  1. Yay! Someone else thought of The Lottery. Well Zoo are getting inspiration from good sources, I'll give them that.
  2. I don't think it will be a murder/suicide as it would not have any pay off for them both to go at once. If Jaime kills Cersei it would be more interesting to see how he lives with that decision rather than just killing them with no one left to care at all that Cersei is gone and only Tyrion and Brienne to mourn Jaime - it would be as if neither of them had ever existed which would be odd for two of the longest surviving main characters. I think it makes sense for Cersei's death to come sooner rather than later as her story seems to be just about done whereas with Jaime there still seems to be unfinished business. I don't think it matters that he's said he can't live without her - people say that sort of thing all the time about someone they love but it's not usually literal when it actually comes down to it - and their circumstances have changed; he hadn't counted on her going completely insane and killing thousands of innocent people and he won't kill her because he 'wants' to but because he feels he has to, she has become so incredibly dangerous, just like the Mad King.
  3. I'm rewatching the series and am up to S1E6 - is Cersei Gendry's mother?
  4. That's true we don't have control over our moods or probably more accurately, we don't have control over the way we act out based on those moods. No one has actual control over their moods (emotions) but most people without mental illness are able to regulate their behaviour so they are not letting those emotions override their logic, particularly to the point where it's dangerous. But Rachel was not manic when Jeremy hit her, when Chet saw her the next morning she was very upset and angry but not high and she also didn't agree with him straight away. She still took the photos for evidence and seemed intent on filing a report. Later she changed her mind when Quinn put the pressure on her along with Chet. If someone is completely manic or extremely depressed it's nigh impossible to talk them out of a decision they have made. However if you or the ill person themselves catches they on the edge they can do things to prevent it happening or at least lessen the impact. When I stop sleeping, feeling 'overly' happy or irritable and my thoughts start racing I know to get to my dr asap, get a family member to be with me, take antipsychotics and tranquillisers and make sure I'm in a calm, safe environment. Often I can avoid a hypomanic episode that way but it has taken YEARS to learn the warning signs and then to actually act on them. Once I'm hypomanic though all bets are off! The same thing with the depression, if I'm having dark thoughts, not being able to get out of bed, wash, etc I get help asap. I can believe that Rachel can talk herself through some of her times of depression but I don't think (?) we've seen her snap herself out of mania. I don't think she gets actually 'manic' anyway, it is 'hypomania' so it's not as intense - but still not great! That quote is quite silly, if that were accurate no mentally ill person would ever seek help because we wouldn't recognise there was any need to.
  5. I thought they showed different sides of the coin of bipolar. Mary was doing all the 'right' things for her illness - she was diligent with her medication, didn't drink at all, tried to have order in her life and stay out of situations that were stressful. Then she went on the show and that was all ruined, the medication swap out would have been especially devastating to her psyche because she had no idea that had happened, she just suddenly went high, had that awful husband sprung upon her and then crashed so low, I had guessed that she was in such despair because she couldn't even say to herself 'it's because I'm not on my meds', she just thought I'm going to be this way for ever so I'll be a shit mum, I can't do that to my daughter. And then you've got Rachel who we still don't know if she takes her meds at all but if she does, for sure she's not complying properly and she's heavily drinking, using drugs and lives an erratic lifestyle, the worst things you can do for any mental illness. I agree, that's exactly why I had thought of dual diagnosis - you don't get manic highs with BPD so that's why I still think bipolar as well - but the BPD fits in perfectly with her pushing people away before they can do that her, constant self sabotaging behaviour, the manipulativeness and we've seen from last season with her old flat mate that it's not just because she works on a show that demands that, she's behaving like that in her private life as well. And BPD is the product of a traumatic childhood which her mother provided. She also seems to have a lack of a sense of self. I love that piece of trivia, imagine going to the doctor and they say ok, an orgasm will fix that lol! And then give that to them in the office, hilarious especially given how repressive those times were. I've been meaning to watch the movie about it for years, I'll have to have a look for it.
