  1. Lucifer's relationship with Chloe is only part of his redemption. Dr. Linda is a big part of it. Father Frank was part of it. Lucifer's work with the LAPD is part of it. Several of the cases of the week have been part of it. It's nowhere near as simple as just finding the "love of a good woman." JMHO, of course.
  2. I missed Gail this week. How do you live a block from the beach for a couple of weeks and not realize it? It's not hard for me to imagine that these chefs had palates that couldn't discern simple foods in the QC. They couldn't smell the ocean a block away! I really wish I could have tried Sheldon's dish. That sounded amazing!
  3. Well, Katsuji is certainly consistent. He brought his douchebaggery with him to the LCK peanut gallery. I'm glad that Jamie won. He did an excellent job finding other ways than salt to bring out flavors. He deserved the win. Warm vinaigrette on gorgeous heirloom tomatoes? No Emily, just no. What a stupid challenge though; only 45 seconds in the pantry?
  4. It seems to me that the writers are setting up a redemption arc for Lucifer with the Chloe/Lucifer romance being a big part of that. What really struck me with this week's episode was Lucifer saving the lives of two mortals. Other than Chloe herself, have we seen him actually save human lives prior to this episode? I think Dad's plan (via the writers) is to redeem His favorite son with Mom ending up being the keeper of the keys to hell. It could end up in Amenadiel's lap but my money's on Mom.
  5. I think Lucifer will come to realize this on his own, with a nudge from Doctor Linda. Looking forward to having the writers play this out.
  6. I am thrilled that Ruth Negga received a Best Actress nomination. I wasn't sure she would. Amy Adams and Annette Bening would seem to be the ones passed over in favor of Negga and Meryl Streep. I do still think that this is between Portman and Stone and I think Portman takes home Oscar #2. I am also delighted that "Audition" (The Ones Who Dream) snagged a Best Song nod. "City of Stars" has gotten most of the attention but I left the theater humming "Audition." The Supporting Actress category is so stacked. I know Viola Davis is going to win and I adore her but Michelle Williams in just those few minutes she was on screen in "Manchester" was so riveting, I'm sorry that she won't be the winner. If ever I've wished for a tie, it would be in this category. I'm very happy that Lucas Hedges made the final cut in the Supporting Actor category; and also Dev Patel who is a personal favorite of mine and made me weep in "Lion." I have not yet seen "Moonlight" but I realize Mahershala Ali is the frontrunner. This is another stacked category. Terrific year for film. So many wonderful choices.
  7. I think when he punched her to get her off him, he may have had a needle in his hand. I was watching closely as we knew Chloe was going to be infected by the previews we had seen and it looked to me like he stabbed her with something. I wonder if they'll clear that up next week so we'll know for sure how she was poisoned. I hope so.
  8. That was hilarious. "Detective." "Counselor." "Douche." "Dick." :D
  9. Well, that's if the writers decide that Lucifer is the one who'll go back to rule over hell. ;-) I'm thinking they may go in a different direction. Just my speculation.
  10. Oh my Dad, what an episode! Right from the beginning, with love handles and hot foreplay that turns out to be a dream. Now that would normally tick me off but this was perfect and led into the funniest bit with Maze in Chloe's room! (I'm actually glad the writers didn't go straight into sex for them but the dream foreplay was fun to watch!) Then, heading to the frat party when Chloe let her hair down and asked how she looked. “Beautiful.” I was expecting something completely different but that was “a moment.” Lucifer at the party with the girls, “How do I turn this off?” Heh. Mom and Linda. "Doctor/devil confidentiality." :D Mom and Maze. The wickedness in this made you remember that this is a DC show. That was some Joker caliber villainy! I was on the edge of my seat for much of the episode. And the scene when Chloe ran back toward the lab to see if Lucifer was alright. That scene between the two of them was even better than last week's kiss! (And, I think there's a Pride & Prejudice fan in the writers' room.) The ending, as Lucifer comes to realize that what he finally knew was real, truly isn't was absolutely heartbreaking. As always, Tom Ellis did an amazing job. Standing ovation from me for the writers tonight. IMO, they hit this one out of the ballpark with the bases loaded. I had faith that they were going to handle Chloe/Lucifer well and they did not disappoint. Bravo.
  11. There's a good recap of the last two weeks' episodes (Booty and Restaurant Wars) in the Charleston City Paper. The writer of the article was a guest at Latitude during the RW episode. http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/Eat/archives/2017/01/23/two-weeks-of-top-chef-charleston-recaps-in-one-convenient-bite
  12. I agree, and the gender can be suggested via the use of a female pronoun in the body of the clue, e.g. she, her.
  13. I like the idea but I'm not sure he will. At the end of this episode of LCK, Tom said that Jamie had to beat four more chefs to get back into the competition. Seven chefs remain. Assuming that the next three to go will be Emily, John, Casey (in whatever order), that would mean Jamie will need to beat each of them and then one of Sylva, Shirley, Sheldon or Brooke to get back into the competition. I'm not seeing it. Along those lines, I was somewhat surprised to hear say Tom say that he had to beat four more chefs to make it back. In the last couple of seasons, didn't four chefs remain standing and the LCK winner came back as a fifth contestant who had to overcome some extra obstacle to make it back to the final four? I guess they've played with the re-entry process a couple of times.
  14. Thank you for your service! Your license plate gets a grammar pass. ;-)
  15. In the episode where Rebecca once again meets William at Randall's house in the present day and asks to speak with him privately, she says something to him about understanding that Randall will put everything in his life on hold to care for him so he (William) had better be all in. It was at that point that I figured Jack had some type of extended, terminal illness.
  16. You're correct. IMDb has Susan Blakely's role listed as "Anne."
  17. I'm sure that was the exact button Katsuji was looking to push! You've got to give Tesar credit for not going there. Whatever techniques he's been given to manage his anger, they're certainly working.
  18. Honestly, what bothers me on the gender specific categories is that they shouldn't be using a noun to modify another noun. If they're making it gender specific, it should be "Female" Singers not "Women" Singers. It ruffles my feathers about grammar more than it does about gender equality! (Although that too!)
  19. D.B. Woodside did a Facebook Live Q&A earlier today that was excellent.
  20. Just a heads up: Tonight's episode is supersized, running from 9:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. (EST)
  21. Well, considering that Lucifer evidently cast an Emmy winning actor with a long-term pivotal role in a breakthrough HBO series that is generally considered to be one of, if not the best show of all time, to a one episode appearance, it may not be all that surprising. I'm still expecting to see Uriel return in some way, shape or form!
  22. According to showrunner Joe Henderson, Kevin Alejandro's "You say some weird things, man" was improvised. Well done!
