  1. I think he said the trophy was very meaningful to he and his family, and that talking about it was emotional.
  2. Sandy Duncan is the queen of cheerful perkiness. I liked having a defense attorney who got that her client was "nutso" and needed help, as opposed to being found not guilty. I've been watching the show on Hulu. One thing that I noticed when watching the Season 6 episode "Custody," the adoptive family gave the cops a current picture of their son (he looks the same when the cops find him on the bus) and said when he came to them he was malnourished and underweight. Later in the episode, they when to the perp's place of work and she has the same picture of the kid taped up at her desk. The perp acknowledged only having first seen her bio kid after he was adopted at the zoo where she took him. She acknowledged having to bribe the social services victim to get the kid's current information only a couple of days before the kidnapping. My question was: Where did she get the up to date picture for her desk?
  3. I think they've had at least one or two episodes where the person they were helping was gay, and they responded compassionately. And while I know they didn't know about Patsy, I think Phyllis did and she had a "seen it all, not a big deal," attitude about it.
  4. It would be interesting. I remember that episode where Sister Julienne wore regular clothes into the community to get an idea of how women her age were seen and viewed by people. I have to imagine they have some idea (or at least a suspicion), even if it's not discussed. He's not particularly subtle.
  5. I don't recall, but Trixie is a trained nurse, as well as a midwife, no? I know her credentials still would not transfer (she'd likely have to attend nursing school classes in the US and pass the nursing boards for New York), but I do think she has qualifications beyond just midwifery. I thought she went back to Jamaica because there was a pushback against immigrants in the UK, and it became too much for her to remain there? I didn't really understand why they didn't just write Cyril off with Lucille.
  6. I don't mind her voice overs, but it is amusing that the voice overs have lasted eleven more seasons than the actual character did on the show. This. It was crazy to me that Rosalind took off after a random bleeding man into what appeared to be a vacant, derelict building. Correct. They said he had to do doctor-training related stuff during the holiday. I do feel like Reggie's abilities change as the plot requires. I was surprised that he rides the bus without an escort given how easily things fell apart for him when Fred was delayed getting to the station.
  7. Did they cut a plotline regarding Cyril? He got that letter from Lucille, complained to his church friend about it saying nothing, then it was not mentioned again. And dear God, was there any plotline more boring and less suspenseful than Reggie going missing? I never got the sense he was in any real danger and couldn't bring myself to care. Rosalind was lucky she wasn't harmed by the escaped prisoner, and LOL at Cyril attempting to make a citizen's arrest. Not sure what to make of Nancy's new guy. Depending on the show, it could be a red flag that he's asking to meet her kid after one date, or they are on their way to marriage.
  8. Episode airs 12/25/24.
  9. I thought the ending was over the top. Margo was a bad person, but having her get burned alive was a little much. And add me to the people who did not understand the reason for the cover up. It was an accident. I don't know if the gun was licensed or properly stored, but I can't imagine the daughter was going to get charged with much if she thought she was shooting a burglar trying to break into her home. I also didn't really believe anyone was going to pull their offer based on a years ago shooting at the house. It was a beautiful home in what appeared to be a great area. They'd have multiple offers.
  10. It appears to be the 2024 special. The preview is up on PBS' site and they say it takes place in December 1969.
  11. Scarlett was a very good sport. I thought the jokes about her got really raunchy, and not in a funny way.
  12. I'll miss the show. It was nice to have a Star Trek show that did not take itself seriously, where it totally made sense that an exocomp named Peanut Hamper could have a sexual relationship with a bird person, a creature called Moopsy sucked the bones out of animals, and you'd get the occasional V'Ger joke. I enjoyed the ending, and seeing the characters move forward to what sounded like bright futures. I'm sure it won't happen, but I'd love to visit these characters again at some point.
  13. They did say the ring cutter they normally used was broken, and the one the local fire department had also was broken. Mind you, trying to use the giant bolt cutter, then the sword, was really stupid, like so stupid as to make the joke not work. It's supposed to be a real hospital, so having them just be idiots isn't as funny as the writers think.
  14. Truly a show that deserved better. I guess it did get three seasons, which is better than most get, but I do wish this was not the end.
  15. I don't know if I would say Georgie is acting as a father-figure to Missy. I think she's too old for that, he's too young and realistically, Georgie is not around her enough to take on that role. I agree.
  16. Yeah, it was like someone pitched, "What if it was Christine, but the car was racist and "we'll figure out the rest before dress," but they simply never did. Thank you. I wondered if there were going to be members of the audience who had no real idea who she was, because her heyday was so long ago.
  17. Yeah, I wondered about that as well. I think she was shot in the shoulder or arm, but I guess she fully recovered in what, an hour or so? The episode was fairly meh. Even with killing off Eddie's partner, and shooting the Mayor, the stakes felt very low, and everything was resolved way too easily. On the positive side, I did like seeing the one last family dinner, even if that felt rushed as well.
  18. I'm not sure what to think of an alternate universe holographic Bashir married to an alternate universe surgeon version of Garak. It was very funny, but the logistics seem somewhat complicated, even with a mobile emitter.
  19. I really like Vanessa Bayer, and am still sad that her Showtime sitcom only lasted a season. Having said that, it did feel a little like she played the character like it was one long SNL sketch. The whole "Please no longer call me Dee Dee, call me "Deh Deh"" was pure SNL. Depends on her intent.
  20. Liza Weil got her role as Paris after she auditioned for the part of Rory Gilmore, but lost it to Alexis Bledel. Apparently ASP liked her audition so much, she created the role of Paris for her.
  21. I thought the Please Don't Destroy sketch was really weird, and not a funny weird, but more of a "where are they going with this" weird.
  22. Thankfully you can. Though I do understand that the show amps the dysfunction up to a 10 for the sake of being funny.
  23. I'll admit there was something amusing about the idea that the Captain has to spend her days sitting through endless crew member recitals. But yes, a lot of filler for a series that only has a couple of episodes left.
  24. Eh, Barbara's students are 5 and 6 years old. I'm not shocked they haven't heard them, or perhaps they have heard their music, but did not know the name of the group. It's not a matter of Abbott's student population, so much as the you'd think the teachers would have more sense, and the school district probably has a policy about these types of celebrations. Heck, even if they didn't, I'd imagine Jacob and Janine raising the issue immediately. It really shouldn't have taken Barbara witnessing her Muslim student being teased for that particular light to go off, so to speak.
  25. Yes. Sometimes the jokes just feel mean spirited. I don't expect Ava to do a 180 and suddenly be best friends with Janine or anything, but the show really shouldn't let the character have it both ways. It's four seasons in, and Ava is almost openly hostile to Janine, even when she shows up on Janine's doorstep seeking camaraderie.