  6. I don't think you did and honestly, it's so easy to say without really thinking what it means! My sister and I still use it jokingly about me - 'I'm crazy again, off to the funny farm' but it's a way to take the sting out of a really shitty situation. I think it's a bit like different races and gay people might say certain terminology in their own society that can be hurtful if those outside use it. I never use 'crazy' to talk about mental illness outside my family and 2 friends with bipolar as it is so important to reduce stigma. Thanks for your understanding ?
  7. I would really appreciate it if people would avoid using the word 'crazy' when talking about mental illness on the board. It's as disparaging as calling a gay person a f***** and it is not a clinical term. There is a lot of stigma for those of us with mental illness and it's quite hurtful to be called 'crazy' when through no fault of our own we have a serious condition that affects our daily lives and causes a lot of pain. The part of mental health stigma that UnREAL portrays very well is the fact that even if Rachel is in a stable state, as soon as someone wants to 'get' at her they start throwing her mental health back in her face. This is a very real thing in my life and others with poor mental health, no one ever lets you forgot that you are 'crazy'. The ongoing use of that word helps to contribute to that stigma.
  8. You can absolutely have a reaction only a day after going off your meds. Some of the meds are so specific that you need to take it at the same time everyday or you start getting 'brain zaps' which are very painful. Only 24 hours after going cold turkey off psychiatric medication can send you very quickly into severe depression, a suicidal state, psychosis, manic states, etc. It's very dangerous. Yes it's frustrating we don't know if she does take meds or not although Quinn thinks she does. If she is just taking them sporadically they would be doing her a lot of harm. We shouldn't be calling anybody 'crazy', it's not a medical term, it's a pejorative one. If someone is having delusions they are could be in a state of psychosis, hallucinating, acute paranoia, lots of things. I think Rachel is Bipolar II and has Borderline Personality Disorder - I have both of these (they are often comorbid) and recognise a lot of the traits that are being portrayed. Her mother has made things that much worse for her though by eroding her self-esteem and wanting to continually diagnose her with more disorders - like there is no way she has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I'm not where you've got your information from but between the two types of Bipolar you can certainly be rapidly cycling going from depression to hypomania and back again within hours right through to the other extreme of having a manic episode for months on end. You can also have a 'mixed state' where you are depressed and manic/hyper manic at the same time, this is considered the most time most likely for a Bipolar sufferer to take their life. Also, when mania or highs are talked about people usually think of extreme happiness but it can also be overwhelming feelings of anger, irritability and frustration. If people are medicated yes they can have long stable stretches - you can still have manic or depressive episodes even on medication but they are usually not as severe - however if someone isn't medicated if really depends how severe their condition is, they can spend their whole life yo-yoing which is why the condition is considered to be so serious and needs to be treated and monitored. Bipolar moods - depression, mania, hypomania CAN be triggered by life events, this is why we are taught by mental health professionals how to recognise our triggers. And it also can just come of nowhere and you don't know why you're suddenly so high or low. Yes BPD and Bipolar have a lot of similar traits, as I've said above, I believe Rachel has both and I think her Bipolar is type 2.
  9. Oh god, that always pissed me RIGHT off! As far as I was concerned, it wasn't Susan's baby, it wasn't like she and Carol had planned to have a child together and then had taken all the steps to do so, they just took advantage of the situation. Everytime Ross tried to assert himself as the father in anyway they'd make out it was because he was being homophobic but no, it was because they completely stripped him of his parental rights! It was all just what they felt like 'letting' him do. Even with naming the baby they didn't want to include him and then Susan wanted her last name to be used but not Ross'?! Ugh. I thought she was awful the way she treated Ross from day one, as if he had no reason to be upset after the wife he loved cheated on him and left him. Carol should have told Susan to be much kinder, he could have made things so difficult for them.
  10. And at night I'd be locking his door and my door and sleeping with a knife under my pillow! He's scary as fuck. I couldn't believe that with the cat! The poor thing has just been abused and she's not being kept in the house? It's surprising how much of the medical community smokes. At my hospital there's usual quite a few staff from onnology smoking outside. That's hardcore, to see what they do and STILL smoke, yikes! Please don't say BPD! BPD sufferers feel TOO much and certainly have empathy for others, they are not Vulcan like Jack, he has to be a sociopath, it all fits.
