S21.E11: I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For
txhorns79 replied to chitowngirl's topic in Grey's Anatomy
Was Sophia Bush ill when she filmed the episode? Her voice sounded so hoarse. And I can't even with Ben. Dude, your wife is essentially warning you that you are jeopardizing your job. Listen to her when she says you need to get with the program and start doing what you are told by your superiors. Instead of listening, he responds like a petulant child announcing he'll do what he wants. Finally, get a divorce or open your marriage, Teddy and Owen. It's like every episode is just rinse and repeat as to how bad a couple they are. -
In fairness, I don't think the protocol they have is specific to shootings. It would be for any mass casualty event, like a fire, train derailment, explosion, etc.
-
"You're here!" - Heart melts. And Javadi with her mom! I've seen my mother make the same face that Javadi's mother made at her when Javadi told her to read the f-ing room. That's the "I can't kill you here, but be prepared to discuss this at home," look.

I don't know that it works like that. I'm not even sure Ava has teaching credentials, and given her attitude towards actual work, I don't think she would make a good teacher. How would he have known there was an audit going on?
-
It's funny. I had the same thought, even though her role in that movie was that she was against her daughter participating in the choir.
-
Honestly, I'm a little mixed on this because she did what she was accused of doing by the district. Sure, she made it so the teachers wouldn't go down with her, which is a kind gesture, but it's not like her punishment is unjust. I think they said the teachers would only be suspended. That was why Ava took the blame, because she thought she'd only be suspended. Instead, as an administrator, she was fired.

Was the lawyer a hospital lawyer or Richard's personal lawyer? I thought it was his own lawyer.
-
I liked her shutting down the board guy, but he was also right. Her behavior in going to confess she screwed up to Dixon's widow was reckless and impulsive. She could have set up herself and the hospital up for a giant lawsuit.
-
So there was a mass casualty and the hospital's protocol was to rely on an intern to tell them what to do because he had combat experience as a medic? And were none of the patients triaged in the field? It felt like they were just taking everyone first come, first serve, regardless of need. I'm also thinking the guy they brought back after being down for 45 minutes is going to have serious deficits, if he is able to function at all. So is Richard gone forever? I don't see how the character could ever come back from this. And honestly Amy, just take a job at another hospital. None of these people are worth all this drama.

I didn't think the problem was Shue. I know it's an issue that has been addressed in the past by the production team (and they said if they had known there would be a sequel, Jennifer would not have been in the Delorean at the end of the first movie), but the writers were never able to get past that and the movie suffered for it. On the positive side, I did like the general concept of the future and what the writers of the late 1980s imagined 2015 would be like. Like in a lot of cities, formally run down areas of downtown Hill Valley are spruced up (for example, the parking lot that was in front of the clock tower in 1985 had been turned into a lovely looking park area with a man made lake by 2015).

I can't even imagine what Lennie and Schiff would have talked about. With Schiff, if a cop was interacting with him it was because the police had made a mistake. Van Buren was typically there to get reprimanded in her role as leadership at her precinct because some type of evidence had been excluded due to a police mistake. Sometimes she might also be giving an update on a particularly important investigation. One thing with the revival, and particularly with Brady, is they have started giving the Lieutenant much more to do during the investigation as opposed to Van Buren mostly just being given updates and suggesting courses of action for the detectives. I may not even be remembering correctly, but with the first series, it felt like a big deal if Van Buren was questioning a witness/perp. Here, Brady seems to do it as a matter of course.

And that was just the interns. Imagine Bailey giving the guy a rundown of all the craziness she has experienced at the hospital over the last 20 years.
-
In fairness, we only saw the beginning of the sexual exploits. I wouldn't be shocked if there is more to come.

I did love that moment. Am I the only one who thought the crisis management lady looked like Sarah Palin?

It just got crazier and crazier as it went on. I think if Goggins' eyes could have exploded out of his head, they would have. As an aside, I did not realize Sam Rockwell is in a long term relationship with Leslie Bibb. I appreciated Victoria not knowing what country she is in, but felt bad for her in that she realizes that something is very wrong with her husband, but has no idea what it is and cannot do much about it. I also think Piper sounds like a giant flake with no real idea what she is proposing for herself. I don't know if the show will take it all the way, but I presume Saxon and Lachlan are going to have some kind of sex with one another. Also, poor Belinda. She's scared to death, is likely in real danger and the hotel cares not at all. Finally, very much enjoyed Carrie c**** going wild.

It was an interesting episode. I did kind of wonder why they had the person really pushing this be a second stepmother who just had married the kid's dad the night of the statutory rape. To me it said something to me that she was much more passionate about this than the kid's father. It was like she was almost overcompensating for her tenuous relationship to the kid by trying to force this forward to show that she cared. I didn't have an issue with the casting. The actor plausibly looked high school age to me.

You just know Jed was thinking "Zoey would know where the door was..."
-
I get that Doctor Odyssey is pure fantasy, but seriously, there is no way someone who has just undergone major, very invasive, surgery is crawling around the ship leaving a bloody mess behind them. They aren't back at their post doing anything. They are trying to recover. If they need hospitalization, they are going to the hospital.
-
I always enjoyed "Ellie." You see Jed during the first season being this close and loving parent to Zoey, and suddenly you see an entirely different side of him with Ellie. Where his interactions with Zoey are caring and warm, he almost seems indifferent to Ellie. She cowers in front of him, they can barely have a conversation and he is very dismissive. Now, I understand part of this is his anger over her talking to a reporter and putting him in a box as to the Surgeon General, but he really does seem to have no clue how to deal with her. Both Martin Sheen and Nina Siemaszko do a great job with their scenes.

I just wanted to be like: "You were 14 when McKay's kid was born, yet you feel comfortable telling the kid's mother that you know better for her child."
-
Maybe. If she had more of a relationship with everyone, and it wasn't her first day, I think I would react differently. For example, if it had been Dana who said something to Robby, I would treat it differently because of who she is in that ER, and the credibility she has due to the years of experience. It's not the best way to endear yourself to your colleagues if you come in and start making accusations, even if it turns out you are right.

Yes, I thought the actress playing Dr. Moore was really wooden. It was bad enough that it made what should be an interesting storyline into another boring one in an episode full of boring storylines.
-
I'd think it was more like that an arrest wouldn't help, and the case was over. Shaw was acting way too smug about things for me to think he didn't advise his friend to flee the jurisdiction so as to avoid a subpoena.
-
I appreciated that McKay got a chance to say everything that needed to be said to "bonus" mom. I feel like I would have slapped her, then held her down while I cut off her hair the moment she started lecturing me on what was best for my child. Santos learns the hard way that no one likes a tattletale. And honestly, if you trick a patient and lie to them about the purpose of a particular medication, you can't be shocked when they refuse to take your advice and tell you off later on. So you might think you are doing no harm, but the reality is you are doing real harm because you just poisoned the doctor/patient relationship.

No. The actor on Abbott is Benjamin Norris. The one on High Potential and Ghosts is Deniz Akdeniz. I didn't care much about the karaoke, but did like seeing Ava show some growth on her date. I like when Ava acts like an actual human.
