Enraged Birders To Retake Oregon Wildlife Refuge <wink> Loved last night's show. SC cracks me up. Despite the decline in ratings, I expect SC to be there for years. I only hope that Stephen can relax his interviewing, allow the guest to expound and curb his tendency to try and be funny with almost everything he says. Not every line has to be a witty comeback. -
S02.E10: Grey Green Brown & Copper
Fisher King replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Transparent [V]
I think the reusing of young Ali as a young Grandma Rose could be from present-day Ali's personal imagination of her family history. The reuse of Michaela Watkins & Bradley Whitford is a wink (and good casting) from Soloway & Co. Great point. I'd also be interested to know if there will be any revelations to the family of how much of Ali's daydreams align with their true history. This could possibly be where Maura's sister returns to shed some light on that. -

Yes, Natalie deserved better than 3 seconds. I kind of tuned out after Susan Sarandon. Keep up the good fight, Susan! If today is to set the tone for the rest of the season, then I give it a B for barely better. Of course this show doesn't know how to be consistent, except consistently a crap shoot. At least we didn't have to view Stacey London's deal. I didn't hear Paula say she'd vote for Trump but can't say I'm surprised. She might change her mind. I wonder of Trump supporters would be fewer is so many of them weren't Hillary haters. Sunni said she used to be a DJ years ago - DJ Sunni or CoCo (another story), but that now everything's digital. When Joy mentioned the cruise & grandma, I think Raven shouted out to her mother that yes she knows SHE looks like grandma - in that gray hair.

Yeah, the new mugs are the only new thing. Well, Whoopi is treating the Cosby subject as just another topic. All of the previous bias she exhibited has been tempered. Raven's gray wig is so unflattering. I think she is cringing at herself now, but it was too late to change before airtime.

This should definitely be referenced next week: Cosby, the 78-year-old comedian has been charged for an assault that allegedly took place near Philadelphia in 2004. http://www.usatoday.com/?csp=breakingnews

This US version of Mad Dogs premieres January 22 on Amazon Prime Instant Video in the UK, the US and Germany. http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Dogs/dp/B00RSGHX3Q I watched the pilot some months ago and it looks very good and intense. A great cast, including Allison Tolman.

I suffered through most of it. Whoopi has an excellent narrating voice - when she's not on camera - but she obviously was not in the best performing mode for this reading. Felt like a last-minute request she had to get through.

According to Alan Sepinwall's interview with Jill Soloway, they are working on the third season. The interview contains absolute spoilers for this season and Soloway points to possible storylines for S3.

And that's the god's honest truth. Both Douchey & Killmenow were morons right outta the gate and Bits just fit right in. Someone, maybe Chris Wallace, just got fed up and threw the hammer down.

Hope all you The Spew (sorry, it's just not The View anymore) family here have wonderful holidays with someone(s) you love and/or somewhere you really want to be. You guys are highlights of my online days & I appreciate you being here. Happy Greetings to all you MODS as well!

LOL. Excuse me, Elisabeth. Isn't "Grase" spelled with a C instead of S? And I think "Jeezus" doesn't look quite right.

S02.E10: Grey Green Brown & Copper
Fisher King replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Transparent [V]
The last episode sure made up for whatever frustrations that may (or may not) have been exhibited in previous eps. I love this show but have to admit to some distractions - or character actions - apart from Maura's journey. But like any personal revelations, they can't not eventually affect those around us, even when we unintentionally but selfishly hurt the ones supporting us the most. Maura's falling back into familiar, frustrating routine with Shelley was a harsh reality, and a misstep neither deserved. Maura's judgmental words to Davina were devastating, and Davina was awesome in her defense. I sure hope Maura learned something. Maura was able to disguise her "little secret" all her life but Davina never had that entitled privilege. I wasn't sure if Ali's Weimar daydreams were sheer fantasy or not. I was profoundly reassured with the meshing of ghosts of Pfeffermans-past. Maura & Ali's conversation on the train was an honest and much-needed moment. Brownie points for Ali there. The short time with Grandma Rose, Maura's sister, the holocaust ring & the sunset broke me. The scenes of sexual kinks don't bother me, it's the uncomfortable situations Sarah keeps getting herself into that make me cringe. The sexiest things to me this season were Anjelica Houston's legs. I hope AH sticks around awhile. She's good for Maura & I hope Maura doesn't find a way to muck it up. Loved seeing Richard Masur again. I didn't trust Buzz at first but if Shelley is that amazed that he dares drive at night then he can't be all bad. His scenes with Josh also broke me. Jay Duplass stepped up his acting chops somewhat this season. I think he'll go back & retrieve Colton. And I hope we haven't seen the last of Raquel. Love her. The musical score, opening credits and song selection continue to be top-notch. Even though there were many negative reactions to this season, it's hard to deny that Jill Soloway & Co. can tell an honest, powerful story of people who struggle with living outside "the norm." There are folks living inhibited lives everywhere. Kudos to Soloway for bringing those inhibitions to light, as uncomfortable as they can often be. -
Yes, if Bits is anything, she is gullible to TPTB (men). She can be told that it's time for her to be a conservative, religious pundit, and VOILA! She believes she is. She can be told that FOX is looking for a conservative, religious "journalist" as soon as Sweaty Geddie can twist a couple of arms and VOILA! She's in at FAUX. She can be told that it's time to tell the camera that she needs to be Chief Breakfast Officer (or some stupid shit) and she believes it. No, Le Bits was fired. I refuse to believe otherwise. I do sorta feel sorry for the kids though. Her idea of breakfast is likely cases of stale, gluten-free nutty bars that expired 3 years ago.

Oh gah, that's so awful. They really did try their best to say positive things about her, but just like FOX, it's all crap. I did crack up at the kid with the miniature UPS truck. Elisabeth tried to interact but the kid wanted nothing to do with her. (Sorry for repeating what you wrote, Cosmo!)

That sweater was a real embarrassment. Does she believe that both Santa and Jesus are real? That one is no different than the other? I don't get it.

I doubt Bits will be back for a last day sendoff.
