  1. I am left feeling really dumb by this episode. I couldn't figure out where Bjorn and company had landed, I also wondered about the lack of visual violence usually shown during a Viking invasion. I didn't know what was going on with Floki and Helga (are they both losing their minds?), and Lagertha's attitude towards Ragnar is somewhat baffling. I mean, they've been separated for such a long time and I can understand a certain amount of grief, but the longing? I don't get that. Then there are the Aslaug sons. With the exception of Ivar, Ubbe and Sigwhatever are just not impressing me. I'm glad they shed some light on the figure (Odin?) last seen in a boat. I liked the last 5 minutes of the episode a lot.
  2. I'm not one to get too worked up over casting choices if the actor owns the role and JRM did as Henry VIII in The Tudors. Loved him. Ditto for the snakes. The snake pit was icky times 10 and I don't think any body cared about them one way or another after they had served their purpose. Aelle probably had a standing order for snakes from various ports of call like other people had for more practical items.
  3. Exceptional episode. RIP Ragnar. You will be missed.
  4. Yeah, and I'm not all that impressed with the portrayal either.
  5. Great comparison! Nothing much more to add to the already posted raves about the Ragnar/Ecbert scenes. They were truly a pleasure to watch. And Ragnar's reaction when meeting Athelstan's son blew my socks off. Two lines of dialogue out of Judith's mouth were plenty--all I could stand actually. What a waste of space. As far as Aslaug is concerned, I thought she showed maximum disrespect when she threw the sword at Lagertha's feet instead of handing it to her. I'm sure that didn't make Lagertha feel like doing her a solid. On reflection, I think all that safe passage talk was code. There was no way in hell Aslaug was getting out of Kattegat alive and (since she wasn't a fighter to begin with) I think the arrow in the back was akin to covering someone's eyes with a blindfold before they're executed. At any rate, I don't care and she did get a fancy Viking funeral which she really didn't deserve. I just want to see what the fall-out is going to be when Aslaug's sons decide what to do. Still, I'm of the opinion that Bjorn should be the HMIC as the eldest son after Ragnar/Lagertha. I thought Magnus was Athelwulf's kid. Wasn't he screwing around with Princess Crazy Pants? If so, he's even more of a son of a bitch than previously thought. How is he just going to throw a gently reared child out into world like that? Jerk off. Okay, I'm in love with Torvi's braids and I'm never one to comment on hairstyles. Still hate Astrid. Why didn't Ubbe just jump up and choke her to death?
  6. In my case, nothing good I can assure you. LOL
  7. Disagree with this. I will be sorry to see Ragnar go. He is a fascinating character with many facets. As far as being horrible, exactly who on the show isn't? He is human, not a cartoonish figure. I appreciate how the character has been portrayed both in writing and performance by the actor.
  8. Meet one GoT fan who despised Catelyn from the moment her pinched, hateful face appeared. The comparison to Aslaug is a fair one I think.
  9. I don't like Aslaug and think she's really unattractive, but the scene between her and Ragnar was golden. Kudos to both actors. I agree that Astrid is off-putting and seems too modern and out of place for Vikings. I liked Ivar telling his mother that he didn't want to be pitied and wanted to spend one day as a man with his father. I was also impressed by Ivar's determination to board the ship on his own. Kudos to the actor because I know that was harder than it looked. I'm really not liking Sigurd. He's a snake like his mother. And I'm wondering if there is going to be a physical altercation between him and Ivar somewhere down the line. I felt sorry for Ragnar in all situations. Whereas the old Ragnar would have done some serious damage to the villager who spit on him, I couldn't help but feel pity (and sadness) when he said, "Thank you for your time" and shuffled off after the abuse. Again, I didn't miss England or Paris; although, it will be interesting to see what happens when Bjorn approaches Rollo for safe passage. I hope we get a little bit of fireworks because I still can't stand Rollo. I'm amazed the slave girl didn't end up dead and was as confused as others were as to what was going on with Aslaug in the last scene. One thing Aslaug should never do though is cover her face with blood (not a good look) and it gives me a happy knowing that Lagertha still doesn't like her.
  10. The more I hear and read about this buffoon, the more I fear the USA will become a nuclear powered banana republic.
  11. Glad the show is finally back. I liked getting to know the brothers and seeing their interactions with each other. I agree it was hard to tell them apart, but I guess it will get easier going forward. Right now, psychopath or not, Ivar is the most intriguing. Did not miss England or Paris AT ALL. I'm in the "meh" camp as far as Astrid and Lagertha are concerned. I personally think Lagertha has enough positive checks on her things to do list without taking on Astrid as a lover, but whatever. I think Lagertha is aging gracefully and as always I loved her and Ragnar together. They still have knock-out chemistry. Floki seems to have mellowed with age, so "yay!" I guess. I'm glad he did his little maniac laugh at the end; otherwise, I would have thought something was really wrong with him. Gotta say that I love Ragnar's head ink and Bjorn is just Bjorn. The jury is still out on him. All in all, a good start to the back half of the season.
