S37.E01: Double the Stakes, Double the Eliminations
bioprof replied to chitowngirl's topic in The Amazing Race
One more thing, it’s possible the cabs were prearranged by TAR and the cabbies instructed to say “no” unless the clue was presented properly. The nurses admitted they didn’t read the clue but they didn’t explain the additional information , other than the Chinese language inclusion. It’s possible the clue stated they had to present the Chinese direction to the cabbie. Agree it made no sense whatsoever to assume racism, sexism, etc. Other teams had no issue whatsoever and presented the clue correctly. Also don’t think it’s a stretch to assume TAR had arranged for the cabs ahead of time, given what we’ve seen in the past with teams suffering through no fault of their own over bad cab rides.. -
Same thing happening to me. I've discarded numerous posts because I couldn't type without opening an ad. Same thing was happening to me…made it impossible to follow the forums. But I changed my browser ( for Primetimer ) to Opera and problem solved. No pop ups…no videos. Amazing. I use Chrome for everything else.

Yes, the Survivor gift shop is located next to the Build A Hut store with all the pre cut bamboo and palm fronds. Just a short walk takes you to the Spa and Stuff area where you may select your wardrobe for the day and get a massage. This IS “NEW ERA” Survivor, after all. Sheesh!

Maria definitely needed to go. She sliced bread ( wow )……and very slowly, at that. At first I assumed she’d be responsible for the entire dish…slice and grill the bread and make the toppings. But no….just slicing and grilling. I can’t believe she messed up garlic bread. How do you make garlic bread with almost no taste! Both of these jobs were elementary and she should have been helping out her teammates. Phouc had no problem doing that in the luncheon competition. I agree with others who don’t like Hannah, but her team definitely deserved the win. Got to give her team credit for restraint with their knives….not sure if I could be that disciplined if she tried to mess with my soup.

S36.E08: That’s What Being Strong Will Do
bioprof replied to chitowngirl's topic in The Amazing Race
Danny and Angie SHOULD HAVE immediately radioed to their crew when they lost them. They were still close and in range…Angie even said they should radio them, but Danny….who’s never wrong, apparently, nixed the idea. Wrong move, Danny. So it doesn’t matter who was driving the crew car ( if you believe Danny, that is ), they would have resolved the issue within minutes had they radioed immediately like Angie wanted. The exit interview was only their version of what happened. TAR stated Angie made an illegal turn in the roundabout and all the honking and gnashing of teeth seems to indicate this was true. Nonetheless, they could have, and should have resolved the issue by using their radio. Not a popular opinion, I know, but I’m so glad to have Danny off my screen. They couldn’t have won anyway. Angie , in her interview, said their strong suit was puzzles, not the physical stuff. Cough, cough….then why did she need help putting together a large format puzzle that my grandson could have done in just a few minutes? Net foot, you’re so right about lost opportunities. So many beautiful places…. -

It’s possible that the teams were required to radio their turns to the crew. We saw, for the first time, that the racers are equipped with walkie talkies. There must be a reason for this . I think we were allowed to see this to partially explain the whole “ lost crew “ drama. Both Danny and his mother were talking to the following crew but when they went around the roundabout and continued without the crew following, Angie said they should wait up right then and there for the crew since they weren’t that far apart and the walkie talkies should still work. Danny said no, that the crew would catch up to them at the mat. If they violated a rule that all turns have to be communicated to the crew, then they deserved to be eliminated. only speculation, of course, but kind of makes sense. Why else have the radios? ( assuming the “help I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” is yet another reason for the radios ). No way a crew could keep up with small little cars turning left and right in the middle of a city with out notice of the turns so they could follow. -
No, I think it’s because of the sand color. Sand is pinkish brown. SC beaches look the same way…water is clean but look dark because of the sand

Just noticed with the long shot at the pit stop the kite surfers in the water. Looks like FUN! That could have been a roadblock 😁
-
The firefighters….OMG. They seem like lovely people but I hope neither drives the fire truck…they’d never find the fire.
-
Maybe her teammate wouldn’t be haranguing her if she learned how to drive a stick before the race, learned how to read a map, and learned how to give better directions than “ look to your left and see if you see anything” ….while he’s driving. Sorry, but to spend more than five minutes with her must be exhausting.

Question: Both Amber and Angie weren’t carrying packs, but so were one or two of the other women, and I think one was Leticia (?). And the men weren’t carrying two packs, just one. Did they decide to pack all their stuff in one bag? Have never seen this before. I’ve seen where a partner will pick up their partner’s pack to help if they were struggling, but don’t remember seeing only one pack per team. or….my memory is having brain cramps….

