  1. From ESPN: Chicago Bears Hall of Fame Running Back Gale Sayers Dies at Age 77 He had been living with dementia in recent years. His friendship with fellow Bears player Brian Piccolo, whose football career & life were cut short by a terminal form of cancer, was depicted in Sayers’ autobiography, I Am Third & in 2 versions of the TV movie Brian’s Song—the 1971 classic original, starring Billy Dee Williams & James Caan as Sayers & Piccolo; & a lesser-known/remembered 2001 remake, starring Mekhi Phifer (ER) & Sean Maher as Sayers & Piccolo.
  2. From The Hollywood Reporter (THR): ‘Supergirl’ to End with Season 6 on the CW
  3. Bad Education, a TV movie in which Allison Janney appears (with blonde hair) won the Emmy in the category of Outstanding Television Movie at this year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards presentation last night. The movie aired on HBO, according to the article. Bradley Whitford is a nominee again this year in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category, for his role in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, which (ironically) stars fellow Emmy winner, & TWW co-star (she, of course, played youngest Bartlet daughter, Zoey) Elisabeth Moss. Bradley’s category will be awarded during the Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, on ABC tonight beginning at 8PM Eastern/7PM Central. If you miss the category by the time you read this, the winners list is well-publicized in the media & it’s on the Television Academy website, Emmys.com, so you can see if Bradley won. If he should win, & you miss the presentation of his category, his acceptance speech should show up on YouTube at some point in the next few days, if it’s not also on the Television Academy’s website.
  4. Watching the Atlanta version, the ep with the bride who had her heart set on a, like, 5-year-old gown Lori’s shop no longer carried & Maddie from the country music duo Maddie & Tae picking out bridesmaids’ dresses. I have 1 question: What the heck kinda spelling for a name (besides a bad 1, in my opinion) is BRIEAWNA (she was a new consultant, I think working with the bride looking for the 5-year-old gown)?
  5. I was just coming to post about Justice Ginsburg. I just got a notification on my iPhone about her passing from NBC News. It’s on all the cable news networks, by the way. I was watching NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt; the commercial networks haven’t broken in yet, that I know of. I doubt we’ll get a woman to replace her; that saddens me.
  6. I would’ve sworn it was as I said. That makes more sense than Honey Cone, anyway. Apologies.
  7. I know! I looked for them on Amazon today; either they aren’t quite out yet or they won’t be sold through Amazon (yes I’ve bought food, mostly snack type stuff, through Amazon before & never had issues with any of it). They might end up being a Walmart exclusive or something. The article I linked didn’t say.
  8. There’s a thread about the home delivery meal companies here. I know Daily Harvest maybe isn’t exactly a meal “kit“, but it’s at least another thread to discuss it in.
  9. I think the group’s name was actually Honey Comb, like the Post cereal & the waxy stuff bees make honey in.
  10. From Fox 8, Cleveland, OH: Gingerbread Oreos Hitting Shelves Just in Time to Kick Off Holiday Season
  11. From Variety: Al Kasha, Oscar-Winning Songwriter of ‘The Morning After’, Dead at 83 No cause of death was given in the obit, but it does say he had Parkinson’s Disease.
  12. I want at least Tom back too, for the reasons already enumerated in the thread. If anyone was playing a drinking game last night, based on how many times Tyra reminded everyone the show was live, I think they’d have gotten pretty plastered.
  13. No. They’re combining this week’s scores with next week’s (& the show’s apparently on TUESDAY next week (or so they said, more than once) & eliminating then.
  14. Regarding the bolded: Actually, they’ve canceled Strahan, Sara and Keke (I’m assuming that’s the show you’re referring to). It was replaced shortly after the pandemic started by a daily show talking about that.
  15. The circumstances of the incident with the author & her son remind me of a similar incident involving former Glee star Naya Rivera & her 4-year-old son earlier this year.
  16. From E! Online: Floyd Mayweather’s Boxing Prodigy, Danny Gonzalez, Dead at 22 After Shooting He was 1 of 3 victims involved in a Labor Day shooting in Moreno Valley, California. He was the only fatality; the other 2 victims were minors treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
  17. I know which episode you’re talking about; I’ve seen it multiple times but I don’t know what season it’s from.
  18. It’s about damn time. But they’re probably only ending this 1 so they can start another instead.
  19. I know it’s on E!. I just don’t know if you’d call E! a network or a channel. That’s what the ? was for.
  20. Jesse Metcalfe isn’t just known for his work on Desperate Housewives & various Hallmark Channel shows. He also played the adult version of Christopher Ewing, adopted son of Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy) & the late Pamela Barnes Ewing (Victoria Principal), on the TNT reboot of Dallas a few years back (before, & basically until, the cancer-related death of Larry Hagman who played the eldest Ewing brother, & the show’s supervillain, JR). To be clear, Victoria Principal was not in the TNT reboot version of the show, only in the CBS original until a season number I can’t remember, though she left before it ended on CBS.
  21. Nikki Bella & her twin sister, Brie, also have a reality show, Total Bellas, on the E! network/channel(?).
  22. Nick’s wife is Vanessa (Minnillo) Lachey.
  23. They probably also at least kind of have to keep it on until at least the end of the year or the beginning of 2021. Thanks to all the virus-related restrictions, it’ll probably be at least November, if not later, until the scripted shows ordered for this fall are ready to premiere. The “reality” shows, at least most of them except maybe Survivor (which I think is already delayed) & The Amazing Race (the status of which I’m unsure), mostly don’t require any sort of travel that would result in quarantining after or before & episodes can be produced faster than the scripted shows. I read that many of the networks could have a lotta “reality” programming on their schedules this fall to fill the gaps left by scripted shows that have been delayed in production because of the virus & the social distancing restrictions currently required among people.
  24. Yes. Carrie Ann’s returning. At least she was the last I heard. I have to say, I think at least Tom, especially Tom (though in many ways Erin too), in my opinion got a raw deal. Or at least little to no respect in how his exit was handled after he hosted for so long. If Tyra doesn’t tank the show this season, I hope she’s a “1 & done” as host & they bring at least Tom back for S30.