  11. I got sociopath from him, not autism. I don't think people assume those on the spectrum are cruel do they? I really hope not, that's not a trait of the condition at all. I actually found him quite horrifically intriguing, I'm always interested in what a young sociopath might be like and how frightening it would be if you saw the signs in your child. I wasn't sure if it was just me! The lighting was so annoying, I found it so difficult to see which is particular frustrating as I have a huge crush on Justin Chatwin. I thought that too and I also thought it would be against police policy for an officer to endorse a candidate like that - it's different if he's just in civvies, in uni it looks like police approval.
  12. I think: Jaime: Will kill Cersei. It will be a tragic scene rather than a brutal one. Jaime: He'll continue his redemption arc but I'm not firm on how. It will become known that he slayed the Mad King because of his plans to burn down the entire city. Agree with AimingforYoko, The Wall will come down in the Season 7 finale. Dany: Will arrive at KL and find the people she's come to rule will not be happy about being invaded by a stranger and a bunch of thieves and rapists (the Dothraki and the Iron Born). Jon: He'll leave Winterfell in Sansa's hands once the Baelish issue is sorted and take the Wildlings and Houses who have pled fealty to him to try to persuade the rest of Westeros of the WW threat. Dany and Jon: Will ally to fight the WWs; they won't marry; he'll find out his parentage but he won't want the crown UNLESS the Dany going evil theory comes true. Ayra: Will hear about Jon and Sansa being alive at Winterfell and hotfoot it back there, maybe running across a couple of people on her kill list. Her priority though will be to see her family. Clegane Bowl will happen - hopefully Arya will be there cheering on the Hound :) Sam: Will find out where there is more dragon glass. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Gentry: Will finish rowing to Kings Landing and take the Thorne after Jaime kills Cersei and then will marry Dany (HAHAHAHAHAHA!) Baelish: The unpredictable wild card. He'll become Hand to the Night King? He'll open a rescue centre for Direwolves? Hot Pie: It will be revealed that he is the Prince that was promised.
  13. I'm 43 so was right there in the Friends craze and I STILL watch it - it's repeated here at 6.30pm every night so I watch it as something I don't have to think about while I eat - then I start my 'serious watching' of the evening. :) I do notice the gay thing, it really does stand out and what is scary is it was progressive for those times. The worst was always with Chandler's Dad and transgender/transvestites/drag queens are all treated badly on the early years of SVU as well. In Friends defence, as much as there was joking about the lesbian wedding the fact that they did have a same-sex wedding on TV was a big deal and all the characters were very supportive, involved with the wedding and cried at the ceremony. I really loved when Ross was so angry about Carol's parents not going so he walked her down the aisle himself. And I actually thought the Phoebe bit was pretty accurate! I can totally imagine an elderly person saying 'now I've seen everything' and don't think that necessarily has negative connotations. If everyone thought that same sex marriage was 'normal' we wouldn't be having so much damn trouble getting it legalised in this country (Australia). I liked the one with Phoebe's ice skating husband because it was really about turning the stereotypes on their head. I thought it was clever, especially when he was talking about experimenting with being straight in college and 'always having known'. With the people at work thinking Chandler was gay, I thought that he was more curious as to why people thought that? I thought he was worried it meant that women were dismissing him because they thought he was gay. At the end he was offended but because the office staff didn't think he was hot enough for the best looking gay guy at work - it was more ego. Actually thinking about the relationship with Carol and Susan, it reminds of all the talk about the dead lesbian trope lately. These two did have a happy ending so it shows how well it can be done, it would be nice if they could have another same sex female couple in one of today's popular shows but one that doesn't generally have a lot of characters regular meeting early deaths!
  14. The speculation shouldn't be based on books, location sightings, rumours, interviews, etc. It will be most interesting if we share our thoughts on how we see the next season progressing purely based on show canon.
