  1. Fast thoughts. I adore Sophie. She is smart, resourceful and a stand-up person all around. I liked seeing her and Abbie work together and have respect for each other's abilities. Nice friendship developing there. Way to go, Show. Call me foolish, but I wasn't expecting the coolness (for lack of a better word right now) between Ichabbie. After all the feels and desperation of the last two weeks, their first interaction was like a bucket of cold water in the face. What is up with that??? Danny. Why is he bugging? Okay, I get that he and Abbie had a thing that didn't go as expected, but I don't understand his hot and cold attitude towards Abbie. And then there's Abbie. When she finally decides to open up a teensy bit with Danny, she's all cryptic. What I'm coming away with is this: whatever she felt for Danny she never felt for anyone else, which pretty much says she doesn't think of Crane romantically at all, but I'm not sure how to interpret the rest of her comments. I'm not sure I buy into the idea that she wants to continue whatever they had. I don't know; maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but if this is going to be Danny & Abbie as opposed to Crane & Abbie, I'm afraid my new TV won't survive the season. Whatever the MOTW was, it was NASTY and CREEPY. Joe & Jenny at the auction seemed to go on forever. But I did like Pandora coming in all badass and declaring that no one was taking her power again. Ooooo! Turn that fury on THO, girlfriend. So...it would seem Joe has some residual Wendigo juice darkening his soul. I am shocked and impressed by the symbol/tablet/witness reveal. That was AWESOME and frankly unbelievably delivered for this show. LOL Best scene ever? Well, that would be a toss up between Crane appearing and taking care of business in defense of his "partner," followed by Crane asking Abbie what was wrong (in the sexiest voice ever, I might add), then delivering that line about thinking that things might hurt when they actually will save you. Wow. That was a really nice scene. Loved it. So, THO is all about killing Witnesses? Um, okay. Props for a flashback that didn't hinge on Crane or SBR. 3 weeks with no Betsy. Damn! We are on a roll. I love it. And lastly, I don't hate Jenny & Joe, but I don't ship them either and I'm tired of them sucking up all the personal relationship time on this flipping show. That is all for now.
  2. Crane is definitely biding his time until he can put some serious moves on Abbie. LOL
  3. Having re-watched Dark Mirror, the parts that made no sense to me at first (goat-scorpion man and THO/Pandora back story) played better the second time around. I agree that Leeds was an entertaining monster, but does SH ever keep monsters around for very long? No? Okay, moving on then. THO's plan may not seem all that interesting, but I have to admit he cut a fine figure in his new duds. And I'm hoping that there will be some kind of pay-off to this s/l by the end of the season, otherwise it will be another head-scratcher, waste of time (like CFD). I must say that I like the idea of Joe using some of his "flood" money to get Crane an expensive lawyer and a bespoke suit to fight his immigration status. Speaking of which, I love how Jenny reads Crane and how she noted his frame of mind did a 180 once Abbie was present. Suffonsified? I had to look that up. LOL 2 weeks without SBR?! We must be living right. I missed Sophie; Danny, eh. But this story didn't really need them. LOL'd at all the shade thrown at Benjamin Franklin. Show, you need a wig budget. What the hell was that on Leeds' head? Things I liked, don't know why but I did...Crane chauffering Abbie around, Abbie insisting Crane take the lead in going into a dark, scary lair. I really could have done with a longer edit of the final Ichabbie scene. Abbie was adorable (even though she was suffering) and if they had stayed with them, I'm sure Crane would have hugged her. Damn it, Crane, hugging is permitted!!!! THIS. And THIS. To be fair, Leeds struck hit Crane with his tail and Ichabod started feeling the effects of the venom immediately, also Leeds knocked Abbie out, so IMO the fight in the laboratory doesn't reflect poorly on Team Witness.
  4. Miss Dee, the gifsets you're asking for are all over Tumblr. I'm loving the slow burn between Ichabbie. I don't know how he kept himself from embracing her when she looked at him with eyes full of tears and asked him to help her. I. Am. Dead.
  5. I am going to need to watch this again because it's hard to tweet and watch everything at the same time. LOL But a few quick thoughts: Loved, loved, loved Team Witness having Sunday brunch together. Ditto for Crane and Jenny noticing that something was not quite right with Abbie and agreeing to spy on her. Abbie looked lovely throughout the episode. And Crane. Wow. I guess I really am a sucker for old world charm. The man has some swag. Where did Joe get money? Did I miss something? Jenny closing the door in Joe's face. LOL OMG when Crane was succumbing to the poison and called out "Abbie!" I almost died. When Abbie finally snapped to, gave him the antidote, then kissed his head and cradled him against her, I DIED. And finally, the last scene between them when she showed her vulnerability and asked him for help...how can anyone NOT be a Ichabbie shipper after that? I didn't think Abbie telling Crane about the symbol was anti-climatic. Yes, he had figured it out for himself, but it was a huge step for her to tell him and don't think he didn't realize it. Be back later with more thoughts.
