  1. How's this for fun? Claire van der Boom (Danny's ex & Gracie & Charlie's Mom, Rachel in H50) has confirmed, via her Twitter, that she will be co-starring with Scott & actor Michael Weston in Scott's new play, The Trouble We Come From, playing at the Falcon Theatre in Burbank (metro LA), CA June 4th-July 12th. https://twitter.com/clairevandboom/status/594975707656232960 This time, her character isn't (as far as I know, anyway) directly connected to Scott's--not like Rachel & Danny are connected in H50, at least. In the play, Claire plays the girlfriend of Michael Weston's character & Scott plays the best friend of Michael Weston's character. But they're still in the same play, which could still be fun to see if you like Scott & Claire's chemistry in H50 & you might like to see them/see if they still have the same chemistry in a different project.
  2. I think pretty much everywhere uses the "wait 10 minutes" standard for weather. We do in Indiana too, so I had to laugh when that came up in the ep.
  3. Pitch Perfect is a movie starring, among others, Aussie actress Rebel Wilson--who starred in a failed comedy last season on ABC--about a capella singing groups/singing competitions. The sequel to the movie comes out very soon, apparently, & is the cover story in Entertainment Weekly magazine this week (a very pink cover).
  4. Unless they work something out otherwise, or Rachel's life-changing surprise for Danny in Part 1 of Friday's 2-hour Season Finale event is a potential way of writing him out if they can't get him renegotiated, or whatever, satisfactorily over the summer hiatus, as far as I know Scott Caan is still contractually obligated to return for a presumed S6. I think most series leads, like Alex & Scott, sign a 7-year contract, not 5. I think, though, it might be argued that Scott may have mentally checked out of the show & Hawaii at some point in S3. He's never been a fan of the laid-back Hawaiian lifestyle, to start with; he's really made no secret of that from S1 on. And he prefers "character" stories (presumably like Kono's this week) to the usual "procedural" stories in shows like H50. Also, his family is in LA, including the baby daughter he didn't have when he started the show 5 years ago (she'll be 1 on July 9th); the producers have apparently been good about giving both Scott & Grace Park, also a fairly new parent among the cast leads, some extra time off to be with their new kids since their births & I don't think we can or should begrudge either trying to be good parents despite their normally demanding jobs, especially if the showrunners & CBS are actively trying to accommodate this part of their real lives into their jobs. Not for nothing, but way back in S1 (or Pre-S1), when Papa Caan was asked to comment about Scott getting the H50 part in some of Scott's interviews, I'd swear he predicted/outright said Scott would probably get "restless", or a similar word, at some point in his commitment to the show. So, if it's happened, I'm not surprised. And who knows someone better, a lot of the time, than their parents, you know?
  5. Responding to the bolded. Yes, Grace Park is 41 but that doesn't mean Kono is. They've always been pretty non-specific about her age in the show, other than Kono is Chin's younger Cousin & the youngest member of Five-0. In her background, though, I think they said she was a teenager (mid- to late-teens, I think) when she was a competitive pro surfer before her knee blew out, ending that career. Then, in the S2 ep where (the late) Captain Fryer comes to recruit her to go undercover for him & bust Frank Delano's Dirty (Ex-) Cops ring, someone said elsewhere, at the time, that when Kono came home & found Fryer in her house, he was reading a school yearbook (presumably high school) of hers for/including the year 2000 (so either the 1999-2000 or 2000-2001 school year). Also, in the Pilot, she was a week away from graduating from the Honolulu Police Academy. So she couldn't have been that old, because stuff like Police (& Firefighter) Academies normally have both minimum & maximum age requirements for participation. And in the ep where Chin's HPD cop father dies in the convenience store robbery, Chin's drinking a beer at 1 point (& I think talking to Papa McG, who's still his partner); young Kono--but not quite as young as in this ep--comes in & says something at least to Chin, if not also to Papa McG or whomever Chin's talking to, & she either sneaks or tries to sneak a sip of Chin's beer. Chin tells her to stop & reminds her she's still underage for drinking beer (or whatever else it was Chin was drinking). Best guess on Kono's age is she's supposed to be somewhere from her late (probably really late) 20s to mid 30s, at the very most. (shrugs)
  6. Responding to the bolded (as I watch the end of S2 on TNT network here in the US & as I keep my eye on my Twitter for the new Royal Baby's birth announcement--I'm hoping it's a girl, but it'll probably be another boy; healthy & happy is more important than the gender though)... Ian Anthony Dale (aka Adam) also has a part in another police show, Murder in the First, which airs on the same TNT network as the H50 reruns. I think they've been filming their second season, which probably accounts for Adam's absence this ep. Kono said something like he said goodbye to her at home 'cause he didn't wanna go to the canoe to do it (like the team & everyone else important to her did). I know we get at least a little more Adam next week, based on the ep descriptions, if that helps.

