  1. I looked forward to the show all week, and ... meh. I really got nothing more than that right now. Just: Meh.
  2. Tim Heidecker plays a family friend in the movie:
  3. Wait, what? When? Huh?
  4. One of the Single Parents showrunners is married to Mike Schur, one of the Brooklyn Nine Nine co-creators. I'm assuming like may attract like in that instance. Adam F. Goldberg really does seem to be on auto-pilot: Movie knockoff + someone takes someone for granted --> Someone learns a lesson. "The thing about..."
  5. I don't mind flashbacks. I do mind the same flashbacks every. week.
  6. I still do not understand the tolerance for Dina.
  7. I may be violating a PrimeTimer Prime Directive, but I just started last night's ep, and paused it to come here to say to people who'll understand: I just CAN'T anymore with the same flashbacks every episode. I'm starting to viscerally hate the damn trunk, the hallway and "MALCOLM! What the hell are you doing?" "I saw something. I saw a woman." LATHER, RINSE, REPEAT, LATHER, RINSE, REPEAT.
  8. I abhor child abuse, but goodness. If Beverly would have slapped Adam in this episode, I would have turned a blind eye. What a little prick.
  9. Brent seems to be there to try Janet's patience with his entitled demands. I agree with the user upthread who said the Soul Squad seems to be the ones tested: Jason gave into his baser instincts and plunged Derrick; Janet's ready to go OFF thanks to the demands put on her by the experiment and Brent; Eleanor is still trying to keep Simone and Chidi apart. The only two we didn't see really give into their baser instincts in part 1 were Tahani, who was solidly a sidekick for the episode, and Michael.
  10. tennisgurl already mentioned it, but this legit made me laugh: I also liked how Jessica knew that Evan had taught Louis something.
  11. I can't really hate on Constance Wu for being disappointed about being saddled with another season of Jessica The Emotionally Stunted Moron Getting Away With Being an Ass. Being an immigrant means she's from another country, not new to being a damn human. The Jessica of the early seasons reminded me a lot of my own mother -- a hard worker from Taiwan with high expectations. This Jessica is an insult. As for the boys, it's getting comical how much Hudson towers over everyone!
  12. I liked it, actually! I found how it all came together at the end in a dedication to the dead wife rather lovely. Bradley Whitford sold the surprise, delight and pride for me... But it did feel like "Mr. Holland's Opus, v. 30-minute Comedy." I'm not quite sure where they go from here, but I'll turn back in for Whitford and Camp.
  13. You know what I've always thought about This Is Us? If anything, it needs MORE PEOPLE. Like many more. Because two to three versions of two parents, three kids, a stepparent, a birth father, two spouses, and Randall's three daughters weren't nearly enough for a show. Let's add five more people. This show, man. This show.
  14. I almost forgot the other part that made me actually laugh out loud: Duffy's exasperated, "Please sit down, dude. How many weddings do you have to ruin?"
  15. I really enjoyed this show; it was perfect summer fodder. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed the show until I was waiting anxiously for it to load up on Hulu at midnight Eastern last night. I found Ainsley's focus on Kash annoying, but understandable to an extent after she explored her feelings; he had humiliated her very, very publicly, and the wedding planning ripped those wounds back open. I did think everyone shunning Maya was straight-up high school, but unsurprising in a Mindy Kaling-led romcom. Another romcom aspect that made me happily roll my eyes: Andrew and Tony had no business flying to Jersey for that wedding, but I was glad to see more of them. I thought the show did a fairly enjoyable job of flipping us through three years of these characters lives, even if Molly and Giles never really aged! Also, I found Ainsley's scheming and plotting to get Kash to the wedding hilarious ("That's why I'm calling, dipshit!"). Early stories about this show called it an anthology, but I do hope that they bring Rebecca Rittenhouse back.
  16. Finally catching up on the movies by skimming through them. It's superficial I know, and I know V.C. Andrews perhaps set some unrealistic standards with her characters, but I can't get over how incredibly plain faced all of the younger actors are, from Heaven and Logan and Fanny to Leigh and Young Luke. I could stomach the terrible acting if they were at least beautiful people, but wow.
  17. Disregard how Gabrielle and Christine making out feels like watching two bored soccer moms hook up after sending the kids off to college: There's just no spark. It's like they're paired off because Christine is just ... there. I don't really care enough about any of the rest to even type about it. I watch it because there's not much else new on TV right now. That's about it.
  18. I'm not for body shaming, but I am for honest feedback, and I'm having a really hard time getting through this episode because I can't get over how Tori's face looks like she's made out of putty.
  19. So many thoughts, but I love these guys. Tan always trying to be so polite and accepting of how these heroes have nothing BUT sports t-shirts and flannel in their closets and listening to their lives and really clocking their comfort levels and needs will never not get old for me. More thoughts to come, as I watch rather than binge like I did earlier today, but can I just say I hope I age as well as Miss Wanda? Because DAMN, girl. Also, loved me some Karamo taking a hard pass on touching animals on the farm, because that's how the outbreak begins, y'all.
  20. I was sad for the kids that the Byers were moving -- but it makes all the sense in the world that someone finally GTFO of town after three rounds with the Mind Flayer! Especially given how Will is basically a receiver and Elle has been Enemy No. 1 against it.
  21. Katharina can be a nasty piece of work in every timeline, but I couldn't figure out why she was so horrid to Grown-Up Jonas while shouting out who he was to Martha? I imagine S3 will track how Grown-Up Jonas became Charbroiled Jonas/Adam, but I am having difficulty wrapping my mind around how he could end up doing such a 180 in regards to time traveling.
  22. It's been renewed for a sixth season!
  23. I think they were saying liking a woman is great, but marry for love. Not out of a desperate fear of being alone. And maybe find someone who’s interested in the same things, rather than giving up your own life and identity and settling for someone because they’re there. If Raj had truly loved Anu, I doubt Howard would have stopped him.
  24. Yeah, I thought it was rather fitting that Raj’s biggest romantic scene on the show was dedicated to his bromance with Howard. I thought Leonard confronting his mother was a natural next step after drawing a line with Sheldon and pushing for advancement at work. Penny’s given him the unconditional love he’s never felt before (as touched on in this episode), and he finally feels on enough stable footing in one area to assert himself in others.
  25. Flash S1 was my favorite show in a long while. But I missed last night's episode, read a synopsis, thought about pulling it up to stream and figured I'd see what you all thought first. Yeah, I think I'm going to pass, Which is huge, given how much I once loved this show, but I did not sign up for 20 episodes of "Nora West-Allen pitches a tantrum."
