  1. So Jadis is going to be Alpha isn’t she? Makes no sense to have left her alive at the tip.
  2. Haven’t had a chance to read through all the post ep comments yet but did read the pre and live ones (wish I could join in but live in Australia!), the couple of pages I’ve read though shows me that we had similar reactions: • didn’t understand wtf was happening for most of it - I thought my TV was messing up because it was so hard to see anything • incredibly boring, I kept checking how long there was left to go, the ep was only about 60 mins, can’t imagine having to watch it stretched out to 1.5 hours due to ads • those ‘arty’ close up face shots were so stupid and pretentious • I had to keep rewatching the very start of it trying to work out the timing based on Rick’s beard because these time jumps have made it so utterly confusing • I had NO idea that Carl was bitten, when a few of you speculated that last week I thought you were mad! Sorry about that! ? • I actually cried when we found out Carl *had* been bitten, I love Carl, he’s so sweet, brave and kind and I feel very sad for Rick. I still care enough about them that it’s heartbreaking. I woke up this morning and remembered and felt sad. Both Carl and Rick deserve better. WE deserve better. • There was a lot of foreshadowing for Carl but I thought they were red herrings - I was worried Michonne was going to be the one to die • I’m angry about Carl dying as, like many people (even the actors), I thought the last season would reveal that this was never Rick’s story but Carl’s -I just don’t see any point at all now to the show, it’s completely nihilistic, there is no hope whatsoever. I don’t see why Rick would want to go on after this, he was only ever pushing on for Carl - he doesn’t have the same connection with Judith, I don’t think because she’s likely Shane’s but just because of the timing of her birth - so why would he keep going? It’s this completely fucked world with no joy at all, nothing to look forward to just more cruelty and hardships and now he doesn’t even have his son to protect and watch grow. I don’t think Michonne makes it worth him wanting to live because he’ll most likely lose her in some horrific way just like most other people he’s loved. I don’t want to see Rick so broken by losing Carl, this show is already depressing enough, now they’ve taken one little glimmer of hope that he might some sort of peace and happiness • I hate, hate, hate Scott Gimple, he’s an absolute no talent arrogant idiot with no nuance, no understanding of his audience and no respect for the fans of this show. I don’t think I’ll over get over HBO passing on TWD, imagine what a show it could have been with a decent budget and a talented showrunner
  3. If Judith gets killed I think I’m out, that would be fucked up killing a TV baby for shock value. If not then I’m doomed to stay in for as long AL is there as I’m ride or die for him and I think 99.99% that Rick will live til at least the second or third last episode. My life just flashed before my eyes ? I always see shows through to the bitter end, I’ve sat through some really shitty finales ???.
  4. I’ve moved house 3 times, gone through fertility treatment, fallen pregnant and had a baby who is now 13 months old during CDB’s ‘2 year’ adventure ?
  5. I am very excited and pleased that BPD is being treated so sensitively and accurately. I have BPD and don't tell many people because it is highly stigmatised - all the things that Rebecca looked up on the net are so scary and when I think about people who I disclose to reading that information it feels safer not to broadcast it. I had thought that is what was driving her behaviour because of the way she has been characterised throughout the series - it is spot on for BPD. The way she verbally attacked her friends in the fourth episode was the clincher for me, the most problematic symptom of BPD is the way we self sabotage. I'm looking forward to seeing how they show Rebecca gaining understanding of her illness and how she is going to start to regulate her emotions. This is the first time I have seen BPD in TV or film cast in an empathetic light which is a huge relief and I hope it goes someway to educating the audience with a fair and honest depiction of the diagnosis.