  6. THIS. I picked up on this the moment I saw the picture.
  7. Thanks for the rune info. So nice to see they (writers) actually did some research. Anyhoo, it's a safe bet that this is all tied to Pandora & THO. I'm basing this solely on Crane's partial interpretation of the runes while in astral form and Pandora's reaction to the place when she arrived there. This could be sooooo good!
  8. I really, really LIKE this theory. IIRC, the symbol appeared above the entrance in the wide shot. (Remember when Abbie first looked out over the wasteland of wherever she was?) Whatever the symbol means though is part of the mystery. Crane needs to go back and look at the Sumerian tablet he smuggled into the country, but wait...he doesn't know that Abbie is drawing an archaic symbol everywhere. I like Crane's concern, too. Right now he's giving Abbie space (I love how gentle he is when questioning her) and probably hoping that she will open up in due time. It's in his character not to push her, but you are right. Team Witness doesn't have the luxury of waiting and at some point Crane is going to have to grab the bull by its horns (or the Witness by her lovely curls in this case) and pressure her to start talking. And finally, I love your word choice (secretive) because it is beyond accurate at this point. P.S. That is one wickedly ugly wig they've saddled Pandora with. Ew.
  9. I've re-watched the episode and noted a few other things this time around... I really enjoyed the aborted dinner scene. Ichabod was really, truly courting Abbie and she was receptive to it...the greetings in Italian (romance language, people); the way she looks at him when he hands her the glass of wine; she softens the disappointment of bailing on him by touching his arm twice before she leaves and, then there's the big one, people! Damn it, she even acknowledges his bow with a little curtsy. I just can't with these two. Someone may have already pointed this out, but Abbie appears to be slipping in and out of two different realities--the world she's always lived in, where she's trying to deal with the trauma of her 10-month isolation (or is it a year? they've used both measurements) and the world where she believed she was alone, but is clearly in the thrall of some powerful entity or spell. Also, the position she took up in the garage seemed very similar to the one the demon ghoul made after being shot; this makes me think that whatever is going on with Abbie is tied to Pandora & THO. THO is just plain hateful. If someone treated me with that level of spite and malevolence I'd gut him in his sleep. I hope Pandora is quietly plotting revenge on his evil ass. I set the number of creepy people stalking Abbie at 2-1/2: Danny's handler (I don't know what that dude's name is, but who told him Abbie's behavior was unstable, and who is the "us" he referred to?), Ezra (because why has he suddenly reached out to Jenny after all these years, then specifically ask her to arrange a meeting with Abbie?) and Danny. The Nevins feeding scene was hilarious and Sophie's reaction was the best. LOL I like her a lot. I also liked the quiet intimacy between Joe and Jenny in their last scene. That was their most authentic interaction (romantically) to date. Abbie seems most like her old self when she's with Crane, and I think that's because she does feel safe with him and knows she can trust him. I was happy she told him that [she didn't think] she could hit the scarab because the target was too small (flashing back to her earlier disastrous practice session). She wasn't ready to talk about Ezra, but she did let him know that her struggle was real and she was trying. Those little efforts show me that Abbie is putting up a fight, but whatever is manipulating her is really strong. And finally, no Betsy Ross. Hallelujah! ETA: Fix grammar
  10. THIS. And THIS. Sophie may be a badass FBI agent, but I love her newbie reactions to the supernatural issues she’s confronting. What I liked about the sandwich scene is that Crane listens to Abbie. She asked him to stop spoiling her and he went back to his simple meal for one. But really, Crane, you couldn’t run out for some honey ham? LOL Yes, that was intense and surprised me, too. I was like... “Damn!” Huh. Much better than mine. I would have ended up with some deep cuts and a trip to the ER. Abbie in the garage broke my heart. It’s hard seeing her as some THING’s sock puppet. You’re probably right about Ezra, but I so do. not. care. And really why should Abbie and Jenny? They are grown women and have survived their ordeals without him. Sure, they have battle wounds from his defection, but his presence isn’t going to un-do anything. Fuck him. Regarding the bed...huh. At first I thought we were in Abbie’s room and would see Abbie in it. I expected her to wake up suddenly after having one of her "mess with your mind" dreams. She'd come to full awareness violently, knocking a lamp on the nightstand to floor. The unexpected noise gives Crane a reason to rush to her side in his nightshirt, sans robe. Ignoring decorum, he sits on her bed in an attempt to comfort her and… Okay. I’ll shut up and let myself out now. ETA: a few things.
  11. Ichabod cooking a romantic dinner with wine and flowers. I. am. dead. Seriously intrigued by whatever is going on with Abbie. Glad Nevins finally got the business end of someone's gun. I'm guessing Danny doesn't know his boss is shady?