  9. Grace Park talks to TVLine.com about this week's Kono-centric/Kono origins ep & next week's wedding episode: http://tvline.com/2015/04/30/hawaii-five-0-season-5-grace-park-preview-finale-wedding/
  10. Thanks for that. I probably did. For some reason I keep thinking Debra didn't kick Rey out for the thing after the execution. I guess Rey's explanation to Lennie somehow doesn't sound, to me, like he's talking about the girl he was with the day of the execution(?).
  11. The Hollywood/NY Trilogy? Yeah, as I remember there's some interest between Rey & the studio executive (played by Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls & Parenthood... I think) who's, like, their liaison with the victim's studio. He doesn't act on it though (but, he manages to have 1-night stands 2 other times while he's on the show, once in the prisoner execution ep where a bunch of the leads end up blowing off steam at a bar afterward, instead of going back to work & Claire dies at the end--he appears to have sex with a hooker who seems to be working there; then sometime before that, as I remember, Rey tells Lennie his wife Debra kicked him out of their family home 'cause she found out he'd had a 1-night stand with a female perp [or something like that]... But she eventually takes him back, since they're still married when Debra dies of MS complications).
  12. That's what I heard too; I think Tom said it. He said Nastia got 3 points plus immunity; everyone else got 2 points for winning their dance-off.
  13. The Photo Independent exhibition (or whatever you call it), which is doing a program with Scott in LA on Sunday, May 3rd (see the above post) has now also announced that Scott has been named the Guest of Honor at their opening night preview, which will benefit The Colburn School. Opening night is Friday, May 1st. The opening night preview will take place at the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood (see above post for the actual address), from 5-10PM Pacific Time. They've further announced that they will also present a special exhibition of over 30 of Scott's photographic works, also at Raleigh Studios, from Friday, May 1st-Sunday, May 3rd. The Friday general show hours are in the above paragraph. The general show hours for Saturday, May 2nd, are 11AM-7PM Pacific Time; general show hours for Sunday, May 3rd, are 11AM-6PM Pacific Time. If you're interested, check the last paragraph at this link for further information: http://www.artfixdaily.com/artwire/release/5674-photo-independent-presents-a-special-exhibition-scott-caan-photog It tells you such things as how to access parking at Raleigh Studios & how much you'll have to pay for it, & gives you another link to go to for further information & to purchase tickets to Photo Independent.

  15. Does anybody besides me remember something called Tasti-Fries (I think that's how it was spelled)? They were a French Fry-type product made by Birds Eye back in the 60s/70s, & the fries had "raised lines" (like a dotted line) on them, on all "sides"/surfaces of the fries--I think those were supposed to have something to do with the cooking process somehow. They also used to be sold at Arby's, I think, as their French Fries product until, I guess, Birds Eye discontinued them. I was really little when they were around, but I still remember all that about them & that I really liked them a lot.
  16. Actress & Game Show Panelist Jayne Meadows Dies at 95 http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jayne-meadows-dead-actress-game-791814?utm_source=twitter
  17. Bradley's gonna be on The Talk on CBS (the daytime talk show hosted by Julie Chen, Aisha Tyler, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, & Sheryl Underwood) tomorrow, Tuesday, April 28th. The Talk airs at 2PM Eastern/1PM Central on CBS (but please check your local listings to make sure of the correct time & channel in your area, so you don't miss it if you're interested). It runs an hour, if you need to set a recorder for it.