  6. I’m so surprised there is an overwhelming positive response to this episode on this board as well as in the reviews! I’m usually in the majority here but not this time - I thought the ep was appalling, the worst one this season (which is quite a feat). I was so so bored, there was no tension because of the stupid time jumps which break any momentum; Zeke has become totally annoying with his affectations - hopefully they’ll be toned done now that he’s suffered such a devastating loss; all The Kingdom’s warriors were killed which is so frustrating as it is the only likeable, functional and productive society we’ve come across; and the music through the ep was SO weird! It really took me out of the show, I thought there would have been lots of chatter about it here. It didn’t fit with the usually TWD sound and reminded me of the original Planet of the Apes movie score which was terrific in that film in the 70’s but is incredibly dated now. The only thing that made the ep bearable for me was the cameo by Rick because any ep without Rick sucks for me but the Rick and Daryl bit was bizarre, almost a parody of itself. I’m so sad that one of my all time favourite shows has become a steaming pile of poo ?, I used to hang out for 1pm on Mondays (I’m in Australia) but now I struggle to remember it’s on; I used to watch the episode the minute it was available then come straight on here and read all your comments in both the pre/during thread and post thread then I would rewatch the episode then watch Talking Dead then Knocking Dead. Now I just about manage to get through the episode and that’s with lots of checking to see how long there is to go. Such a shame.
  7. This is what makes it so so annoying, all TPTB needed to do was make that tiny change and it would made it completely plausible.
  8. I don't think it really matters though, they should have just killed him regardless, even if the others didn't surrender Negan has to be put down for what he did to Glenn and Abraham and for terrorising all the other groups, including some of his own people. If this was a rational show they would have immediately shot all of the Saviours who stepped out sans Dwight and Eugene. (I think Dwight has earnt a second chance and it would be hard for them to kill Eugene even after his betrayal). Then they could have decided what to do with the rank and file Saviours and prisoners. There was no benefit whatsoever to not immediately killing Negan.
  9. I'd have to rewatch up be sure but I thought it was when she gave her speech about all the slaves that Dany freed and the other things she's done that have impressed Missendei which supported her statement that Dany is the Queen they chose.
  10. Brilliant episode for all the reasons that the many posts here have already discussed. I cried when Arya finally got back to Winterfell and when she reunited with Sansa. The fight scene with Brienne was awesome and it was great that such a massively popular show depicted a duel between two females with the same earnestness that they would two male characters. My main quibble with this episode was when Missandei said that Dany was the Queen they chose - Davos made the quip about changing sides but I assumed he was going to say and Jon is the King the North chose, I can't understand why he didn't make that retort. I thought it was casting unearned shade onto Jon who has been the most selfless character in the entire show, time and again he has voluntarily faced death, has not wavered in his desire to pull together an army to defeat the real enemy, the white walkers, and has not wanted accolades for his courage. Davos knows all this - and that Jon was even killed by his own men for his efforts! - so to dismiss Jon like this (even in a joking manner) didn't feel true to Davos. I'm blind to the chemistry between Jon and Dany, though I admit I am biased as I dislike Dany with all her entitlement and million titles. I never thought they'd go there since it seems too obvious but looks like I might be wrong given how other posters have interpreted their scenes. I'll be surprised if Jaime is taken hostage as it's already been done, I actually think that Tyrion might rescue him. I really want to see a reunion between the two, I felt so sad for Tyrion watching his conflict with the battle as a whole and then his fear when Jaime went on his suicide mission. Speaking of, I believe that Jaime saw the opportunity to kill Dany knowing it was incredibly unlikely he'd make it and was risking his life but decided to take the chance anyway given what he said to Bronn earlier about not abandoning his men.
  11. I thought Alicia was 17/18 in the premiere as she was going to college the following year and didn't she have a birthday sometime in season 1 or am I making all that up?! If so though she could be 19, her hooking up with a 24 year old is in that scenario is ok in my book, usually I'm pretty sensitive to teens being with someone over a couple of years older than them but they all seem older now that they've gone through such an extreme experience.
  12. I'm not sure what you mean by she didn't bear Jesus? There was the whole stable and manger situation.
  13. ITA, it's been annoying me to no end and shouldn't be in here - TV/movie adaptations are meant to stand alone from the source material, it really doesn't matter what's in the book if something different is coming across on the screen. I've read THT (and Big Little Lies!) which is why I haven't been posting as I was worried I'd give something away. Happens in the GOT/TWD forums as well, I don't know why people can't stick to the book threads to debate source vs adaptation ?.
  14. Another great, heartbreaking episode. Re the dinner party, I assumed that Serena had not discussed her intention to address the guests but chose to do so because the Ambassador was female. This way she could pretend that women did still have respect and some power in Gilead - the Ambassador had called the Wives 'the silent part of the room' the night before at Serena's home. Serena then decided to have the children to come in after the guests as a woman speaking publicly and the child parade were both good 'showbusiness'. That's the first time I've seen Nick wear an earpiece - I don't think he has in the past? If so, that is also the first time we have seen any technology being used in the current timeline.
