  1. I don't think the drug was specified, but presumably painkillers. That's the only reason his back suddenly improved from last week.
  2. Yeah, the only real mistake Nick made was not immediately telling Meredith he was taking Bailey to the hospital. That's the kind of thing you don't wait to tell a parent. Of course, if he had, then we wouldn't have gotten the drama. The whole thing felt very performative. The way it was handled made me think the patient simply wanted attention and wasn't really suicidal. ER did an episode during it's first season where Carter is treating a patient and he realizes the patient is transgender woman. Carter reacts to the patient with prejudice. The patient was suicidal but Carter doesn't realize it, and later during the episode, the patient gets to the roof and actually jumps while Carter tries to intercede. Noah Wyle's acting isn't the best during that plot, but it felt more real than this one.
  3. I noticed that too! It was an odd comment given the circumstances, and you'd think Ben and Bailey would have done more than just watched. I think he was just a first year med student, no? She's not a regular anymore, but they've said she will still appear on some episodes. Weren't Jo and Lincoln paged to the ER at the beginning of the episode? Did either actually ever go to check on what was happening, or were they just exiled to their baby storyline the whole time?
  4. It was interesting. You'd think the obvious introduction to death for Beverly Rose would be Roseanne, since Beverly Rose is named after her, but I understand why they wouldn't go there.
  5. I thought it was a lovely scene, and I agree it must be very strange to act out your father's death with him.
  6. I agree they jammed a lot into the last episode. If I had my way, I would have dropped the May storyline since it went nowhere.
  7. If I remember right, when they were going through the board minutes, they noted that the victim had written down dirt about people in the various apartments, i.e. some were having affairs, money troubles, etc.
  8. It wasn't entirely clear, but my guess is she left some record with the agency that adopted him out? I loved that Phyllis was a rock for her during the storyline. The last twenty minutes was all tears. I appreciated that Millicent's son's family took to Millicent instantly, and it was nice she got to be with her son prior to his death. When she mentioned being there for his first and last breaths, I lost it a little bit. I also really liked Trixie's brother taking a hard line with her on her pill use, and that moment when she accidentally set herself on fire was legit scary. The Mother of the Year contest was lovely as well from Reggie talking about his two mothers to the surprise ending where Sister Julienne was honored. Also, good for Joyce for standing up to her sleazebag of a husband.
  9. He was retired from being a Captain (presumably without a choice), and is now coming back as second in command. I presume they aren't both going to be the rank of Captain, as that would make for a strange chain of command.
  10. Realistically, it should be a nightmare. We've seen Rayner doesn't particularly respect authority, and now he's accepted a demotion to work under Michael. When Michael said she didn't want a "yes" man, I wondered why she didn't consider the smarter question, i.e. "if it came down to it, and Rayner didn't agree with her decision, would he still support her?"
  11. Particularly when their roommate is their aunt who has benevolently opened up her home to them! Does that really change anything? They started the operation with no attending, and the patient died. That they initially had the appropriate staff with them doesn't really change that. I know, this is the same hospital where Schmidt killed someone due to recklessness as part of the Webber Method and ended up coddled and fine, so I'm not actually worried about any of these surgeons.
  12. I think the Chief suggested she has too many lieutenants on her squad and that might be where it would be appropriate to cut someone.
  13. That's just tv. The women always seems to have long, glamorous, flowing hair that is completely impractical for whatever career they have.
  14. How does Herrera not get fired as Captain? Early in the episode, the Chief points out that as Captain Herrera represents the department and was wrong to have gotten into it with protesters at the pride parade. Herrera's response is not to apologize for the breach of protocol, but to suggest she was in the right to defend her friends. Later in the same episode, Herrera is openly confrontational with the Chief, claiming the Chief is putting her own interests ahead of what is right for the department. I just want to be like, Herrera the Chief is your boss, and all you are doing is showing her why you are too much of a hothead to be Captain. I also wonder if they setting up Warren to get let go with his back injury, as a way to move him back to Grey's when this show ends in a few weeks.
  15. And to make it worse, it wasn't some 10 hour surgery where people not participating could be excused for losing focus, it was only 20 minutes long! I would be embarrassed by my interns as well if I observed that none of them were paying attention.
  16. Perfectly enjoyable show. I love the view from Molly's new house.
  17. Carol Burnett is a national treasure. She can only speak nonsensically, and she is still perhaps the best and funniest part of the episode. I'm not sure what to make of Maxine. She stole Norma's jewelry and pawned it, so she's happy to steal when it suits her. The reporter's questions indicate that she's probably lying about her background and she's knowingly written bad checks all over town. On the other hand, even with all her social climbing and criminality, she's mostly caring when it comes to Norma, even if she is stealing from her, with only occasional negligence. She also lets Robert be around Norma and care for her, even though they are antagonists.
  18. It was nice to see a happy ending. I'm sure there will be other threats, and yes, Rick blowing up a walker horde surrounding him without any real injury to himself was ridiculous.
  19. I guess it was "bad husband week" on Call the Midwife. Your choices are abusive stalker, child molester or self-centered, financially destitute guy. I give the actor playing Joyce's husband credit. He hit all the right notes to make the character legit terrifying with stalking Joyce while she works and showing up at Nonnatus House posing as her cousin. I have a lot of trouble seeing how Trixie could stay with Matthew. He certainly doesn't seem to care about her or her opinion when making big decisions for their family.
  20. No. I'm watching. I'm not entirely sure what to think of the show. The tone is all over the place. I agree about not being sure who to like. Are we supposed to root for Maxine?
  21. I realize the show films in LA, but if you are going to pretend it is February in Seattle, at least have people act like it is cold. Also, that seemed like a very sad Pride parade, with like two floats and a very small crowd, but that might just be the show's budget showing.
  22. I would tell Schmidt he dodged a bullet. Nico's explanation of his current relationship sounded nuts. No one should become a parent because they are desperate to hold onto a nine month old relationship. That is only going to lead to eventual resentment of the kid and the boyfriend.