  18. They did a 3-part story in the Briscoe/Curtis era, which took place in LA & NY, where an Executive (I think) at a movie studio was murdered & dismembered by her (I think) ex-husband--he may have been her husband still; I forget. He was, like, a movie director & maybe a producer. The murder victim was named Heidi Ellison, if that rings any bells for you. Once they figured out the husband/ex-husband did it (they originally accused her personal trainer, with whom she may or may not have been having an affair), they had all sorts of trouble getting him extradited back to NY, where the murder took place. When they finally got him back to NY, & on trial, McCoy & Jamie managed to pull out a win & get the death penalty for the guy. All this, despite the fact Jamie's controlling ex-husband was on the defense team & (as usual) threatened her with a custody suit over their young daughter, in an apparent effort to screw with the prosecution's case, hopefully by having Jamie resign from the case & her job. That's the only storyline I can think of that involves a guy killing & dismembering his (ex) wife & not getting charged with it right away, but at least getting charged (& convicted) eventually.
  19. Next year (2016), I'm pretty sure. But the season premiere date isn't known yet. It'll probably be around the same time of year as this season ran (around midseason for the non-cable networks).
  20. I couldn't remember if the Lay's ads used real potatoes or Mr./Mrs. Potato Head (like) figures. When I posted, I started to call them Mr./Mrs. Potato Head figures--then I thought that was wrong & went with real potatoes. As for the BK Chicken Fries Ad(s), yes, the implication is the chickens & the French Fries "got together", if you will, & BK Chicken Fries are the result. Somehow I didn't know there were multiple ads in that series. I keep seeing the 1 where, I think, the "birth" of the Chicken Fries is announced; that's the only 1 I've seen.
  21. Grace Park apparently did at least 1 interview with the media about the "Kono mythology/origins" episode airing this Friday. The interview appears to have been done with a writer from The Fresno Bee, I'm not sure how recently, & it was run in today's Honolulu Star-Advertiser. I already read it twice; it's good. Here's the link: http://www.staradvertiser.com/features/20150426__Episode_reveals_Konos_history.html?mobile=true
  22. Regarding the bolded, the same could probably be asked about the Lays (I think) Potato Chips ad where a talking potato comes home to find his wife eating the chips, & then joins her in it at the end, I think with them promising not to tell anybody else (any of their potato friends) what they're now doing behind closed doors.
  23. I don't think there's a paternity question about Grace either. I always thought the ep In a Time Past (can't remember the Hawaiian title, sorry), that flashed back to 9/11 & had Danny find out Rachel was pregnant & then get held hostage with his partner by drug dealers they were trying to bust; & then--in the present--had Danny trapped by a motion sensitive bomb on the day he's supposed to take Gracie to her school's Father-Daughter Dance, pretty much set Gracie's paternity in stone; especially since she was named for Danny's female partner who was killed by the drug dealers. I've *always* thought Charles (Charlie) was Danny's son too. That's what Rachel said to start with. She had no reason to lie about it in S1. And I think she only told Danny the baby was Stan's in S2 because she lets her emotions get the best of her sometimes (said to Steve in Heihei in S1, in which we met the character), she was royally pissed he missed the flight back to New Jersey so he could help get Steve outta the Governor Jameson murder frame up, instead of starting the new life he'd planned with his expanding family, & everybody knows you don't mess with a pregnant woman who's got hormones running rampant. And I think she asked for Danny's help at the birth, when Stan was--as usual--away on business in Beijing, & unable/unlikely to make it back to Honolulu in time for the birth... which Danny claimed was "early" when they arrived at the hospital, because it was the only way to have the real father at the birth without having to admit, then, she'd lied that it was Stan's baby. She could "save face", if you will, & maintain the lie while still letting Danny be with their 2nd child a little bit. Plus, there was all the dialogue in the birth ep mistaking them for a couple, calling Danny the father, someone in Delivery saying the baby wants to meet his parents--referring to Rachel & Danny (since he was in the room & doing all the stuff the father traditionally does)--after the birth & someone else saying the baby had Danny's nose at the Nursery; as well as Rachel & Danny having their (older) child together at the hospital for the birth & the baby being given the middle name "William" (For "Williams", perhaps?) that did nothing to