sort of) tradition of his middle name being the same as Justin & Justin’s father (Silas’ paternal grandfather)—it’s Randall, which Justin’s father goes by. His first name, Silas, is also for a male relative of Justin’s. It honors Justin’s paternal grandfather/Silas’ paternal great-grandfather, who Justin was very close to & who died before Justin & Jessica’s wedding. The names may be old-fashioned sounding, but at least they’re not “typical” Hollywood kid names, like Dweezil or Pilot Inspektor. You’ve gotta give the Biel Timberlakes that.
  7. From Deadline: Alex Trebek Wardrobe Donated to Homeless Organization for Job Interviews It was apparently his wardrobe worn on Jeopardy!. If just this idea makes you happy/feel something good, don’t read any further (than the article); I started reading the comments (still learning to read articles without the reader comments) &, of course, there had to be a few idiots spouting negativity over what was done with the wardrobe vs. what they thought should’ve been done with it (at least nobody expected him to take the wardrobe with him).
  8. This is a few (about 3) days old, but I’m posting it anyway. From People: Engelbert Humperdinck’s Wife Patricia Healey Dies After Battling Alzheimer’s and COVID-19 He announced that both he & his wife tested positive for the virus just 2 days before her death, apparently. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2007 (I think that’s mentioned in this article I linked).
  9. According to this Wikipedia page, Larry Flynt’s cause of death was heart failure.
  10. With respect, Christopher Plummer actually won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor (in 2012, for Beginners), though he is still the oldest male Oscar winner in either the Best Actor in a Leading Role or the Best Supporting Actor category. He won at the age of 82 years, 75 days.
  11. I meant to post this a lot earlier & forgot: For those who haven’t seen it & wish to, here’s the last interview Cicely Tyson did, on Kelly Ripa & Ryan Seacrest’s talk show. It was taped on Wednesday that week (with Ms. Tyson, obviously a virus risk group member due to age, appearing remotely, apparently from home, & the hosts referring to her as “Ms. Tyson”), she passed by early Thursday, & the interview aired in their Friday show that week. It runs about 11 or 12 minutes, I think, & may or may not include commercials. I used a link posted to Facebook. If it doesn’t work, let me know & I’ll try to find a better 1.
  12. From The Hollywood Reporter (THR) about Armie Hammer being dropped by William Morris Endeavor (his agency) I have to go back & find the link, but I think I read something, a few days ago, about Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas, the Transformers movies, ex-husband of former[?] Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, with whom he shares a son, Axl Jack) replacing Armie as the lead in a movie. If I find that link, I’ll post. FOUND IT! It wasn’t the original article I found, but it does say Josh Duhamel is replacing Armie Hammer in a film, Shotgun Wedding, co-starring Jennifer Lopez & filming in Costa Rica for 4 months. Towards the end of the article, there’s at least part of the old article from when Josh Duhamel’s still only being considered for the role & Armie Hammer is quoted, as well as a production spokesperson:
  13. I guess my point was Tony Bennett being a professional singer for as long as he has been, because singers have to commit lyrics to memory (which gives their brains a workout), is perhaps what apparently kept the general public from learning he had Alzheimer’s for the past 4-5 years, since his original diagnosis back in 2016 (as was said in the article/article excerpts quoted in the media reports). If he’d been in any other line of work where his brain wasn’t as integral a part of the work, & still been trying to perhaps hide the illness, for whatever reason(s), it might’ve been discovered by the public before he & his family were able to make the announcement of the diagnosis on their own terms. Then again, the media reports said he was “enduring increasingly rarer moments of clarity and awareness”, though continuing to sing; so perhaps he & his family made the announcement now because it might be getting to the point where he has to retire from performing publicly.
  14. They say doing things like memorizing song lyrics or playing certain types of word games, for at least 10 minutes a day, can help with keeping the effects of dementia type illnesses at bay.
  15. Regarding the bolded: Hal Holbrook’s last acting role, according to IMDb, was his appearance in a 2017 episode of the Hawaii Five-0 reboot. His character died before the opening credits & was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor, who knew & served in the Navy with Steve’s paternal grandfather Steven, who was a victim of the attack. Mr. Holbrook’s hair was so “poufy” in his scene, I remember many fans commenting it looked more like a female hairstyle than a male hairstyle.
