  1. Yeah - I love how he was booed and run off, while our California firefighters were cheered and welcomed with open arms. When we were in the midst of the firestorms, I remember a bunch of Australian firefighters coming to California to help us; it is heartbreaking that we can now return the favor. I hope I never meet a climate change denier in person, because I'd surely throat punch them.
  2. Me three. The minute the composite was shown I told my cat "Holy crapballs, the DA did it!!!" - which would have been ... awesome. ;~)
  3. Yes, but they can DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqbVbPvlDoM I used to work in City government, and our facility was used to train K-9s in our area. My office was often used after hours/weekends to scent train, and the scratch marks on my steel office door looked like a grizzly tried to get into a cabin (my office was in a huge garage, hence the steel doors). All our City K-9s loved me because they were allowed to say hi & play when their handlers came to get fuel. The difference between the fierce working mode and down time was amazing - they turned into total mush puppies (well, with me they did - I think it was the familiar smell and my lack of fear).
  4. I can't wait to read about how your new pup outsmarted you when you post about it over on the Pets forum! ;~) If you've never seen the episode, you simply MUST watch the first 15 minutes of NOVA ScienceNOW about dog intelligence, and meet Chaser - the most incredible border collie ever. Apparently, the gene associated with cognition in humans is also found in dogs, and shows strong selective breeding in border collies. Here's a link to one of my favorite shows of all time: https://www.pbs.org/video/nova-sciencenow-how-smart-are-dogs/
  5. I can't recall why I decided to record this show, as I'd heard nothing about it, and am not a big fan of the fantasy genre (GoT excepted), but I'm glad I did. I'm also glad I waited to binge all 8 episodes without reading any of the forums - I avoid spoilers and "book talk" - it made for a great day of tv. Such a great show! I cannot wait for Season 2. With parents like Mommie Dearest and Dickswab Daddy, Lyra would be better off as an orphan.
  6. My condolences, @slf. My thoughts are with you and your Amber, and I wish you both peace.
  7. I'd consider that cruelty to animals. Leave the poor wolves alone!
  8. I really loved this show. It was exciting to watch the dogs run the courses, and interesting to see how the handlers dealt with the challenges. Even though he was eliminated (I think the handler missed a few scent alerts), I was really impressed with Maker, the border collie "underdog". He went through that first course like greased lightening!
  9. Would you settle for "worse, but not much worse"? ;~)
  10. Calling someone crazy and psycho is not the same as believing they have a mental illness. I think Leanne is a psycho-bitch, but I also think she's just a fucking asshole. Not aboard the pity train. Not affected.
  11. That sucks. My DVR has been recording new episodes all week.
  12. I don't hate JJ, and I don't love Reid (here come the pitchforks and torches), and I agree with the D grade. Not a great opening for the final season; but then, I wasn't expecting much.
  13. I am so sorry for your loss, @ryanbest. I do hope your wife's health improves, and that you will once again be able to walk with a dog and enjoy the delights of your aquarium.
  14. Her comment that Scheana would shove her body aside so she could get the best camera angle on her selfie was spot on. As was everyone's opinion that Scheana is boy-crazy. I can smell her desperation from San Diego. I, for one, am glad to have the chucklefucks (old and new) back on my teevee.
  15. This one really got to me, too. That poor young man has been damaged beyond belief; I do hope he has the help and support he so obviously needs. I think he's right to fear reprisal from that evil woman when she gets out of jail.
  16. Those kinds of people are what keep me from giving up on the whole damned human race (just barely). Yes, that last minute cancellation back and forth was troubling and perplexing. Something was very wrong, and Tia was absolutely right in refusing to place the dog in that situation. I hope the new parolee works out, too. His son sounds like a very mature and sensible 13 year old; it would be nice if his hopes and wishes for his father would come true.
  17. The Safari Park has announced free admission for seniors 65 & older for the month of February. You still have to pay for parking, but it is a great deal. Sadly, I'll be missing the age requirement by just a few days ...