  12. I appreciate your point of view regarding Abbie in Season 1. I guess I’d forgotten how the stories seemed to lean toward her character and flesh her out more than they did in Season 2, but I’ve already voiced my opinion on Season 2. Still, the promo I remember had Crane prominently displayed, Abbie next and so on. I liked the Season 2 promo that had them reaching for each other, but it sure was misleading when considering the season itself. As for the second part of your post, I don’t really see your point. If a show presented a white man in a romantic relationship with a black woman, how can you say it doesn’t count because it was only a few episodes or considered under-developed? These were forerunners to what you’re seeing now. Buffy ran from 1997 to 2003, the episode I'm thinking of with Giles (1999) made it clear that the relationship between Giles and Olivia had some weight and history. So, it doesn't really matter that she only appeared in one episode. It counts because it showed a relationship between a WM/BW. First season Dean Winchester was all about hunting, whoring and Sammy. But the episode that introduced Cassie revealed her to be his first love and her reappearance reignited the flame for him. Jeremy aside, Bonnie has never been more than an afterthought on TVD. Maybe things will change now that Elena is gone, if so, someone will have to tell me because I stopped watching that show years ago. Still, TVD put Bonnie in an interracial relationship and that’s the point I’m making with these examples (because I got the impression that some people thought that BW/WM relationships had never been presented before SH or Scandal). And I certainly don’t dismiss Merlin because it wasn’t American made. I found it totally refreshing (and surprising) that an English show presented a black woman as one of the most fabled beauties in the land. It doesn’t matter if the main relationship was Merlin and Arthur, the second most important relationship on that show was Gwen and Arthur’s. Y’all wanted a love story between a black woman and a white man that was romantic and passionate. Well, the Brits did it and they did it very well, so maybe Hollywood will stop tippy-toeing around the issue like its unnatural. I mean seriously. What the fuck is the matter with people when they'll scream bloody murder if they see a man and woman with different skin tones together? I. don't. get. it. And yeah, I have a swirl relationship, too.
  13. I have read the comments in this thread with varying degrees of approval and disagreement. First, I will preface my comments with the following...it was always my impression that Ichabod Crane was the main character of Sleepy Hollow and that the show would concern itself with his trials and tribulations first. After all, he was the man out of time which would elevate him as the most interesting of the two from a theme/plot standpoint, so I always thought of Abbie as the SECOND lead of the show. This was supported by all of the original promotional material. Ichabod was always placed prominently, then Abbie, then whoever else. The strength of NB's performance and the chemistry between her and TM naturally elevated Abbie in the eyes of fans to being Crane's equal, which she is in every way possible by the way, I'm just pointing out what seems (to me) to be the obvious thought process of the showrunners. The fact that the cast was predominantly POC (by 1) during Season 1 just seemed a lucky happenstance to me. I mean OJ's character could have been any ethnicity or nationality. But I’m glad he wasn’t because Irving turned out to be an unexpected gift. Sidebar: I tuned in to SH mainly because of Orlando, I’ve always liked him as an actor. Now as for Abbie (and by extension NB) being painted as undesirable, unsexy, incapable of being a love interest, blah, blah, blah, I take issue with all of that; although, I can certainly see how some people can come to that conclusion and use it as the focal point for their displeasure/argument. During Season 1, Andy tried to protect Abbie because he felt more than friendship for her. She had a relationship with the hot dude on the force that she apparently broke it off with, and by the end of the season, Crane had strong and protective feelings for Abbie. Season 2 had a different vibe altogether. Abbie and Crane were at odds even when they didn't want to admit it, and of course, the CFD aka the Katrina Show just doomed everything to dark, dull and stupid. Even so, you had the wannabe surfer dude crushing on her as well as the newspaper dude. And now we hear of a "relationship" during training at Quantico, so in my mind, these instances of attraction don't support the notion that Abbie is non-sexual or whatever. Abbie's life experience has informed her personality...she is guarded, self-sufficient and reserved. She doesn't like depending on anyone other than herself and she doesn't trust easily. But again, given who Abbie is and what she has endured, it makes perfect sense. I like Abbie's reserve and no-nonsense approach to life. However, at no time does Abbie's strength, smarts or autonomy translate into she "doesn't need a man" to me. Rather, I see Abbie as the one with "discriminating taste.” Personally, I don't believe Abbie has yet met anyone who is worthy of her. As to the charge that Fox is willfully killing romance between leads of different skin colors, I’m not ready to buy into that yet, but even if it’s true, there are other television shows (past and present) that don’t have a problem with it. For example, the BBC series “Merlin.” Guinevere was played by a biracial (read black) actress. The series took a novel approach to the legend of King Arthur, so Guinevere started out as a servant, but Arthur fell in love with her and she eventually became the Queen of Camelot, and she was always the love of Arthur's life. Sidebar: I adore legends and myths, so King Arthur has always been a favorite of mine. However, I never liked the character of Guinevere until the BBC series. On “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Xander flirted with Kendra (Bianca Lawson) and Giles had a very adult relationship with his English rose who just happened to be a black woman. The “Vampire Diaries” put Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Jeremy together and even Dean Winchester’s first love Cassie was a pretty black woman. And how can we forget the craziness between Olivia Pope and the Prez over in Shondaland (although, I don’t like this pairing). I'm sure there are other additions to the list that are escaping me just now, but point is black women have been portrayed as sexy and desirable and, “dainty flowers” to be protected, too, if that’s your ilk on network television. I can see Crane and Mills in a romantic relationship, but it would be a slow burn. Crane would never make a move on Abbie without some hint that she would be receptive. And we know that Abbie moves like molasses in winter when it comes to opening up and trusting someone with her heart.