dissuade me from thinking the baby (now older Charlie) was Danny & Rachel's son, not Stan & Rachel's son. I'm with you... Since what Rachel's secret is that's a bombshell for Danny is pretty well figured out, especially if you know Claire van der Boom (who plays Rachel) is in the ep & they've also cast a young actor to play the now-child Charlie in the ep, the only "secret" left to figure out is *why* is Rachel finally telling Danny he actually has 2 kids *now*? And I see your theories as definite possibilities. Rachel could've told Danny before, closer to the birth; she could've waited even longer than 3 seasons in show time; or she could've even gone to her grave *without* telling. But no, she decides to tell him now. Maybe it does have something to do with Stan (like she let her emotions get the better of her with *him*, & got mad enough about something, for some reason, to decide now was the time to tell Danny)--&, by the way, Mark Deklin (who plays Stan), is *not* in the cast list for the ep; neither is Teilor Grubbs, who plays Gracie. Or maybe it's something medical. Although the only doctor in the cast list is Masi Oka's Max Bergman, the ME; so that would seem like a longshot. But I don't know if it'd be medical involving Charlie, Rachel, Gracie, or Stan. I think we can discount Gracie since she's not even in the ep. But I'm not sure how something medical with Stan would cause Rachel to tell Danny he's Charlie's father. Other than "because it's the right thing to do", something having to do with Stan somehow, something medical or something else to do with Charlie (or possibly Rachel), I honestly can't figure out why Rachel's finally telling Danny *now*. Guess we'll see on May 8th.
  24. Responding to the part I bolded (at least to start). Do you think Danny's, I don't know..."snarky", maybe?... reaction to the voicemails from the wife/wives may have some basis in the fact he, himself, went through what ended up being a bad marriage with Rachel, & he's been ambivalent, or whatever, about male/female relationships ever since? (except the relationship with Amber/Melissa seems to be going fairly well... at least maybe better than the 1 with Gaby did, although Gaby & Amber/Melissa have probably actually had the same, minimal, amount of screentime in the show, when it boils down to it) For some reason, I've been wondering if Danny's own bad marriage colored his reaction to the voicemails since I saw that part. And... I'm also looking forward to the "Kono in danger" ep this week, even though we already know things turn out OK, at least since Kono & Adam's wedding is 2 eps after that. I don't think they usually put Kono in what could be major danger, except when she was kidnapped, & Malia was murdered, by Frank Delano's goons at the end of S2/beginning of S3--usually choosing to do that to Steve, instead (or Danny, or at least Chin)--so it's at least a change. I was also gonna say we already know everything with Kono will be OK since she's a cast member in the opening credits (& probably still under contract for S6, once it's confirmed), but after what happened to Dr. "McDreamy" on Grey's Anatomy (which I don't even watch anymore) this past week, we've seen that having time left on your contract (Patrick Dempsey was signed through next season, which GA also hasn't been renewed for yet) & being an actor in the main title credits apparently doesn't mean a thing when the writer gets the idea to shock-eliminate your character in an ep because that's where the "writing muses", if you will, are leading the writer (sort of like when Wo Fat was surprisingly offed by Peter Lenkov in Ina Paha, even though Mark Dacascos was only a recurring, & not a "main title", contract, actor like Patrick Dempsey was on GA). And I'm also still looking forward to finding out *how* Rachel's gonna tell Danny he actually has a daughter *&* a son, not just Gracie; & (hopefully) *why* she decided to tell him now, when she gave birth to the son in mid-S2 (though I'm not gonna be surprised if, when we see him, Charlie's been "aged up", at least a little, & will be at least 5 or something, in character, now). Not to mention, is Danny gonna take it calmly or "blow his stack" because Rachel willfully denied him spending most of the 1st 3 (or whatever) years of his life with Charlie, except for any time Danny might've seen him while picking up or dropping off Gracie, when she lived with Rachel & Stan & Danny just had visitation. I just had to throw that in.
  25. Matthew Rhys was recently named a "brand ambassador" for Penderyn Whisky. This is apparently made in Wales, Matthew's homeland. Matthew recently took his Brothers & Sisters sibling/castmate, Dave Annable, & Dave's actress wife, Odette Annable, to the Penderyn Distillery in Wales for a tour & a tasting... or so it appears: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/business/business-news/matthew-rhys-introduces-penderyn-whisky-9108529#ICID=sharebar_twitter