  15. @MyBad That would work because Perth is 3 hours behind us (I'm in Sydney and Melbourne is in the same time zone) in summer so that would make it 7.35am in Perth. Usually they are only 2 hours behind but daylight saving adds an extra hour.
  16. I still believe he's working a long con and I think he did the right thing not going with them as he knows they'd just hunt him down and kill him. This annoys me so much! It feels like she's been pregnant for 3 years. So true! Really wish she'd just shot him and all Saviours cheer and immediately ask all the neighboring groups over for a sausage sizzle. What she did was smart and I would also do whatever it took post-apocalypse and now she's at the point where she's acquired the skills necessary to look after herself and others. I was glad too! One of the most ridiculous things about this show is the lack of sex for most of the characters. I miss Glenn so much, even more than I thought I would. It's really decreased the enjoyment of the show for me, I would much rather it had been Maggie even though I really like her.
  17. That nearly sent me into a coma, it was so so boring. I say it nearly episode but why they think only showing one storyline per episode is a great way of doing things is beyond me. Clearly just a cost cutting measure. Ugh!
  18. And the parellel between Morgan beating Richard to death and Negan's killing of Glenn and Abraham is interesting, different reasons, same result.
  19. I thought that was a really good episode, easily my favourite non-Rick episode all season. It is frustrating that both Benjamin and Richard are dead as most of us assumed would happen as soon as we met them but it was done in an effective way. Really wish that the Saviour leader had just turned around and shot Rat Face when he found out Benjamin had died. I was hoping that we could have hung on to Benjamin as it was nice to have someone (along with Tara) who is not yet totally jaded. Seeing the extent of Morgan's PTSD was enlightening and very well done - and should have been communicated to us two seasons ago so we could have been more empathetic to his pacifist stance. I liked that Carol now knows what happened to Glenn and am looking forward to her storyline integrating with CBDs again.
  20. I also think he's working the inside but I so hope he doesn't die. I'd like him to play an integral part in the takedown and be able to reap the rewards. I would have laughed if straight after the Glenn and Abe death CBD got back to ASZ, packed up and hightailed it out of there - to hell with Daryl, Sasha, Maggie and the ASZ-ers. And they never spoke about them again, just like Maggie with Beth. This frustrates me so much when Rick is being blamed for every single wrong decision! Daryl offered their services as mercenaries and then everyone agreed except Morgan when they took it back to ASZ. But so many viewers seem to forget that.
  21. Andrew Lincoln was well known in the U.K. prior to TWD as he has been in popular, critically acclaimed TV series. I had a shock seeing Egg (This Life) and Simon (Teachers) being a badass! I'm the same age as AL and it feels like he's always been around - I looked him up on wiki and his first TV role was at 21 so a lot of Gen X-ers on the other side of the pond have grown up with him. From what I've read, he doesn't want to work when TWD is in hiatus so he can spend time with his family - although I think he did a play last year. I doubt he'll ever be short of work. The only one who I think is now typecast is NR because Daryl is such a cult figure (kind of like Henry Winkler forever being Fonzie). I wonder though if he could care less as to achieve such success at his late age (in Hollywood terms) is not very common.
  22. What do people who feel that Eugene has acted in a cowardly fashion in The Sanctuary think he should have done? I just can't see any other way he could behave if he hopes to survive. He's gone in there after seeing the Lucille deaths, Spencer's intestines liberated and he's been caught assisting with an assassination attempt of Negan, I don't understand what his detractors would have had him do?
  23. I think that scene is subjective, I saw it as two traitors on the balustrade. (They'll help in taking Negan down.)
  24. Every time anyone with medical training has died on the show I want to cry! So far Hershel; Denise; Bob (medic); Dr S (from the prison); the doctor from Slabtown (who the other dr killed); Porchdick (ok, I wasn't too upset when he died) and now Dr Carson. And no one has even thought to grab a first aid book on a run ?. Maybe that's why he wanted to keep Dirty Daryl around, so that he'd have a replacement for Dwight ?.