  12. Okay, I must have been the only person screaming for Mike to just kill Greg already. I never liked Greg and he never erased the needy, pathetic, vindictive impression I had of him. I'm glad he's dead. Moving on. Agree that Ghost over played his hand and was beyond stupid. I understand wanting to be the master of your own destiny, but he burned a lot of bridges and he really has no one to blame but himself for losing the loyalty of those closest to him. He got close to his dream and lost it all. Will they please kill off crusty ass Kanan and too fucking dumb & annoying to live Tariq? I am sick to death of both of them. If I were Tasha I would have texted back: "not worth any amount of money, he's yours." Whorish Angela...never gave her a lot of thought one way or another, but that bitch needs to go down. And since when does an attorney handcuff and arrest someone? Bruja, please. Tommy was right, she should have been put out of her misery a while ago. I still don't think Tommy is leader material even if he is good at the rest of the job. Not to mention, once you're king of the hill you have to spend a considerable amount of time defending the hill and chasing off usurpers. I've never really liked Tasha, and her big fucking mouth is one of the reasons why. I also don't buy all the concern she has for Holly; a bitch that steals from me is never forgiven or given a place at the table. WTF? The only good thing about this episode was the execution of Milan. The rest was pretty much ridiculous.
  13. I disagree with your opinion. Tariq has limited rights as a minor in his parents' home. He is not an adult and he is not their equal. He can express his unhappiness about the changes affecting his life, but doing so inappropriately and disrespectfully is what got him almost popped in the mouth by his mother and jacked up by his father. He doesn't know everything about their lives nor does he have the right to. He is a child. And if he'd been dealing with me, not only would I have hit him with heaviest object I could lay my hands on, he'd also find his ass out on the street with no home or any of the spectacular creature comforts associated with said home. Then he'd see how grown he was real fast. You don't have to like what your parents are saying or doing, but you don't ever come at them like they're one of your peers because they're not and it's not their job to be your fucking friend. IMO, that's what wrong with kids today; they've been given too much and they're too damn entitled.
  14. No, that would have been Holly (being a smug cunt). I hated that bitch from the moment she showed up and have been hoping that someone...ANYONE...would off that skanky thing. So, kudos to Tommy, although I would have preferred a bullet between the eyes. She was always scheming, trying to be a player with her low rent ass, and had no idea who she was messing with or how complex the relationships between the crew were/are. Ghost and Tommy are homies for life. She may have gotten Tommy to back her dumb ass up when she stole Tasha's earrings, but no way was he going to be cool with a hit on Ghost. Even if she had been successful, did she really think she was going to get away with that unscathed? I'm thinking Tasha alone would have gone medieval on her ass. Holly bet on magic pussy and lost big time. What a fucking moron. Good riddance to stinking trailer trash. Agree that Ghost's security team was right on time. Yes, extra money in the form of a bonus or fee is definitely deserved. The next fucker that needs to go is Kanan. Welcome worn out. He's like a rabid animal and he's ugly. I could do with more Julio screen time, though.
  15. Just finished binge watching this on Hulu. I really enjoyed the series with just a few nitpicks. Santiago is eye candy, but I am so sick of him playing characters who zero in on women already involved in relationships. I didn't like that the Dauphin was a total fraud and that he just had to be Aramis's child. I really didn't like Queen Anne or the actress playing her; I found her unsympathetic and annoying. The decision to have Aramis constantly sniffing around her bugged me, too. What a tiresome trope. I loved Athos, he was my favorite, and I enjoyed D'Artagnan and Porthos. The remaining ladies were okay in order of likability...Milady, Constance, Sylvie, Elodie. But I mainly watched for the men ("all for one and one for all!") the sword fighting action and the beautiful horses.
  16. I know most people don't give a shit about this show anymore (myself included), but when I ran across this incredible piece of spin I knew of only one place it would receive the call out for bullshit it deserves. A combination of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle," this Fox fantasy drama follows the adventures of Colonial soldier Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and the Headless Horseman revived in modern times. Crane has helped small-town police lieutenant Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) investigate spooky crimes, primarily ones caused by the Headless Horseman and other supernatural monsters. Their partnership lasted until the third season finale, in which Abbie apparently died during an attempt to disarm Pandora's Box. 17. I thought Maisie's dress was adorable. It was young and fun like she is. I didn't like Sophie's dress or her hair at all. If she has a stylist, I'd fire the bitch if I were her. Emilia's gown was old school glamorous. AFA Kit is concerned...the man is flawless in whatever. Regarding individual acting awards, I didn't expect any of the cast to win in these categories (although I rooting for Kit). In fact, I would have been shocked if someone had. I was doubly amazed that ST even got a nod seeing as her portrayal of Sansa is so one note and indecipherable compared to say Maisie who makes you get Arya at all times (whether you like where the character is going or not).
  18. I saw no evidence that Catelyn cared about any child who wasn't pulled from her body. As a matter of fact, I saw no evidence that she cared about anyone she wasn't personally tied to. HER husband, HER children. She was distant and arrogant towards everyone else.