  16. Regarding Larry King: When he originally started at CNN, I thought he was at the top of his game & couldn’t wait to see him interview my favorite celebrities &/or discuss topics I was interested in. Then, as he aged, & his cardiac health worsened (I had always heard he’d had issues with, & supposedly procedures for, not being able to get enough oxygen to his brain because of his cardiac issues), I thought other interviewers were much better & his interviews showed it. It was said upthread that he didn’t like to prepare; as he aged, whether or not it had to do with his health, I thought it showed & his interviews were just “run of the mill”. You never really left enlightened on his topic anymore. I also never understood why he would bring up the topic of homosexuality/bisexuality on his show, if it wasn’t newsworthy (& many times when it was newsworthy, for some reason). Anytime I watched him discuss it, it seemed no matter how many times a guest explained the concept, he never really understood why/how 2 men or 2 women could fall in love with each other in the same way that a man & woman (or vice-versa) could fall in love with each other, or how someone could fall in love with men or women equally. He looked like he was processing their answer, & he still didn’t understand it; even if they used the “Explain it to me like I’m in Kindergarten” concept, like was asked in the movie Philadelphia. My only theory is that maybe the idea of homosexuality/bisexuality was so alien to him because he’d been married (to the opposite sex) 7 or 8 times by the time he passed.
  17. Regarding the bolded, & apologizing for probably repeating myself, because I know I have said this somewhere upthread before, but it’s true: The problem with original material is, eventually enough of the audience doesn’t like it enough to say, “This show’s crap! I wish they’d bring back this show, or that show”. Then that’s what the networks do, & the audience then says, “I hated this show when it was on 5 years ago & I don’t like it any better now; doesn’t somebody have a new idea for a TV show?” And the thing about that is, there isn’t an infinite number of ideas, or people’s life stories, on which you can base creative media, such as TV shows, movies, or books. You’re damned if you do, & damned if you don’t. It’s a Catch-22.
  18. I forgot, since it was to air today/Friday, the whole episode was pre-taped. Instead of the opening credits it began with an introduction by Kelly Ripa, dressed in black, talking something about how “they” got the news overnight that Cicely Tyson had died yesterday/overnight & she was 1 of the guests on today’s show, which was actually taped on Wednesday. Kelly said they were fortunate to be her last interview.
  19. At least if it’s pre-taped, they can still air the appearance with the super-obvious explanation it was recorded before Ms. Tyson’s now-untimely death (what with her autobiography/memoir being released the same week as/the week before). But yeah, the existence of pre-recorded video interviews for promoting the book, while very helpful in most ways are probably now at least a bit awkward, in some respects (“coming back from the grave”, & all that).
  20. I thought that was probably the ep she was in. I would bet she was also in the OG Jack Lord version at least once, as well, but I can’t remember a specific ep like with the more recent reboot.
  21. From The Hollywood Reporter (THR): Sonny Fox, TV Host Who Connected with Kids on ‘Wonderama’, Dies at 95 Among the other things he did after leaving Wonderama was, he served as the initial producer of the late Tom Snyder’s Tomorrow show on NBC. He died of COVID-19-related pneumonia.
  22. Regarding the bolded: Wasn’t Cloris Leachman in the ep directed by Daniel Dae Kim? The 1 where McDanno’s on a stakeout in an apartment building & there’s a cat named Mrs. Pickles involved, & Jerry helps her character feel a bit less lonely, thanks to a fern or other type of plant?
  23. I do... but never flew them. They eventually became part of what is the current American Airlines, thanks to their merger with USAirways. Mohawk merged with what was still Allegheny Airlines, in the early to mid-70’s (I’m pretty sure). The Allegheny name was kept from that joining. At some point after the merger, Allegheny became USAir &, finally, USAirways, successively, after merging with other airlines including Piedmont & Pacific Southwest Airlines (better known as PSA)—those names were given to airlines operating commuter services for USAir & USAirways prior to the merger with American.
  24. #4: Rex Smith? He only had 1 hit that I know of, “You Take My Breath Away” (not to be confused with the Berlin hit from Top Gun).