  15. I knew that someone would bring up the 'rich people have no morals' stereotype. That's crap, a lot of wealthy people still do great things and have maintain their humanity - look at the Giving Pledge. I really dislike people being stereotyped, it's just as lazy as saying 'all poor people are lazy', people are people and all behave differently.
  16. It was a really quick line, I had subs on so makes it easy to remember
  17. It's such a short series and short episodes so I knocked it over on the weekend, after watching 'intense' shows the last few months and having to actually think I needed a brainless show to decompress! Although Zoo is much more fun, dumb and fun is better :) I can forgive the kids being dumb because they are only kids and I don't expect them to know much but what IS weird is they don't seem traumatised in any way! All of their parents died, they have barely any food, some of them are close to turning 22 but nobody seems scared or upset? They seem much too together after having gone through all that. Which episode are you up to?
  18. Quinn said to Jay 'you didn't seem to have a problem last week' when he confronted her about filming in the suite without them knowing so it became clear that Ruby wasn't aware they filmed her sneaking off to see Darius.
  19. That was crap, it's become Days of Our Lives. Nothing feels organic in the show this season, we are being told the story, not shown it. Within 4 weeks and very little one on one time together Ruby has fallen in love with Darius and Rachel has fallen in love with Coleman, to the extent that she is calling him her partner and saying she'll be with him in 3 years time?! Idiotic. Have no idea why Quinn is still so involved with the show and is overruling Coleman, it's just the same as when Chet and Quinn were yelling opposing instructions to the crew a few episodes ago. I don't know why Chet is on the set either. Why on earth would Quinn tell Chet she was going to try to talk the English billionaire douche into giving her a network when Chet has repeatedly screwed her over. If Coleman is meant to be so great at his job there is no way he'd be encouraging Rachel to make waves with Quinn and he wouldn't be baiting Quinn either, that's a dreadful management style, a good manager tries to get everybody to work as a team. Or would get Quinn banned from the set if he can't get her on board. How on earth can there be so many amoral people in the UnReal world? No one ever says we are going too far - at least they don't stick to it if they do - I wanted that English douche to say you're gross unknowingly filming people having sex and then bringing her father in, wouldn't most 'normal' people think it is fucked up? He's got no experience in the TV industry so that would have been a shock to him, there's no way he'd be jaded like all the rest of them seem to be. And of course he and Quinn have to become an item because god forbid any woman on this show not have a romantic interest. As if any father would walk in to a room knowing their daughter is having sex, no father wants to see that. Banging on the door I could buy but barging in without warning then talking to her on camera when she is just draped in a sheet and Darius is nude next to her was beyond stupid. FFS. If they aired that sex scene and the father bursting in and I was a viewer I would be so disgusted with the production team, the audience has supported a 'romantic' show for the last 13 seasons not a tits and ass one, it would not fit in with the fairytale romance story they want. Jeremy can just go die, even without hitting Rachel he was already the worst and has no real role on the show. Hot Rachel is an idiot if she thinks hooking up with him was going to help her in any way, the DP has no power over storylines or who stays on the show. I really hope she has some other ulterior motives such as the previously suggested expose on reality shows, there must be some reason she took the keys last week. The only thing I liked in the whole show tonight was Rachel letting Dominique know about Hot Rachel banging Jeremy causing Darius to reject both women and 'go rogue'. I'll finish out the season because it's only a few episodes and most of my shows are over but I don't think I'll be back next year.
  20. That's exactly right, I'm so glad everyone on the forum seems to be watching for the same reason as me - the fun and the snark. There's honestly no point expecting logic, reason, decent CGI, acting, plot, dialogue that normal human people would say. And that's the beauty of it because at the moment on TV, this one wins hands down as best entertaining worst show. I'm certainly not watching this as I do OITNB or GOT expecting things to make sense and characters to stay true to their nature - I criticise the shit out of those shows when they don't not live up to the high quality they have previously established. Whereas if Zoo has Jamie start making sensible decisions or the government chooses to actually hold Reiden responsibility for causing this catastrophe then I'll very disappointed. I don't want logic wrecking this show, it needs to play to its wheelhouse. And I definitely need lots of hand wave moments which drive me mad in quality shows but hand waves were positively made for Zoo. I'm not 'hate watching', never see the point in that, I'm 'hilarious watching'.