  19. Item 1. WHAT? One doesn't need to have a BLOOD relationship to a child to treat said child kindly. If she LOVED Ned so fucking much, her obligation should have been that Jon was her husband's child. And if you want to dismiss obligation how about human decency towards (in her words) a motherless child? The circumstances of his birth was not his fault. Item 2. Fuck GRRM. He put something out there and it's open to interpretation by his audience. I don't pay his blatherings any attention. Item 3. Caring about one's children to the exclusion of all other children IS unusual. It's hardwired in most people to care for the young and helpless. Items 1 & 3. Totally agree. Items 2. YMMV on abuse. There are many forms of abuse and IMO she was abusive.
  20. Being emotionally distant to a child (who can clearly feel the difference in his/her treatment in the family dynamic) makes the child in question miserable. It's also abusive in a passive-aggressive way. Catelyn was a bitch for her treatment of Jon (her later admission to Robb's wife didn't make her sympathetic in my eyes, it just hardened my hatred for her). The way she hissed at Jon when he said good-bye to Bran showed me without a doubt the depth of her loathing and hatred for him. I don't think for a minute that was the first time she behaved like that towards Jon. I don't care how insulted she was, she didn't have to be so cold, but then again, Catelyn didn't have a better nature. She only cared about her children. And while I despised her and danced at her death, Ned should never have allowed Jon to be treated so wretchedly. I double down on the sentiment now that we know Jon is his sister's child. Ned's silent tolerance condoned Catelyn's behavior and added to Jon's misery. In this he was a fucking wuss.
  21. Everyone knows that Jon is a bastard, but that fact doesn't make usurpers (like the Boltons) worry less about him that is why Ramsay wanted to kill him. And again, the North was thoroughly over the Stark name (back to Robb and the Red Wedding) when Jon & Sansa were looking for bannermen to come to their aid. Sansa's value was to the political players in KL and LF, not so much in the North.
  22. I believe Locke was killed by Hodor (under Bran's influence) during the battle at Craster's Keep.
  23. I get what you're saying, but at the end of the day I think you either roll with the way things are presented or you make yourself crazy in forums like this. I personally could give a shit how Jon's resurrection will be handled in the books, I'm good with how it was handled on the show. I really have no intention of reading GRRM's take on it whenever he decides to publish. Jon is a special snowflake. He rose from the dead. But the only thing that would have made the Northern houses rally around Jon was knowing that others had already committed, or if Sansa had told Jon about LF's offer to commit the Vale's army. Manderly, Glover and Cerwyn were not willing to be the first. If the Northerners didn't know about his resurrection prior to naming him KitN, they soon will. The very people who witnessed the miracle are among them right now. People talk. Ravens fly. There is no way in hell this will stay quiet for long. I'd rather not have valuable time wasted on logistical matters and easily deciphered details, but rather in scenes that actually further the plot. The well known thing is that House Bolton was defeated and Jon Snow was responsible. The well known thing is that Jon Snow went to war with the men he had and was willing to fight to the death. The well known thing is that when the Vale army showed up, Jon was still standing and beat Ramsay's ass into the dirt. IMO, the idea that Jon deserted from the NW is a moot point. No one cares. The person who would have passed judgment on him for that is the Warden of the North, who I guess now is Jon. All of this debate about Jon's being a deserter and whether or not Sansa should have been named as Lady of Winterfell/Queen of the North makes my head hurt. I really wish Sophie Turner would shut the hell up about Sansa's motives because I think she's mainly talking out of her ass. IMO, she doesn't have the emotive skills to make us clearly understand what Sansa is feeling. If she did, we wouldn't be having all this discussion about what this or that Sansa scene means. What I've seen is Sansa make one bad decision after another. She may fancy herself a "player," but that would largely be in her own mind. Sansa doesn't have an army; the Vale's army is loyal to Robin Arryn, who is totally controlled by his stepfather (Littlefinger). The Tullys are a non factor with the Blackfish dead and Edmure the prisoner of the Freys. And even if Edmure somehow is restored to power, any Tully army would be his to command, not Sansa's. She would be dependent on his decision to lend aid to the Starks and that's not a given. If you've read any of my posts, you'll know how I feel about Sansa being the "savior" of the battle of the bastards, and that little stunt did not earn her any brownie points with me. I saw Littlefinger's expression during the KitN scene as one perturbed by the turn of events. I thought Sansa looked worried because he's a snake. If by some bizarro state of affairs LF is able to win Sansa's trust and get her under his influence, it will bring him one step closer to the IT. If Sansa is DUMB enough to fall for anything LF offers after everything that has happened, I'll hate her even more than I do now and will be rooting for Drogon to burn her to ash. Regarding the writing, I think it's easy to dismiss the writing off hand when you're watching one episode at a time. I've watched each season's episodes back-to-back and I'm impressed by the overall tightness of the plotting with few exceptions; one being Dorne and the other Sansa. I don't feel that any of the big scenes were written just to be cool without previous story beats supporting them. I feel the heart in those scenes and I love them. YMMV, of course.
