  1. I use Opera as my browser on my Mac, and it has a great ad blocker as one of its Preferences.
  2. Maybe animal shelter blankets? I know my cats don't pay any attention to what they sleep on (unfortunately).
  3. Ah, Thank you. I'm glad it is just greasy chicken water, which is better than chicken grease. When I make chicken broth (in my InstantPot), I add some carrots, onion and celery to give it some flavor. Then I strain it and cool it and skim the fat. But that is just me. I won't be making Jill's recipe in any case!!
  4. Just last week I found a letter that my dad wrote to his parents when I was born. He wrote how ugly I was, and that I would probably get cuter, but it would take a long time. My parents and I had a good laugh, but, I guess, not all parents think their babies are cute!
  5. Since there is no mention of chicken broth in the list of ingredients, does she mean to save the grease from broiling the chicken to mix with the rest of the recipe? Grease does not equal broth in my mind--or my cooking.
  6. My dad enlisted in the navy Dec. 7, 1944; the first anniversary of Pearl Harbor. He was 18. We were looking at pictures of his ships and reading letters he had sent to his parents just this week, and although he is 98% nonverbal now, he still shows great pride of his time in service both in the Pacific in WWII and Korea. I asked him once where he was on VJ Day, and he said he was in the Philippians and his ship was loaded with underwear. They had to change their destination and ended up taking the cargo to Japan. I thought that was pretty funny.
  7. I have good luck untangling chains with pins and patience. Putting the chain "knot" in a little puddle of water also helps. The knot seems to become looser and easier to separate with the pins.
  8. Finland is NOT a "cheap" place. I was shocked at the price of food and hotels. But is so beautiful. Just plain gorgeous. I would love to go back, but I would have to save up for a long time to afford it. I would say a package deal would be the best bet. You would run low on funds very quickly just eating on your own.
  9. This has always been a grip of mine--fold marks. I hate it on "decorating" shows, also. How many times have I seen new curtains hung, complete with the fold lines from the package. Irons don't bite--really! At least run items through the dryer with a damp cloth. Or use a steamer.
  10. Is anyone else getting kicked off this site with a "temporary technical problem" message? I have received this message several times this afternoon, after which the the site closes. I cannot log in as I usually do, but can get in if I go back to my browser and open the Previously TV site. However, I do not have to log in again as my login info is still in place and active.. This has happened several times and I have not had this happen before. Is this just a glitch in the new set-up?? The above was written yesterday, and for some reason did not post. Today I have not received the "technical problem" message, but all of my topic pages have reset back to page 1 instead of coming up on the last-read post. Is anyone else having this experience? (Now to see if this will post today...)
  11. Piece of cake. I've done it twice, and both times it was actually a very easy procedure. You are doing the worst part tomorrow (the prep). You are "out" for a very brief time, and are ready to eat as soon as you leave. Good luck!!!
  12. My mother has called my father "Dad" for ever. It's no big deal in our home. (They've been married for 72 years.) I do not think it is odd, but rather a term of endearment.
  13. Wait a minute. The ingredients list has frozen green beans, and the instructions (all recipe version) says canned green beans. Which is it? Canned beans have much more sodium, and taste different. I really can't tell what kind of beans she is using from the picture.
  14. I recently met a woman who has a "seizure" dog. The woman has epilepsy, and the dog is specially trained to warn her when a seizure is coming. This lets the woman get into a safe place or position (like sitting down) in time. The dog was extremely well behaved and specifically trained to alert in case of seizure. Having the dog allows her to go out in public, attend concerts, etc. It was pretty interesting. I would love to take my kitten shopping or to church with me. I'm quite sure other people I came in contact with would not be as happy. I do think there is a real place for therapy dogs, but, I agree, I do not like to see "pets" passed off as well-trained ESA animals.
  15. No problem. I really like this holder because it is extremely light weight since it is filled with micro beads. I've been using it with my iPad pro in it's case, and it holds the iPad very securely and easily. "Look Ma, no hands" 🙂 Mine is sort of teal blue.
  16. I made the original post. I have the Lap Pro mini from Amazon, and I love it. It is listed as "Amazon's Choice". There is a choice of colors, patterns and sizes. The mini is perfect for any reader up to the new 9.7 iPad Pro. Hope this helps.
  17. I wonder is she actually knows it should be "want to". I doubt she has had any education in correct grammar and usage.
  18. Delightful here, too. Had the doors open most of the day. Actually, I would like more winter, but NOT the horrible wind/rain storm from a couple of weeks ago. That was scary.
  19. I'm watching this season because someone from my town is on, but I am really finding this show so stupid. In seasons past, you could actually learn something about cooking. Now it is just people acting dumb as they can. And what is with all the antics and hijinks. I used to have a lot of respect for Anne as a chef/teacher. Not so much any more.