I finally figured out why Survivor has lost its appeal. It’s now completely without any flavor…like eating the world’s best pizza with no taste buds. old school : Rupert stealing the other tribe’s shoes actually meant something to the game. Him making a skirt to wear to alleviate chafing was hysterical. new school: God knows how many wardrobe changes they now have. And Soda’s confessional after the mud challenge had her with squeaky clean hair, nails, and make up and wearing a pink dress that was freshly ironed. It’s now just a cast of people spending time on an island with a complete support staff behind them…..yawn!

“Sorry, but I'm team Vinnie on this one. I know it's easy to judge from the comfort of home and we can never know what it's really like to be there -- but I really got the impression that it was less of an issue of Amber not being able to keep up, and more that she just didn't like feeling pressured into it; like the "racing" aspect was just a choice and not the obvious practical thing to do. They're both young and healthy-looking, running through crowded city streets, and only one of them was carrying any weight on his/her back.“ Totally agree. Amber actually said, during the art challenge, “ oh no, I guess I have to run again”. Seriously! Amber, dear, it’s, well, you know, a RACE! It must be exhausting to have to cater to her self doubt issues. I thought Vinnie handled it the best he could under the circumstances. Why the heck did she sign up for this if she doesn’t like the race aspect of it?

Sigh….another potentially good crime procedural turned into yet another soap opera. The show should be good enough without all the personal backstory garbage. Just think of the original Law and Order ( the mothership ). We had oblique references to wives and husbands but it never got in the way of the story. I think writers today are just lazy…throw in emotional baggage when you can’t write a decent story otherwise. These actors deserve better. This week’s episode was flat out embarassing.
-
How about ditch the assistants, have Kylie be the support team for JM, and, for heaven’s sake, get new writers.
-
This is getting tedious. Will we find out that ex wife’s new bf is Mathias or someone else on the FBI? Been thinking that for the past three episodes. Past several episodes ( especially last week ) knew the ending within the first few minutes. Series needs to ditch the assistants, get new writers, and maybe a promising series can get off the ground. Right now it’s just plodding along. Too bad….I really like JM. He deserves better.

Kudos to Anna Leigh for helping out Rob and Corey when they arrived at the raft after switching detours. When they said they were switching she gave them the chains they had been using ( they had just finished ) so they wouldn't have to search for them. Not a huge time saver, just a nice gesture. She gets a lot of hate on the forum and should be given credit when it's due. She also is apparently well liked by the other racers. Still rooting for the brothers or Rob and Corey to win it. What a great ( and refreshing) season this has been.

I might be remembering this wrong, but here goes: The "retirement" home is on Seabrook Island. I thought his parents, in an earlier season, had a home on Kiawah Island. I know Someone did! If so, they could have sold the Charlotte home and Kiawah home to easily afford something on Seabrook. Seabrook is nice, but the real estate is considerably less expensive than Kiawah. Explains a lot if I'm remembering the earlier episode correctly.

Excellent point about Using your camera to backtrack. It’s not as if the quiver is too small to spot, like if you lost a flint.
-
Hate to be this cynical, but how do you know he was really passed out? Easy to just let the camera lie there then pick it up later. You would have heard him breathing if he was lying there, passed out. Not buying it. He was looking for an excuse to get home without “quitting”.
-
Prediction: psycho dad will fake an injury rather than being ( gasp ) outraced and outsmarted by any other team. He’s an idiot. Wanted to root for the brothers, but their smugness just rubs the wrong way. So, rooting for Max and Christian . If I could root for just the brother on the brother sister team I would….she tends to be a bit annoying.

Where to begin? Mirrored backsplash….you’re out of your mind! Not just the cleaning, but it reflects everything, including all the clutter from those oh so “practical” open shelves. And let’s not forget the pure white fabric chairs and stools in the dining room and kitchen. Seating for only four at the island when there are six in the family….a dining room table that can only accommodate six people, no possibility for an extension. Forget about having company over….only the immediate family can fit. why go to the expense of ripping out the bannister and replacing it with something almost exactly the same? And for those questioning the budget….I’m sure the a lot of the insurance money was already spent on the structural repairs. So, where did the $135,000 get spent? Figure the kitchen was about 40 - 50,000. Flooring maybe around 20,000. They had no structural expenses other than adding the closets. I’d sure as heck ask for an accounting! Very disappointed in this one!
-
Why do they have to fake the weather…it’s fooling no one. It’s ridiculous when Sunny is wearing earmuffs and scarf while several of the contestants are either in t shirts or sleeveless tops. It even “looks” hot wherever they are……. Just let them carve and stop the pretense!
-
I was under the impression that they didn’t film the dismantling of the structures. Rather, they did a reverse time lapse of the structures being built which would give the illusion of dismantling.

The Great American Recipe - General Discussion

Just curious….why do the stylists on this program hate the female hosts? Breathtakingly unflattering outfits from one week to the next. No need to comment on the cooking…..it’s the same boring stuff from one week to the next.