  21. Brilliant, brilliant stuff! Oh Show, you made all my wishes come true. I was worried they would try to elevate it and instead they have realised the best option is to Sharknado the shit out of it. I laughed through most of it; the actors are hamming it up so much (except Jamie - I think she might be... trying?), I swear the lack of continuity is deliberate, the dreadful CGI animals, the leopard when it was on the table looking as realistic as a stuffed toy. All terrific stuff - TV shows take note, you gotta double down to make a deliciously awful best bad show. When Manimal appeared it was like Christmas came early, please don't try to come up with a good explanation for this new mutation Show. I love that Mitch - the vet - had to ask Oz what the dog bite was on his arm. I love that elephants are going around biting people. I love that the inside of that plane is the size of the Titanic. I love that Billy Burke gives zero fucks and seems to be revelling in the ridiculousness of it all. I love that the writers aren't afraid to use well worn TV tropes - the guy talking about his baby then promptly dying was a particularly nice touch. I wish so much I was in the same time zone so I could live chat with you all during this televisual event of the year.
  22. I just watched it on the weekend, it's a teeny tiny bit better - I think! Please please watch it, I need someone to talk about it with ?
  23. Bum poo wee! That's a bugger! You're absolutely right, gotta have the antagonists, I just felt like after last season we'd moved on from them, both the guys felt ancillary and utterly replaceable to me. There's no reason for Jeremy to still be there other than to harass Rachel as he professes to hate the show and from what I understand crew are usually hired season to season for reality - he could probably get another job elsewhere with such a big show on his resume. And after Quinn won a share of the show and a development deal and kicked Chet to the curb I felt like that was done. There'd be enough drama with network interference, Rachel and Quinn going loggerheads and the bitchiness among the cast and crew IMO.
  24. Yes the hair looks bad as well. I really do feel like a bitch commenting negatively on someone's physicality, it's not like me, but when someone is meant to be the eye candy they need to BE eye candy. SGS seems to hate Jeremy and not be overly impressed with Josh Kelly so maybe she was glad he looks bad! It would make it easier for her to convince the network to get rid of him at the end of the season. I think SGS will do her best to write him, out I'd be glad to see both he and Chet go, I don't really understand why they came back this season, they seem a bit pointless (I know the network forced SGS to continue on with Jeremy which is frustrating). That's my big problem with this season, last year I could feel for Rachel, she still had a lot of humanity and she was always walking that fine line of 'good/bad'. Scenes like when Faith came out and Rachel was so delicate with her and happy for her finally admitting it to herself were really touching. But she hasn't had any redeeming storylines so far to balance out the nasty ones. I rewatched season 1 last week and Rachel is quite different, it's probably only about 6 months since the last season was filmed, it's too short a time to lose all her compassion. I'm fine with Quinn being awful, I actually love that about her and don't expect anything from her but I can't cope with 2 Quinns, that's too much evil on one show, we need our 'grey' characters as well as the 100% dark ones. From what I read in that NYT article, SGS had a lot of things forced on her by the people with clout AKA non-creatives at the network, I think this is what has led to the problems with this season. I'll keep watching - Game of Thrones has finished, Walking Dead isn't back to October so I've got time to fill! Unreal is only a short season anyway but I'll be out after this season if it doesn't improve.
  25. Oops, my mistake ;) He's a big fan of his hats as well. It sounded like he hoodwinked the babysitter into letting him taking the baby, it was defo not on the up and up since he gave that little speech about no-one having the right to tell him when he can see his kid. I'd call the police too if I was Cynthia if he just took the bub without me knowing, he's really shot himself in the foot now, the judge will be very unimpressed. Is being a douche grounds enough for the court to block custody? :)
