  1. "People might start accusing of us of leaning too far to the right." Really? Do they keep BriWi in cold storage, or something, until there's some knd of breaking news? They dragged him out today for the UCLA shootings. He made sure we knew what "June Gloom" was in LA (some kind of air currents weather condition) and then made sure to tell us that today, it's another kind of "June Gloom". (insert eyeroll) And while he's prattling and umming and ering his way through his info CNN was on the phone w/ someone on the scene. I guess this means he'll be invading the evening shows.
  2. Yum! Shrimp and watermelon. And fresh cukes. I enjoy yellow squash steamed w/ thinly sliced onions. Never heard of oven-fried. Is panko involved? I've got that.
  3. I hope she has her wits about her enough to remember to make the big announcement. Spacey. Not sure about Doris wanting a couples only thing knowing it was a HW event. But then I don't really get the couples only thing.
  4. "Springy"? I'm afraid. Maybelline? Wow. It's like watching clown makeup applied. Love the violins. How long is this? Okay, I'm out at 3 minutes. Whew!
  5. Now at page 235 and not sure I can do it. I am getting so bogged down. And disappointed. 200 more pages? Too much dysfunction. Too many absurdities. Too many words. I hate when previously favorite authors disappoint.
  6. I was practically hypnotized by that ridiculous pompadour! And those glasses. He needs to lose them both. All I could see was his big hair, his small dark glasses and how they only add to the out-of-proportion look of his now huge looking fleshy face and his little bitty features.
  7. I kind of gave it my recent City on Fire test. Yesterday, at about page 150, I just really did not want to keep reading so marked the page and closed the book. I picked it up again this morning and, unlike CoF, have reengaged. The character flaws you mention have given me a touch of melancholy that is difficult to suppress but Russo's turns of phrase, strokes of humor and outsized events are keeping me reading. Not his best effort but I am enjoying it.
  8. Started Richard Russo's Everybody's Fool yesterday and while I'm enjoying it I'm not finding it as compelling as other Russo reads. Partly, I think, because I'm wondering if I maybe should have re-read Nobody's Fool as a kind of refresher. But so far so good, really interesting narratives with some very funny moments and, as usual, intersting characters. Lots going on and he's tied the narratives together well.
  9. Ohhh. I'm so sorry. I hope the Bronco brought back some good memories too. Be well. And maybe laugh at B for not recognizing, once again, exactly what she's got and just how good it all is. And I'm going to guess that Ford did a collective cringe when she called the Bronco a jeep. (Jeep?)
  10. Wow. Is that a bad angle or had Bella not had the "fixes"? I usually prefer the more "exotic" Bella but not a fan of planning an entire life around one's looks.
  11. And I, grudgingly, agree. As much as I really don't want a Ford again, ever, I have always liked the look of those old Broncos. And hers is sweet. And like umbelina I am not a red car nor a white upholstery person. Just got a new Jeep. With a capital J. Love it. From the OED. "in English: jeep Pronunciation: /jēp/ NOUN trademark A small, sturdy motor vehicle with four-wheel drive, especially one used by the military. Example sentences Origin World War II: from the initials GP, standing for general purpose, influenced by 'Eugene the Jeep', a creature of great resourcefulness and power represented in the Popeye comic strip." But if I owned a sweet vintage ride like that I'd def. call it a Bronco. And I really got a kick out of jumper sage's intern-at-Chrysler memory. Chrysler has managed to do some body-streamlining that, imho, wasn't needed. And other stuff to.
  12. I think that's how B ordered it. And LuLu made her "suggestion". Right there at the bar.
  13. Wow! Thanks, louannems, for capturing that! Wow.
  14. I'm just sorry they double-downed with that big Spurgeon emblazoned across the front. Poor little Quincy, or Eliot or anything else, doesn't have a chance.
  15. Maybe she could find a use for the printing equipment Davey can't seem to get around to using. Though "Couponing with Jesus" might be on the horizon.
  16. Hey, imho, Bethy is at the very least a bit of a hypocrite. What would she do if someone wanted to get skinny with a tipsy or tipsy with a skinny? I guess that would matter because it's all about the B. And I stand my claim that words really matter. And in a wacky way I want to agree with Moaner. How close did B park to that rock?
  17. And that's something she could have pointed out, Made in USA! (Lots of those "foreign" cars are also made stateside though I get your point.) Maybe she can't be all, USA! RahRahRah! 'cuz who knows where all of her SG crap is made? eta: what if she calls the Shinola watch something else? (sorry, seriously a brand loyal person here.)
  18. I'm of the opinions that words really matter! And a brand is a brand. Companies pay big bucks on branding and expect brand loyalty. You'd think the Queen of Branding would feel the same. Look at the discussion that ensued 'cuz Bethy didn't know what kind of vehicle she paid oodles for. What other brands is she spouting off about with no concern?
  19. Oh, I love when he's on! Hard to believe that he's Mika's dad. I can't find anything about his health and the latest info of any activity was Feb. 2016. Didn't do a very extensive search but I was/am concerned!
